Chapter 228: A True Coward

"So you can feel when your subordinates die as well?"

Katarina looked up at Jason in shock, and she felt a tremor go through her heart when she saw the knowing look on Jason’s face. Katarina just felt the link that she had with her brother shatter to pieces. The only reason sothing like that would happen was if all of her mana was completely removed from her brother’s body... or if her brother was killed.

Katarina suddenly felt an intense feeling of sadness fill her heart at the realization of what had just happened! Even after everything that she had done to her brother and all the evil that her brother had committed in her na, Katarina still loved him dearly! He was one of the only people that she still cared for in this world, so it was almost too much for her to bear when she realised that he was gone. Katarina put a hand over her mouth to stop a sob from escaping and she fell back to her knees. Jason brought his sword forward and used it to lift Katarina’s head to face him again, and Katarina tried her best to control her sobs as she faced Jason’s piercing gaze.

Jason spoke in a commanding tone.

"I really don’t give a fuck about your sadness now. In fact, the only thing your crying is doing is pissing

off. You have no right to feel sad after all the fucked up things you’ve done. I might not be able to kill you because of that Rune, but there are still ways I can make your life hell if you don’t give

exactly what I want. Now, tell

everything that happened when you faced the Primordial."

Katarina sniffled once more to try and clear her throat, and she hesitated for a few seconds before she finally began to explain in a low, sad voice. She started from when the five Rulers went into the Gate and t with various monsters. They fought off so of the monsters there and were making progress, so they thought that they were going to be able to close the Gate easily, but they had been seriously mistaken!

Before they could even fight against the Green Gate Boss, another Ripple opened up in space and from that ripple, a creature walked out. Its figure wasn’t sothing that Katarina could explain with words. It was almost like staring upon sothing beyond human comprehension. She just couldn’t wrap her head around what it was! All five Rulers were affected seriously by the creature’s presence, and when the creature spoke, two of them passed out!

Its voice resonated deep in their heads, and when Katarina tried to explain what the sensation felt like, Jason could see genuine terror in her eyes! It was as if she was reliving that mont all over again, and she could still feel the fear that she felt then! Katarina had to quickly move on and she started to explain what the creature had said. It told them that it was a Primordial and its mission was to prepare the humans for the coming of ’The One Above All’. Its people were on a mission to colonize all of the Primordial Expanse, and they decided that Earth would be their first colony in this part of the Primordial Expanse.

But the Primordial wasn’t interested in returning to Earth with the Rulers. Instead, he was willing to send them back to Earth alive, but in exchange, they had to do sothing for him. There was a prophecy from one of their Primordial Seers that spoke of a man who would be strong enough to oppose their conquest. That man would be the King of Earth and his presence would delay the coming of ’The One Above All’. If they wanted Earth, then they needed to take care of this man first. But the issue was that the Seer did not yet know who this King would be or what he looked like. The Primordials were a race of very long-lived beings and so they were a very patient group, so they decided that they would give the task of finding and killing the King to the Earthlings themselves.

The Primordial promised them that if the five of them found this King and ended his life before their next coming, then they would not only spare the five, but they would also ensure that the five were given significant power in the new world order. All they had to do was kill one man.

It was a tempting offer. All five of the Rulers had been S Rank superhumans at the ti, so they were regarded as the strongest of humanity, and all five of them could feel that they did not possess the power needed to take on a creature like this! In fact, even now that Katarina as well as every other mber of the Rulers had grown far stronger than before, and even the whole planet had also grown more powerful, the Rulers knew that they still did not stand a chance against that one single Primordial. It was a terrifying thing to imagine what sort of power the rest of the Primordial race would possess, or what sort of monstrosity sothing as strong as the Primordials would refer to as ’The One Above All’.

"So you see what I ant now, when I told you to simply fall on your sword and die? Don’t you think it is a rcy you should be willing to grant us? If you truly think that the world deserves any form of protection, then this is the greatest thing you can give us. Lay down your life so that we can live. Sacrifice yourself so that the rest of us will stand a chance at survival. Please... I beg you. My words alone are not enough to convey that creature’s power. You would never be able to understand it unless you saw it yourself. You would never know true fear unless you stood before its power. It is not sothing we can withstand."

"I see..."

Jason took his sword away from Katarina’s throat, and Katarina’s eyes widened when she saw the nonchalant look on his face! Was he really going to ignore all her warnings? Did he think she was joking!? Jason’s eyes were empty of all emotions, and he gave Katarina a condescending look before he spoke up.

"You really are the biggest coward I’ve ever seen if you think killing the one person who could have saved you was your only option. That’s why you never stood a chance both now and back then, you’re the sort of person who gives up before the battle even begins. The coward who runs away at the first sight of danger. If the Primordial wants my life, then let them co. I’ll give them a fight unlike anything they have ever seen, and I will make sure they suffer for their ambitions. ’The One Above All’ can go fuck itself for all I care."

Katarina could only stare up at Jason in shock as she heard his words and the absolute confidence that was laced in them. She fell back to sit on her knees, and she couldn’t stop a self-pitying laugh from escaping from her mouth. Her mind travelled back in ti to what had happened after the Primordial appeared. There was another man who ca into the gate just when they thought there was no more hope for them. Soone who was strong enough to challenge the Primordial without fear.
