"I thought this was a eting between kings. Not a king and his advisor."
These were Mark's first words to Ephraim once he was close enough to him, and Ephraim stood from his chair and extended a hand towards the seat opposite him. Even though Ephraim did not like the tone that the demon lord just used with him, Ephriam understood that he had to keep up appearances until he got what he was after.
"We have heard of your recent exploits against many of the angel outposts, and we decided it was best if I heard what it is you have to say before risking the life of our young king. After all, if your offer is as reasonable as you made it seem over the letter, then there will be no need for you two kings to et. Things will be settled right here and now. Please, have a seat."
Mark eyed the seat in irritation for a mont before he turned to Ephraim. Mark had a sudden urge to throw this entire eting into the gutter at that mont and just return with his army. It was obvious that the angels were disrespecting him, as well as all the demons that ca all the way here for this eting. They were practically saying that the demons were inferior to them and did not deserve to et the king. But Mark cald himself and looked at the bigger picture. Ruining things here would lead to another long period of fighting, and it would take even longer before Mark could get the two races to et like this again for a peace treaty.
It was better to talk things out with Ephraim and see how things go.
Mark grabbed the seat and pulled it back to take a seat while everyone else that he ca with stood behind him. Ephraim leaned back in his seat and imdiately spoke up.
"The ssage you sent through Duke Grant inford us that you desire a peace treaty. Now, I don't know if Duke Grant made a mistake with his ssage or if there was a misinterpretation of his words, so I want to hear it from you directly. Is it true that the demons would be willing to halt all acts of violence against the angels and sign a peace treaty that prevents either side from attacking the other?"
Mark nodded calmly and said that it was true.
"This has been going on for a hundred years and both sides have suffered great losses. It's about ti it ca to an end, don't you think?"
Ephraim didn't say anything for a while. He just looked at Mark curiously as he searched Mark's expression for any sign of deceit. Ephraim had heard from Duke Grant that this demon lord was different from the others. In the letter that Duke Grant sent to the king, Duke Grant spoke about how the demon lord was not a murderer or rapist that didn't take any prisoners. Instead, the demon lord had captured non-combatants and was holding them prisoner without harming them. That was enough to spark the king's curiosity, and if not for the duke saying all that, this eting would have never happened.
Ephraim turned to the angels standing behind Mark, and he saw the look of acceptance on the faces of the two siblings as well as the blank look on Duke Grant's face. The demons that ca with Mark had distrustful looks on their faces, but Ephraim ignored them before turning back to Mark. Stay connected with My Virtual Library Empire
"You know, I'm surprised that this day finally ca. I always thought the demons would eventually try to achieve peace after their forces had sufficiently dwindled enough, but I didn't think it would be one of the demon lords that would do it. Very well, since it is peace that you want, we aren't against it. We angels are peaceful creatures. But there are conditions that must be t."
Ephraim reached to the side and one of the soldiers there handed him a parchnt that had been signed and sealed using the king's insignia. Ephraim handed the parchnt over to Mark with a calm gaze in his eyes and as Mark began reading the docunt, Ephraim started to speak up as well.
"Our conditions are simple. First, you will release all of the prisoners that you have captured. Then you will remove yourself from our land and sign an agreent that declares your surrender to our forces. Then, your people will agree to a paynt of five thousand high-grade mana stones a year for the next ten years in order to cover the damage done to our forces. And finally, we will be taking the land on the southern side of the demon continent. From Milicand all the way down to the Rinad desert. Those are our terms."
Silence spread across the field at the declaration as the demons stared at Ephraim in shock. Even the two angel siblings who ca with Mark couldn't help but stare as they wondered what the hell Ephraim thought he was doing!
Ephraim kept his eyes locked on Mark's own and Ephraim was a little impressed when he didn't see any sort of reaction on Mark's face other than his eyes narrowing slightly.
Mark spoke up in a cold voice.
"Are you fucking with ?"
Ephraim blinked as he heard Mark speak. What?
"I'm sorry…?"
"I said, are you fucking with right now? Do you really think you have the right to ask for all that?"
Ephraim cleared his throat.
"The demons have taken a lot from our people, it is only right that they pay this much at least."
"And how much have you taken from us?!"
Riger shouted from behind Mark as he drew his sword, and everyone there imdiately erupted in shouts as the peaceful conversation was broken! The angels activated magic circles on their palms and aid them towards the demons, and the demons also brought out their weapons and activated their dark magic as they prepared for a fight!
Riger continued to shout!
"I knew we shouldn't have listened to the demon lord! You fucking angels are never going to change! How dare you ask for anything after what you've done to us! n! This is where we take the capital city! Prepare to attack!"
Riger shouted out to the demons behind him, and more than half of them roared in acceptance as they readied their weapons. Riger had made sure that most of the soldiers that ca with them were from his direct troops, who were not in favor of the peace treaty. Now that they had gotten this close to the capital city without any resistance, it would be easy to siege the city and kill the king!
Up in the sky, Mildred and the other Air Force mbers quickly attacked Arit with magic spells! Arit put her hand up and managed to use it to block so of the spells as she was thrown to the ground, and the Air Force charged towards the angels as they followed Riger's army.
A coup had begun!
Mark had just been sitting silently as he watched the entire army descending into madness in front of him. But once Arit was touched, Mark's aura flared to life!
DOON!
Everyone present stopped moving as they all felt the aura, and Mark slowly got up to his feet as the table in front of him cracked in half.
Mark growled out his next words to no one, but every single person there couldn't help but feel like he was talking directly to them!
"You know what, fuck this. Fuck the peace treaty. Fuck the trial, and fuck all of you. You think what you've gone through so far was a war? I'll show you a fucking war."
DOOM!
