[Upper Districts of City C - The Airport]
"Is that him?"
"No, he's taller than that. You have his picture, stop asking stupid questions."
"I'm a little rattled is all. Do you think he knows?"
"No, I'm sure he doesn't… I hope he doesn't."
In the airport terminal of City A, large crowds of people can be seen walking out from the reception area after their planes landed. There were many n and won waiting for their loved ones and friends while carrying cardboard plaques or waving their hands high with smiles on their faces.
But among this crowd were two people who were standing separately from everyone else. It was a man and a woman, and they were both wearing full black suits and sunglasses. They had a single commlink in their right ears, and from the serious expressions on their faces, anyone would know that they were there on very serious business.
The man looked to be in his late thirties. He had black hair and a thin goatee on his chin. His hands were folded across his chest, and every now and then he would look down at his watch to check the ti as if he was running late for sothing. The woman, on the other hand, looked a lot less composed. She looked to be in her early twenties, and she was frowning while glancing around constantly.
Her hands were also folded across her chest, but she was tapping a finger on her bicep nervously.
These two were agents from the Superhuman Alliance that had been sent here to retrieve soone very important. Normally, they would never allow themselves to be this exposed, but after the information that they got from their agent in Nature Academy recently, they knew that exposing themselves was the least of their concerns right now.
After Turner and Tina learned about Arit and the fact that she murdered Francis and Esralda, Turner imdiately reported the incident to Alec Ben and told him everything that Maria told them.
Normally, Turner was supposed to have reported the incident to Luna first, and then Luna was supposed to tell the Superhuman Alliance herself, but Luna had been absent from school for a long ti, and Turner did not know if it would be wise to tell her about this due to her relationship with Mark.
Turner had already seen the video that showed Luna hugging Mark and talking to him softly, and Turner knew that Luna was compromised. Luna had a soft spot for Mark, and Turner did not know if telling her about this would lead to it being buried or not.
In the worst case, Turner knew that Luna might even confront Mark about this first, and that might end up with them losing their chance to bring Mark and Arit in for questioning. That was the last thing Turner wanted to happen, so he decided to tell Alec Ben about all of this first.
Just as Turner predicted, Alec Ben imdiately sprang into action. Alec was very justice-oriented, and he cared more about bringing in criminals than any sort of popularity, so he told the governnt what happened and asked for a task force that he could use to deal with this. The two agents standing in front of the airport terminal were a part of that task force.
The man suddenly perked up as he saw soone walking out from the airport reception post and tapped the woman on the shoulder gently.
"That's him. Let's move."
The woman almost jolted from the sudden action, but she managed to keep her cool and nodded as she followed behind the man. They walked past the crowds of families and friends who were hugging each other happily and made their way to a man dragging a bag behind him while walking quickly to the exit.
The man they were after looked to be in his late forties. He had so white hair strands standing out from his blond hair, and his black eyes were narrowed into a serious look as he headed toward the exit.
"Mr. Arthur Clayborn."
The man suddenly stopped when he heard his na being called, and he turned around in surprise to see two people wearing suits and approaching him. Arthur was imdiately on guard as he took a step back, but the agents didn't give him a chance to go far before they were right in front of him. The male agent reached behind him and brought out so ID.
"My na is Ethan. I'm an agent of the governnt. I need you to co with ."
Arthur frowned in annoyance once he heard that and spoke up while turning around to leave.
"I have to get sowhere first. I'll co and answer whatever questions you have for when I'm done with my business."
Arthur turned to walk away, but the female agent stepped forward.
"Mr. Clayborn, you can't contact your daughter, can you? There is a reason for this. Please co with us. We'll explain everything so you'll understand better."
Arthur stopped in his tracks once he heard the woman say this, and he turned to them in shock. Arthur was Arit's father, and he had been trying to contact Arit for the past few days since he heard the news about the attack on City F. Arthur knew that Arit was going there for the festival since she told him about it. He even sent her so money for her to use to buy anything she wanted.
Arit told him not to worry about the money, but he knew that it was a father's job to take care of his daughter, so he sent it anyway. When Arthur heard that two Elder Eldritch monsters had attacked the island, he almost had a heart attack on the spot! Just knowing that Arit was on the sa island as those monsters was enough to put the fear of death into him!
Imdiately after the attack, Arthur called Arit to ask her if she was okay. Arit picked up the phone and told her father that she was fine. She assured him that she wasn't injured seriously and had only to spend a single night in the hospital to rest.
That was two months ago, and Arthur had been calling Arit once a week since then to make sure that everything was fine, but lately, for so reason, Arthur hasn't been able to get through to Arit at all. It first happened a week ago. Arthur called, but he wasn't able to get through to Arit. He has been calling over and over again since then, but there was still nothing.
Arthur even tried calling Mark, but he wasn't able to get through to Mark either.
After a week of this happening, Arthur got a ssage from his company telling him that he had stacked up enough work hours to go on leave. Arthur imdiately decided to use his ti off work and co down to the Federation of Arica to find out what was going on for himself.
Normally, a request for leave like this would take at least another week before it was approved, but surprisingly, Arthur's request for leave was imdiately approved, and he was allowed to go. He didn't think too much about this and just boarded the first flight to Arica, and now that he was here, he was being confronted by agents.
Arthur had no idea that it was actually the Superhuman Alliance that planned all of this from the start. The Superhuman Alliance needed him back in the Federation for them to be able to complete their plan, so they orchestrated everything perfectly to make sure that he ca back here.
They jamd all his calls into Arica to make sure that he couldn't contact Arit or Mark, and then they made his company grant him leave once he requested it.
