The ticket sales and flights booked for Japan were starting to soar at such an exponential rate that the governnt had to start regulating who could and couldn’t get into the country to prevent getting too many tourists!
Henry smiled as he looked through the reports dropped on his desk by one of his secretaries about the effects Mark Vantias’ announcent was having on the world. The amount of money coming into the Alliance, as well as the amount of popularity that they were getting from this, was astounding! And Henry could only smile as he knew that all of this was going to co right back to be credited to him. With the way things were going, he was definitely going to get that position as the next Overseer of the Superhuman Alliance.
But then Henry’s eyes traveled down to the list of superhumans that were being registered for the tournant, and he felt a frown marring his face as he saw the na of the first person the Japanese Superhuman Alliance registered: gumi Yoshida.
That na caused a slight irritation to spread through Henry’s body because Henry had t gumi Yoshida before, and from the sort of interaction they had, Henry was able to decipher easily that gumi was not the sort of person who would ever want to be a part of sothing like this. She would never go out of her way to enter a tournant that would be broadcast to the world just for the sake of fa, so that could only an one thing. The person who made gumi enter this tournant was her forr ntor and the current head of the Superhuman Alliance, Genshi Naruhito.
That na imdiately made Henry grit his teeth in irritation. That bastard was soone who had been a thorn in Henry’s side ever since he was first appointed as the head of the Japanese Superhuman Alliance. It was not a secret to anyone that Genshi was very traditionalist, and Genshi made it open knowledge that he did not appreciate Western culture or the way Aricans lived. Genshi had done everything in his power to ensure that Western culture could never cross the boundaries of Japan any more than it already had. Genshi refused any form of collaboration between Aricans and Japanese, and he even ensured that whenever the Superhuman Alliance deployed agents, they would never send any Aricans to aid in Japan. It was like an inside joke between the Alliance mbers that Genshi was actually a racist who looked down on all Aricans, but those who really knew him knew that he did not look down on Aricans at all. He just didn’t appreciate the way Aricans lived, and he didn’t want any part of their culture to be part of his own.
But that wasn’t what was making Henry really worried. Instead, what made Henry feel so anger at seeing gumi’s na was the fact that Genshi Naruhito was also rumored to be one of the most likely candidates for the position of General Overseer once the current General Overseer retires. There were no obvious lists or candidates announced for the position of General Overseer before the voting took place. Instead, a panel is assembled, and then the forr General Overseer cos in and announces those that he believes are capable of the position. They delegate and then choose nas from the list given by the General Overseer before they then choose a single candidate who would go on to beco the next head of the Alliance.
This ans that no one was capable of altering or knowing who would be the next head until the actual voting was already taking place, and the only way you could put yourself ahead of others was by performing as well as possible during your tenure as a director.
There was a high likelihood that Genshi was trying to gain an advantage in the next voting by winning this upcoming tournant. Henry knew that the chances of Mark losing to anyone in the world were very low, but he couldn’t help that small amount of unease that crept into his heart at the thought that just maybe Japan would manage to win the tournant. Japan already had an unfair advantage by being the host country, so setting things up so that they had a higher chance of winning didn’t seem unlikely.
Henry decided then that he couldn’t lose this competition. Henry needed to make sure that Mark actually won! Mark didn’t seem to be that interested in the competition when Henry told him about it, and Henry didn’t mind because he just thought that this was going to be a publicity stunt that would end up favoring him whether they won or not, but Henry couldn’t afford to lose now. Henry felt a headache coming as he leaned back in his seat and began to think. How in the world could he get Mark to be more interested in the contest? He couldn’t afford to have Mark throw the towel without putting up a good fight because that would ruin all his plans!

[The Vanguard Guild Building. Luna’s Office.]
"Did you see the news yesterday?"
Luna spoke up to Mark from her place at her large desk in the middle of her office. Luna’s office in the new Vanguard Guild building was almost identical to the one she had while she had been the head of the Moonlight Guild. The room was very spacious, and there was nothing but a large table with two chairs on each side in the middle of it, along with a couch and television set on one side of the room. There was a large glass wall behind the desk that overlooked the city below, and Luna had specifically requested this because it helped her to know if there was an anima attack happening around her.
Mark humd from his place on the couch on the other side of the table, and he raised one end of the magazine that was lying on his face as he turned to give Luna a curious look and asked her what news she was talking about.
Mark also had his own office in the guild building, but he didn’t spend as much ti in there because he didn’t have anything seriously official to carry out at his desk. Whenever Mark wasn’t on a mission or in a eting, he was either at ho or here with Luna in her office. Experience more on .Côm
Luna smiled at Mark’s silly look and she continued signing so docunts while talking to him.
"They’re saying you’ve saved the athletic world with your decision to enter the tournant. One of the news channels even speculated that you’re thinking of leaving actual combat behind to begin working as a showman since you’ve ’defeated everything that can be defeated’."
Luna raised two fingers on each hand and made quotation gestures in the air while smiling playfully as she said that last part, and Mark scoffed and put the magazine back on his face as he lay back down. Mark knew that the news channels would have a field day with his announcent, but he never thought that they would start talking absolute nonsense.
