"I have no idea what you're talking about. You're the one that wanted to talk to , and now that I brought you here, you're telling I did sothing wrong? Just how ungrateful can you be!? You should be thanking for even bringing you here to answer the request of a lowly mortal such as yourself!"

Mark clicked his tongue in annoyance and looked down at his phone to see that he didn't have any signal anymore. Hopefully, he'd go back to the sa spot that he left so that he could still answer Luna's call properly. But for now, Mark put the phone in his pocket and focused his attention on Sozin. The two of them just stared at each other for a few seconds before Mark finally spoke up in a serious tone. Mark didn't beat around the bush at all and he didn't bother with a greeting, Mark just went ahead and asked the most important question.

"What am I, Sozin?"

Sozin's smile only grew as he stretched his legs out and floated around Mark calmly. Mark kept his eyes on Sozin as he waited for an answer, and when Sozin finally spoke, Mark felt his eye twitch.

"What do you think you are, Mark?"

Mark wanted to strangle that stupid bastard, but instead, he sighed to calm himself and spoke up again.

"What Freya said to in her domain. Was it true?"

Sozin frowned for a mont as he floated behind Mark before he sighed.

"Freya always says too much. All the gods know that. Her love for humanity blinds her, and since she's married to that powerful bastard, there's nothing anyone can do to touch her."

"You never said she was wrong, Sozin."

Mark pointed out that Sozin was just avoiding the subject of the conversation by beating around the bush, and Sozin finally ca to a stop in front of Mark and folded his legs under him once more. He stretched an arm out to Mark and put it on the tattoo on Mark's forehead as his face split into a grin.

"I didn't think you'd be getting this so soon, Mark. The seers said it would co, but for you to get it in only four years, you're really one hell of a monster. As for your question. You are Mark Vanitas, the son of your parents. That is who you are. But before you beca who you are, you were a part of . Your soul was a part of my whole. Basically speaking, I am your creator."

Mark's eyes narrowed. He already knew all of this from his conversation with Freya, but hearing it from the mouth of Sozin made it all seem a lot more real. Like it wasn't just so lie that he was being told. This was the truth. Mark turned to the side and looked out into the blue sky for a mont as he tried to organize his thoughts about all of this before he finally turned back to Sozin and asked a single-word question.

"Why?"

Sozin humd.

"Why? Why what? Why did I create you? Why did I give you powers? Why did I choose you as my champion out of all the others I created? Or perhaps, why did I never tell you?"

Mark didn't need to answer for Sozin to know that Mark wanted to know about everything, and Sozin just chuckled.

"Your world was on its way towards its own demise, Mark. To you humans, ti moves linearly, but the truth is that ti is a web of events intersecting, changing, occurring both at the sa ti and yet centuries apart. The only creatures capable of seeing all of ti in the world are the seers, and they are our gateway to predicting the future. And the future I saw for your world was not pretty. I created you a millennia ago because I decided that it was my duty to have one of my children stand as the KING to the humans. I have seen what is coming for you and your people, Mark. I have seen it, and I can only say that you currently do not have the strength to defeat it. There is a beast unlike anything you have ever seen before that has finally awakened, and if you do not prepare yourself and the people around you, it will kill all of you before you even have a chance to fight back. I chose you out of all my children, Mark because I saw in you what Zeus saw in Heracles and Perseus, what Thetis saw in Achilles, and what Hers saw in Luke. I saw the potential to be the greatest hero of your ti."

Sozin grabbed Mark's face and turned it up so that Mark was looking him dead in the eye. Mark was shocked by the intensity of Sozin's stare. Sozin no longer had that easy-going smile or mischievous grin that he would normally have. Instead, there was an intense look of foreboding that told Mark that Sozin was being dead serious!

"Look at , Mark. I am not fucking playing around. The gods are not going to continue interfering in your world for much longer. We cannot help you win this war. Our job was always to awaken the potential within the creatures on Earth and give them a fighting chance, and now that we have done that, we can only sit back and wait for what will happen. You need power, Mark. You need to make sure the humans possess enough power to face what is coming for them. Whether the humans win or the anima win, the gods will not intervene anymore. It is up to you to secure your position as the dominant race in your dinsion. Do you understand?" Your next chapter awaits on My Virtual Library Empire

Mark grit his teeth internally as the many questions on his tongue threatened to co out. Why were they thrown into this war? What other dinsions are out there? Why did they have to fight against the anima just because the gods said so!? But the inteisity of Sozin's stare pinned donw on Mark and forced Mark to first answer Sozin's question.

Mark had to struggle to stop himself from speaking for a few seconds before he finally nodded to say that he understood. Once Mark was sure that Sozin accepted the answer, Mark spoke up as Sozin started to float backward.

"Why are we doing this, Sozin? Why do we need to fight each other for the chance to be the dominant race? What do we gain from doing this? It sounds like so sick joke that the gods are playing for their own amusent!"

Mark didn't know why things had suddenly spiraled out of control the way they had. Humans had been the dominant race on Earth for a long ti, so hearing that the anima now had a chance to beco higher than them in the dinsion was enough to irritate him! The anima just showed up one day out of nowhere and started killing people! What right did they have to lay claim to the Earth? Was this how every single world out there did things!?

Sozin could see the confusion in Mark's eyes, and he just shook his head.

"It's the flow of ti and space, Mark. It's the way of nature. If things weren't like this, then your dinsion would end up in a constant state of war and destruction that would decimate everything within it. With one dominant race presiding over every other one, there will be peace and a sense of governance. That's why you are doing this. So rember this: unless you wish to be governed by the anima for the rest of humanity's existence, I suggest you fight. Fight and grow stronger like your life depends on it! I'll be rooting for you, Mark. So no matter what happens—well, no, if you lose, then I'll fucking laugh at you for the next million years! So you better win, you idiot!"
