Chapter 613: Upgrading the Legion

’It doesn’t matter what I have to do. As long as I can protect what we have right now, then I’ll do it, but I won’t abandon them.’

Jason gained an intensity in his eyes when this thought went through his mind, and he turned to glance at Gina’s sleeping figure one last ti before he finally turned and gazed out of the window and at the slowly brightening sky. The suns in Vanta rose very slowly. And this ant that there was more than three hours of dawn before the day fully began. The bright yellow light from the rising sun struck the ocean in a spray of pure gold, and it cast Vanta in such a beautiful light that it made Jason wish that the sun would keep rising forever.

Jason glanced over at all the system tabs that had opened after he finished his fight against the Beast of the Apocalypse, and he slowly began to go through all of them. The first few tabs about the new Resonance skill that he got were what drew his attention the most, and Jason realised that he had sohow managed to not only succeed in combining two of the most volatile power sources in the known world, but he also got the system to recognise it as a skill! Jason could now combine mana and Qi without any stress, and the only thing he would have to worry about was the Resonance Poisoning effect that ca with the combination.

——

[At Current Rank, the user will gain a 10x Power Boost when Resonance is activated]

[At Current Rank, the disease [Resonance Poisoning] will progress by 10% every second when Resonance is activated]

——

Those were so amazing benefits for the skill. Having a ten tis power boost when the skill was only at A Rank was unbelievable, so Jason could only imagine how much more power he would have if he raised the skill to SSS Rank or even TITAN Rank. He might be able to boost his power by up to a hundred tis easily!

But the only downside to that was the [Resonance Poisoning] side effect that activated whenever Jason used the Resonance skill.

’Honestly, I don’t know if it’s luck or fate that keeps you alive, but you are probably the most fortunate person I have ever t in my life. Anybody else who tried sothing so foolish would have been blown to a million pieces, and their body would be destroyed and scattered across the Primordial Expanse as fertilizer. So you should be grateful that all you walk away with is a new skill and an inactive disease.’

Jason couldn’t help but laugh when he heard Esdath speaking from inside his Alternate Dinsion. There was still a sense of disbelief in Esdath’s voice – almost like he couldn’t believe that Jason had sohow managed to survive the mixture of mana and qi – and Jason knew that Esdath would eventually ask him for help in figuring out how the power worked. But for now, Jason was going to try to improve the Resonance skill. Since the resulting power from mixing mana and Qi was stronger than both mana and qi, then it would be better for Jason if he could use that power all the ti without any consequences, and as Jason grows the rank of the skill, he was sure that he would be able to increase the power multiplier of Resonance while reducing the progress rate of the Resonance Poisoning.

Jason swiped the Resonance tab to the side and then took a look at the Unique Skill tab for his Bishops.

’Oh, finally, a healing skill.’

Jason grinned when he saw the skill that he gained from beating the recent milestone. Healing Aura allowed Jason’s Bishops to heal all of Jason’s allies within a hundred-ter radius, but the only downside to the skill was the fact that the Bishops had to be standing perfectly still before they could use the skill. Jason had ten Bishops right now, and each of them was powerful in their own right, so it would be a little disappointing if he had to remove one of the Bishops from an important fight just to use it as a healer.

’Guess I’ll just have to find the Bishops that aren’t contributing to the fight and use them whenever I need to heal the people around

quickly.’

Jason already knew that his subordinates were all very good at healing themselves, so they mostly wouldn’t need to have any help from the bishops to survive, so the skill [Healing Aura] was ant for Jason to use on his allies that weren’t part of his Legion. Jason couldn’t allow his regular allies to die in the sa way the Legion did, after all.

Jason closed that tab as well once he was done looking through it, and he finally looked over at the tab showing his stats. Jason had grown exponentially from all the battles he had been in recently, and both his Qi and mana had grown stronger as a result of the Resonance he had done. Jason looked through his kill points, and he whistled when he saw that he had nearly five million of them. But even with so many, Jason knew that there wasn’t really anything to it, and it would all probably be drained away by one high-level upgrade. For example, the Beast of the Apocalypse that Jason just got as a subordinate needed a whopping ten thousand upgrade points in order to reach the next rank of Knight Rank I. That ant Jason would need to use a million Kill Points for the Beast alone! By the ti most of Jason’s subordinates begin to reach the Bishop Rank II and III levels, Jason would need a lot more than just five million kill points. But as far as right now was concerned, Jason could still use what he had to upgrade the Pawns and Rooks that had completed their Hierarchy Progression.

’First, I’ll upgrade all the Pawns by one level. The Rank III Pawns will beco Rooks, and the other two ranks will move up as well. I should still have enough to upgrade so of the Rooks after, right?’

Jason looked over his stats, and he nodded when he saw that he would have enough for the upgrades, and the system brought up a tab.

[Would the user like to convert 1,212,321 Kill Points to Upgrade Points? Yes/No?]

Jason chose yes, and the points were converted before they imdiately shifted towards the subordinates that Jason had picked out.
