The first hearing for Salazar's trial was an absolute disaster. The courtroom was filled with people who despised Salazar, and even before the judge could start the hearing, people were already trying to attack him while throwing stones. There was even one man who managed to sneak a gun into the courtroom, but he was apprehended before he could shoot.
It was like watching so sort of witch trial in modern tis. The enforcers from the Superhuman Alliance all tried to keep so sort of order, but it was almost impossible to calm the people down, and they ended up having to postpone the trial since it was getting out of hand.
Throughout all this, that bastard Salazar never stopped smiling.
The second hearing was a lot less dramatic. They prevented civilians from being able to co and watch, allowing only a few mbers of major news channels and guild leaders to attend the trial. Mark didn't see Luna at the trial, and he was a little surprised. Mark hadn't heard from Luna since the Eldritch fight, and even though he knew why, he couldn't help but be worried about her.
He decided that he would call later to see how she was doing.
Although the second hearing was a lot less dramatic than the first, it was still one of the most intense hearings that Aricans had ever seen. The judge almost threw up twice while trying to look through evidence of Salazar's cris, and they had to change the judge after a while to a superhuman who could stomach the pictures.
An enforcer from the Superhuman Alliance almost attacked Salazar when a certain picture ca up, and Mark wondered if the person in that picture was one of the man's family mbers or sothing. Journalists raved in anger the longer the trial went on, and there was a small interval where they had to stop the hearing when people got a warning of a bomb being planted under Salazar's seat.
It was absolute chaos.
But after the hearing was concluded, Mark could say for certain that people hated this man. Love it or hate it, Mark couldn't deny that the governnt's plans were working.
They were steadily shifting the bla for everything from a large organization to one single man, trying to make everyone in the country bla only Salazar for the cris that were committed while painting the governnt in a better light for trying him like this.
News channels and blogs went crazy after that second trial. They were talking about how awful Salazar was as well as his unrepentant attitude toward the entire thing. Because even in the midst of all that chaos, Salazar never stopped smiling.
"That Salazar is really twisted. Who can look humans in the eye while doing sothing like that? That guy has to be worse than Jack the Ripper or sothing."

"I puked twice while watching the trial. I don't think I'm going to be able to stomach the third hearing. Maybe I should just wait for the sentence instead."
"Did you guys see the third picture they showed? It looked a lot like my dad. My dad's been missing for a long ti now, and we haven't been able to get a single clue about where he was. Do you think that is my dad? [Picture Attached]"
"Oh yeah, that's your dad alright. Congrats, you're an anima-baby."
"That's not funny. The poor girl is trying to find her father, and you're making it worse. Sorry, but even if that is her father, I'm sure there are better ways to tell her that."
"Nope, better to just tell her straight, that's your dad #animababy."
"There have been many riots in front of the courthouse. People are asking for Salazar's head like this is so sort of dieval ti where we still burn witches at the stake. And honestly, I can't find it in to tell them to stop. Soone like Salazar definitely deserves to be burned alive."
"Hey, I know this is going to be controversial, but isn't Salazar, like… hot? The way he just smiles in the middle of all that hatred and accusations. It does things to ."
"Girl, I know what you're talking about. I felt the sa way. That motherfucker can ram any day!"
"You people are disgusting. You know he literally turns humans into anima, right?"
"Yeah, and? He can turn into an anima while blowing my back out any day."
"Girl, serial killers are always the sexiest of them all. This guy is a genocidal maniac. That has to be like ten tis sexier."
"I'm going to na my dildo after him."
"… Fucking animals."
Things like these were flying all over the internet, and people were all talking about the most controversial hearing to date. Mark just watched the entire hearing with a detached lancholy that almost bordered on boredom. He wasn't interested in the hearing actually. He couldn't care less about that. But he was interested in the ending.
Mark wanted to know what sort of sentence they would give Salazar. If it was anything other than the death sentence, Mark was going to go over to that Superhuman Alliance building and kill that bastard himself. Mark didn't care if everyone in the world tried to stop him. Mark would just march in and kill him.
"Big sister, can you help with my hair?"
Talia's voice brought Mark out of his thoughts, and he smiled at her as she ca up to Arit with her wet hair. She was coming out from the bathroom with a large towel wrapped around her body and a new, larger teddy in her hand. Arit smiled at Talia and told her to co along as she took her to help her dry her hair.
Mark managed to heal Talia's shoulder using his healing aura the previous day. Once Mark was sure that he could use it on others as well, he easily healed the fracture in Talia's shoulder. Jeanne was shocked by the new ability that Mark had.
Initially, Jeanne didn't want to heal Talia because Jeanne knew that the wound would heal on its own in a few days at most. Jeanne's power took the patient's life force to heal, and Jeanne didn't like using her power on an injury that she knew would be able to heal itself, especially if the injured person was a child who didn't fully understand the consequences of what Jeanne could do.
Jeanne asked Mark about this ability, and Mark just told her that it was from his blessing. What his blessing was exactly is still a mystery to everyone in the world, but Jeanne knew better than to ask too many questions since it seed like sothing personal.
Mark leaned back as he continued watching the trial unfold on TV. Mark knew there was a real possibility that they would try and keep Salazar alive for even longer to make him so sort of show pony, but since the Director of the Superhuman Alliance said that they would kill him, Mark decided to just give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
