The girl, Eva, and her group of n had beco the highest authority in the slums, and they collected monster-protection money from every single person in the slums, claiming it was insurance to ensure they didn't get eaten by the beast that protected Eva. And since nearly everyone in the slums knew about the strange disappearances and mutilated body parts that are usually left behind after anyone tried to lay a hand on Eva, they all had no choice but to obey.
Anyone who didn't pay the money was given to the beast as its al, and anyti the girl realized that everyone was paying the fee, she would increase the price the next day so that more people would not be able to pay.
But on this night, the girl and her n moved on a group of people who had ford their own little gang. This gang was selling drugs to the residents in an area of the slums, and the girl did not like the fact that they were getting money from the residents without her permission, so she ca with her n and attacked them. Every gang in the area paid protection money to her, but this gang refused to do that. The girl could not let that slide.
But it turned out that the girl and her n had underestimated the strength of the drug dealers. The drug dealers had managed to smuggle guns into the slums, and they opened fire on the girl and her n once they faced off, killing many of them at once. The girl cried out in fear as she was shot in the shoulder and leg and she called for the beast, begging it to aid her.
But the beast did not move. Instead, it watched curiously to see what would happen. This scene seed so familiar to what had happened on the first night that the beast and the girl t, and the beast realized with so surprise that the girl had beco the very evil that she had been fighting against on that night. If the drug dealers did not have guns, would the girl not have done to them exactly what it was that they were doing to her? It was a cycle. A brutal cycle.
At that mont, the beast gained an understanding of sothing that it had been trying to figure out for a long ti now. Humanity was not just strange. They were repetitive. They did not learn from their mistakes, and in ti, they always ended up right back where they started out.
Did a species like this deserve to exist?
The beast started to feel a new emotion in its heart as it stared at the humans beneath it.
Disgust.
It felt disgusted by the very idea of what humanity was, and it felt disgusted by the twisted and two-faced nature of humans. Its disgust slowly began to grow until it had morphed into hatred. The beast began to view humanity in the sa way humans viewed livestock. A mindless race with no true purpose in life.
After so ti had passed without the beast showing itself, the drug dealers realized that the beast was not going to co to help the girl, and they began to move toward her with obvious lust in their gazes. The girl had tears in her eyes as she realized what was about to happen and she shouted for help from the beast, but no help was coming for her. The beast had grown bored of its experint.

"Beast! Beast, where are you!? Beast, help !"
The beast slowly turned and walked away from the slums, its eyes now showing a higher level of intelligence than ever before, and in the depths of its heart, a new belief had taken root.
Humans are not worthy of the lives they have been given.

[Raven's Gym]
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Raven sat on the edge of the boxing ring in the middle of her gym as she watched Mark practice his breathing exercises. Honestly, Raven couldn't believe that he was sitting here right now! Raven had been shell-shocked when she got a ssage from Mark a few days ago saying that he wanted to co back to the gym for more training. The first thought that ca to Raven's mind was, 'What the hell can I teach you!?'. Raven had been keeping up with news about Mark for a while now, and she always saw him when he went out to take care of stray anima that were preventing the cleanup crews from taking care of the damage done to the country properly.
Mark's power and skill were far above what she could manage now, so there was nothing more she could teach him when it ca to straight fights or brawling. But Raven didn't dare say any of this because she realized just who it was that she was talking to at that mont! Right now, the most powerful man in the entire world was asking her for help with training. Only an idiot would turn down an offer like that.
And that was how the most powerful man in the world ended up sitting in her gym and practicing breathing exercises.
Raven knew that the only reason her gym stayed intact even in the midst of all the madness that went through the country was because of its location. Since there were no residential or comrcial buildings around her gym and many of the houses were abandoned, the anima weren't drawn here and they all moved outwards toward the most populated cities and left Raven's area alone! In a way, it was both a blessing and a curse for her gym to be located in such a bad spot.
Raven knew that if she were to put out a single picture of Mark sitting in the middle of her gym like this, she would be getting no less than a thousand people willing to sign up every single second!
But Raven wouldn't do that. The only reason why Mark was still coming to her gym was because he knew she respected his privacy, and he gave her more than enough money that she wouldn't ever need to worry about getting any other custors as long as he kept coming. Raven was more than happy to leave a few days empty just for Mark to co here. And even if Raven wanted to put his picture up on the wall, she couldn't. Would you want to risk pissing off the most powerful man in the world? I don't think so.
"I can feel you staring."
Raven blinked when Mark suddenly spoke up, and she cleared her throat and turned away from his face. Raven didn't even know that she had been staring at him all this while, and she wondered how the hell he was able to feel her stare when his eyes were closed! Maybe it was sothing related to his blessing?
Mark continued to breathe for a long while, and Raven waited and watched to make sure that his form was correct. There was no slouch in his posture and he was breathing at regular intervals that were engineered in a way that would reduce his heart rate and achieve a state of zen. The two of them just sat there silently for a long ti, but it wasn't long before Raven felt sothing changing in the environnt.
A bright light started to glow from the tattoo that Mark had on his forehead, and Raven's eyes furrowed as she wondered what the hell was going on. Mark had been coming here for a few days now to ditate, but this was the first ti Mark's tattoo was glowing like that!
