There had to be sothing else. So hidden trick that the demons were trying to play on them. Duke Grant was sure that accepting this deal without thinking about it properly would put them into a situation that they would never benefit from!

Duke Grant was about to turn Mark's offer down for the final ti and begin the war imdiately, but Jas suddenly spoke up from beside him, stopping his father in his tracks.

"I believe we should accept this deal, father."

The look Duke Grant gave his son was one of shocked silence! It was the sa look you would give to a mute if they suddenly spoke to you in perfect English!

Every single angel in the room had the exact sa look on their face as they all turned to Jas and wondered what had happened to him. Did he lose his mind sohow?

Jas saw the looks of disbelief on their faces and he understood. The angels had always been told to never trust demons and that belief had served them well for a long ti. But for so reason, Jas could sense that this demon lord was different. Even when the demon lord was going around destroying the strongholds to make sure that the angels couldn't use them, Jas noticed how most of the won and children were left alive while the soldiers were spared so long as they surrendered. No other demon lord has been known to hold back in spilling blood or taking won like that.

Jas turned to his father and spoke confidently.

"I understand why you are against this, father, and honestly, I share your worries. But we cannot deny that this is a good deal. We can win both our land and our people back without resorting to aningless bloodshed, and all that is at stake for us is a single letter."

Duke Grant's brow furrowed in anger.

"Are you telling to trust this demon, Jas? Have you gone mad?!"

"Father, he is right!"

All eyes finally turned towards the last person anyone expected to speak up in this eting. Rachael walked forward with all the shy confidence of soone who was trying her hardest not to run away and spoke up in defense of Jas' decision.

"I have been with the demons for a few days now, father, and even though I cannot speak for all of them, I know that the demon lord is different. The demon lord has been holding onto the won and children, as well as the prisoners of war, for a long ti now and not a single one of them has been touched by the demons! No one was raped or killed, and they all spoke about how the demon lord protected them! He protects them so that he can give them back after we sign the peace treaty, and he spared the lives of the soldiers who attacked him when I pleaded with him to do that. You were wrong, father, there are trustworthy demons out there and he is one of them."

"Shut up, you foolish girl!"

One of the angel generals around spat out in anger as he ordered Rachael to shut up! They all thought he was talking nonsense and they would never take the words of so one-winged angel seriously! The general couldn't believe that both of Duke Grant's children were advocating for the demon lord! Were all the angels in this new generation stupid!? Did they grow weak because they hadn't see the sa amount of bloodshed that the older generation had seen!

Rachael was imdiately cowed once the man told her to keep quiet, and she almost stepped back in fear, but she grit her teeth and stood her ground before turning back to her father again.

"The demon lord will keep his word, father. I can bet my life on it."

Duke Grant let his eyes drift from his son towards his daughter slowly. They were both advocating for this deal for so reason, and he couldn't understand why. What was it about this demon lord that made both of his children turn against their own principles and begin trusting him? The person that was most surprising to the Duke was his son Jas. The Duke had always known Jas to have an upright and patriotic character, and he never expected his son to suddenly agree to sothing like this!

"So what will it be, Duke? Will you spare your forces the bloodshed or shall we go to war?"

Mark looked towards Duke Grant and asked this question, then the Duke stayed silent for a few seconds while his mind raced. Duke Grant turned towards Jas once more, and Jas gave his father a nod, telling him to trust him once more. Finally, the Duke spoke.

"Fine. We'll have your battle."

"Duke—"

One of the n at the side spoke up in surprise, but the Duke raised his hand to stop the argunt that he knew was coming. They were not going to be talking about this. He had made up his mind and there was nothing that they could do about it.

The Duke continued talking.

"My son, Jas, will be fighting for the angels. Choose your warrior."

Mark shook his head.

"No need to choose. I'll face your son. Shall we do it in three hours so both sides can prepare?"

Duke Grant nodded, and then Mark and the rest of the demons left back to the castle. Once they were gone, the mbers of the angel race that were present in the eting all started to speak up in disbelief.

"Duke, you can't be serious! Are you really going to trust those demons?!"

"We should just launch a large-scale attack and erase them! Don't let them fool you like this!"

"But what about the captured angels? If we attack them, then the angels would also be killed."

"They are demons! I'm sure they plan to kill those angels either way! We shouldn't let them fool us!"

"They'll try sothing once they get a chance! Just watch!"

"I am not in support of this madness!"

All the angels there were voicing their complaints loudly, and after a while, the Duke slamd his hand on the table to force them to be quiet. Once they cald down a little, the Duke spoke up.

"I never said that I was going to trust the demons. I only said we would have the battle. Jas is the one who would be fighting for us, and we have all seen his abilities, haven't we? He is the youngest angel to reach the SS tier and he recently learned how to use the forbidden light spells. If anyone here can take on and kill that demon lord, it is him. And once the demon lord is dead, we won't have any need to worry about the demon army. We will simply erase them all and take what is rightfully ours."

The Duke turned to Jas once he said all this and gave him a searching look to see if Jas was ready for what he had to do, and Jas nodded once.

Jas knew that the demon lord was dangerous. Even though Jas trusted this demon more than any other one, that did not an Jas didn't want him gone. At least this way they could prevent a lot of bloodshed while still killing the demon lord and taking back their castle.
