The n and won of the clean-up crew couldn't help the awe on their faces once they laid eyes on Mark. Mark wasn't paying attention to them, as he was busy petting the hawk on his shoulder while telling it that it couldn't eat the mamba. The hawk's beak would definitely break if it tried to tear the mamba's skin! But the hawk squawked to tell Mark that it could do it since it was now a big hawk and Mark just chuckled! Mark could still hear the lowered whispers from so of the newer mbers of the clean-up crew.

"Oh my god, it's him! It's actually GHOST! I never thought I'd get close enough to see him!"

"Are we really allowed to be here when he's still around? I thought it'd be more difficult for us to et him since he's the leader! Shouldn't we have waited till he left!"

"Nah, he doesn't mind at all! He was the one who told us we could co once he was done fighting! Besides, he's on almost every quest, so you'll be seeing a lot of him."

"He's like a fucking machine that doesn't need any rest, dude! I even got to watch him fighting once; he's an absolute monster!"

"Man, I want to talk to him."

"No, don't do that! You'll just annoy him!"

The older mbers of the clean-up crew quickly stopped one of the newer mbers from going up and talking to Mark since they knew that Mark was not the most sociable person. Even though Mark would greet you politely and answer any questions or requests you might have if he felt like it, it was obvious to everyone that Mark was not a fan of talking to strangers at all. There was once an incident where one of the newer girls couldn't control herself and jumped into Mark's arms when she first saw him. Mark coldly told the girl to get off him imdiately, and if not for Mark defusing the situation on the spot, the girl would have lost her life to Arit!

[Mark, are you done with that Eldritch? I need to talk to you.]

Pat's haughty voice suddenly ca through Mark's comms, and Mark humd as he told him that he was done. The sound of keys clacking ca through the comms, and Mark guessed that Pat was working on sothing while talking to him.

On the other side of the phone, Pat frowned as he looked through sothing on the large screen in front of him. Pat was in his personal work area inside the large Vanguard guild building. Mark had given Pat an entire floor for his work since Pat said that he needed at least that much space to be able to do everything he needed. Mark understood that Pat was sacrificing a lot of his ti to work at the guild building, and since Pat was doing so much for the guild, Mark didn't mind giving up that much space.

But there was one thing that Mark simply refused to compromise on.

[Hey, is that the Captain!? Hey, Mark! We haven't spoken in forever!]

A loud voice ca from the other side of Mark's comms and Mark chuckled as he heard Pat tell Grace to shut up! Mark told Pat that his workload was way too much, and no matter how much Pat told Mark that he could handle it on his own, Mark simply refused to listen and made sure that Grace was put in the sa workspace as Pat to help him out with anything he needed! That was the one thing that Mark would not compromise on! Pat was going to work with Grace whether he liked it or not!

Pat told Mark that he was never going to forgive him for this, but even though Pat hated everything about the situation, Pat couldn't deny that Grace was a great help. Grace was efficient and smart, and no matter the area of discussion or how difficult a topic Pat brings up for them to work on, Grace was able to keep up with him well enough. Although there were a few tis when Grace seed lost or she wasn't able to figure out sothing that he was saying quickly enough, just talking to soone else with an IQ that was close to Pat's own gave Pat a much wider range of ideas to work with and it improved his work by leaps and bounds.

But Pat was never going to tell that to Mark. The bastard would rub it in his face forever!

[Captain, we've just gotten a breakthrough on the MDS! We're only going to be able to use it in a wider range very soon! It's freaking aweso!]

Grace suddenly shouted towards Mark, but Pat scread right back at her!

[I said shut up already! I was going to tell him that later! Fuck, Mark just get back here already, we need to talk about sothing else as well.]

Mark chuckled a little as he heard the frustration in Pat's voice before Mark sobered up and asked a question seriously.

"Is this about what I told you to look into? The syndicate?"

Mark had tasked Pat with looking into the syndicate a long ti ago. Even though the entire world now knew about the syndicate, it was still very difficult to find out anything at all about them. The syndicate was too secretive and they didn't make any moves at all to expose themselves, even though they were common knowledge now. Mark told Pat to continue looking into the syndicate for as long as it takes. There was bound to be sothing soon.

Pat had been working on a lot of things recently, but he always made sure a small part of his system was working on searching through all the information on the internet for anything on the syndicate, and Pat had finally gotten sothing after nearly half a year.

Pat grunted in confirmation and told Mark that he was right.

[I don't know exactly if it's them, but it's sothing strange that I think you'd like to see. Just get back here already.]

Pat was about to close the call, but Grace shouted out just before he could do that!

[Bye Captain!]

[Fuck, do you wanna burst my fucking eardrum!?]

Pat cursed at Grace in anger before the comm finally clicked shut. Mark just scoffed as he rubbed his hand against his hawk's head one more ti and commanded it to leave back to where Luna was. Mark didn't know how those two hadn't killed themselves already and he was just glad that they were able to work so well together, even with how different their personalities were.

Mark waited a few more seconds to see if there would be any movent from the snake, and once he was sure that there wouldn't be any chance of it attacking anyone anymore, he gave the clean-up crew a quick goodbye and blasted off the ground to et up with Luna.

For today's subjugation, only Mark and Luna had co with the rest of the guild. For the past three months, Arit had started to take ti off from the guild because she had the chance to apprentice under Jeanne whenever Jeanne was going out to treat patients.

Arit had always kept her wish of wanting to beco a doctor close to her heart, and when Arit was dragged around by Jeanne five months ago when she had the pregnancy scare, Arit fell even more in love with the profession. Arit realized while watching Jeanne work that there was more to being a doctor than just taking care of patients and healing them. It was sothing you dedicated a lot of ti to, and if you didn't put your heart into it, you could never be as good at it as you should be.

So after a lot of online classes, thirteen exams, and more than five interviews to help her gain an apprenticeship license and a letter of recomndation from both the headmaster of Nature Academy as well as from Jeanne which Arit worked harder than ever before in her life for, Arit was able to leave high school early and beco an apprentice under Jeanne.
