Chapter 159: True Understanding

Congratulations, the user has completed the mission [Discover the mastermind behind the Siblings attack]!

1000 Kill Points

The user has gained the S Rank Artifact [Beginner’s Luck]

——

A ring suddenly appeared in Jason’s hand, and he humd as he turned it over curiously. The ring was dark silver and had a design of a four-leaf clover wrapped around it. Jason activated [Appraisal] to get a better look.

——

Beginner’s Luck

Rank: S

Durability: 100%

Boosts: MAX Luck for first 10 Seconds of a conflict

Description: A ring that once belonged to the king of the gnos but was stolen and hidden by Richard Marc after they had a disagreent years ago. It grants the wearer a maximum boost to their luck stats for the first ten seconds of a fight and ensures that no attacks by any enemy in those ten seconds will cause the user any harm.

The ring’s durability will reduce the more the user uses it. In order to maintain its durability, the user must carry out occasional maintenance on the ring.

——

’That’s very useful.’

Jason couldn’t help but be impressed after reading the ring’s description. This basically ant that for the first ten seconds in any fight he gets into, he would be free to do whatever he wanted without having to fear any retaliation from the enemy. If Jason played his card right, then he could end every fight in the first ten seconds and never have to lose again!

Jason imdiately put on the ring and he felt his mana surge for a second as it got used to the new foreign artifact before it finally settled back into its normal frequency once again. The ring fit well beside the [Stormheart] ring that his father had also gotten for him, and Jason couldn’t help but wonder what sort of lore his father had that allowed him to get so many useful artifacts.

’I’d love to hear his story soday. Let’s just wait till I find out where he is first. I’ll beat the shit out of him for leaving mum like that, then we’ll sit down and talk.’

Jason tightened his hand into a fist and shook those thoughts out of his head before he turned back to the two siblings standing in front of him. Jason waved his hand with an order, and the siblings vanished from sight and entered into his Alternate Dinsion. The wolves that had been tearing into the bodies of the two siblings ca back with two large Magic Crystals and the dagger that Rosa had been using. Jason threw the Magic Crystals into his Alternate Dinsion since he planned to sell one and eat the other, and he rolled the dagger around expertly while activating [Appraisal].

Due to a special action, the skill [Appraisal] has grown stronger.

[Appraisal - A]

——

Nightwalker’s Companion

Rank: S

Durability: 85%

Boosts:

50% Strength,

50% Stamina

Description: A blade carved from the tooth of the Vampire Bat. It possesses the special characteristic [Bleed], which causes any wound inflicted with the dagger to constantly bleed unless the wound is closed by a skilled healer. This is a sufficiently powerful blade for the user’s current skill level, but the system suggests the user acquires a more powerful blade for future use.

——

’Not bad. At least it’s better than the Wolf’s tooth.’

Jason tossed the dagger into his Alternate Dinsion and he humd as multiple tabs suddenly opened in front of him.

’Seems they’re almost done.’

Jason didn’t bother looking with the [Eye of the King] to see if Fenrir was almost done clearing out the Gate. Instead, he turned to Darren and Henry and told them to listen up.

"The others are already gathered at the exit, and if we don’t get there soon, they’ll leave without us. We’ll be heading out now, but first, we need to get our story down."

Both Henry and Darren swallowed at the serious look on Jason’s face, and Jason gave Darren his attention when he saw him raise his hand. Darren was still shell-shocked by what he had seen and couldn’t stop himself from asking.

"W-What is your Gift, boss?"

Jason waved his hand in a so-so manner.

"It doesn’t matter."

Henry took a step forward.

"You just resurrected the fucking soul from those dead bodies! Of course, it fucking matters!"

Jason gave Henry a hard look.

"No, it doesn’t. I’m not asking the reason behind your secret, am I?"

Henry grit her teeth while folding her hands across her chest and taking a step back from Jason. There was nothing she could say to that, so she wisely chose to stay silent. Jason turned to Darren and saw that Darren was still curious, and Jason sighed as he finally spoke.

"All you need to know for now is that I am a Necromancer. That is my real Gift. Now, we need to figure out our story."

Darren smiled.

"Don’t worry, boss! We won’t tell them you killed the instructors!"

"No, it’s fine. You can tell the Enforcers that I did it. They won’t believe anyone else in this gate is capable of sothing like this. But we all know that they attacked us first, so that ans what I did was..."

Jason looked from Henry to Darren in a questioning manner, and Henry’s face squeezed into a look of pure disbelief! She was able to imdiately understand what Jason was trying to tell them but it was so insane that she couldn’t barely believe it! Her voice ca out in a low whisper.

"You want us to say that this was self-defense...?"

Jason smiled.

"Exactly."

"You can’t possibly expect

to—!"

"You’re completely right, boss! This was all self-defense!" [A/N: I fucking love this dude lol]

Henry turned to give Darren a look of shock! What was this bastard saying!? Darren spoke to Henry with a look of rare seriousness on his face!

"They tried to kill us and the boss killed them as punishnt. If you ask , then that’s self-defense! It doesn’t matter if they were begging for their life! What matters is who attacked first!"

Jason was starting to like this bastard more and more! A smile spread out on Jason’s face and Jason pat Darren on the back while nodding sagely.

"You have a very good head on your shoulders, young one."

Darren folded his hands across his chest and nodded back like an apprentice appreciating the praise from his master.

"Thank you, sensei. Your praise ans very much to !"

"Stop playing around you bastards! What the hell are you talking about!? This—this... fuck this is insane!"

Henry fell to her knees and held her head in her hands as she glanced at the dead bodies! There was no way they’d be able to fool the Enforcers like this! They were all going to jail! She couldn’t believe her career as a superhuman ended before it even began!

A hand landed on Henry’s shoulder and Henry turned to see Jason giving her an understanding look. He turned away for a second before he sighed and spoke calmly.

"Don’t worry... I completely understand. You’re delusional from the stress."

"Eh?"

A question mark appeared over Henry’s head and Jason nodded at her.

"You’re so traumatized by what you’ve seen that you think I murdered these two. They attacked you and I helped save your life, but your desperation to forget what they did to you made you senile."

"I-I’m not senile—"

Another hand landed on Henry’s other shoulder and she turned to the other side to see Darren leaning down with a similar expression as Jason. He spoke with a soft tone.

"Yes, Henry. You’re completely senile."
