"Now co, I believe it is almost ti for your first class. It would be best if you head back before the teacher gets to class. And if there are any issues at all in the future, just find a way to get the news to Cleo here, she'll make sure it gets to in ti. Cleo, please ensure they are taken care of, won't you?"
Cleopatra nodded in agreent and she stood before thanking the headmaster for the tea respectfully.
The three students left the office together and Cleopatra frowned down at Maddison once the door was closed.
"That was pathetic. Didn't I warn you against doing anything stupid in front of the headmaster?"
Maddison looked away from Cleopatra with a downcast look on her face. Cleopatra glared at Maddison for a few more seconds before she turned to Azrael. Azrael looked squarely at her and Cleopatra humd.
"I won't have ti in my schedule for a while, but when I'm free, I'll summon you for a conversation. Do not be late."
And with that, Cleopatra left the both of them behind and headed towards the elevator.
Once the both of them were alone in the hallway, Maddison sniffled once more and spoke in a quiet, pained voice.
"Azrael… are we really as bad as everyone says we are? Are we monsters?"
Azrael spoke up with slight anger laced in his words.
"Don't ask stupid questions, Maddison."
…
The class that morning passed uneventfully.
For most of the class, Azrael was spaced out as he thought about the question Maddison had asked him when they ca out of the headmaster's office.
Were they monsters?
Azrael had never thought of himself as a monster. He was soone who wanted to be powerful against all odds.
Azrael refused to be weak and he didn't care what he had to do in order to gain the power he was looking for.
The world wasn't a bed of roses or a silly novel. Azrael wasn't going to suddenly gain so unbelievable power by being kind and refusing to do evil.
He wasn't going to find his true purpose by becoming so saint who tried to appeal to the image of morality that the world had painted for him. That would only end up with him remaining at the bottom of the food chain for his entire life.
Azrael would rather take his own destiny into his own hands and do what he had to do, regardless of how the world views his actions.
Azrael was a survivor.
Azrael glanced to the side to look at his system tab and opened the status bar.
…
Status: Cursed by Necrosis
Rate of Propagation: 3%
Days Till Complete Propagation: 9 Days
Comnt: User is in the Safe Zone
…
Azrael had more days now compared to the last ti he killed a demigod and Azrael wondered why that was.
Was it because he killed two demigods?
No, that made no sense. Azrael killed three demigods the last ti and he only got seven days from the system. Azrael thought about it for a few minutes and he figured that it had to be because of how strong the demigods he killed were.
Francis and his lackeys all had F Ranked god Aspects, so they weren't that strong, but Romanov and her fiancée had D Rank and E Rank God Aspects. That must be the reason why he had more ti now.
That ant that if Azrael wanted more ti between curses, he would have to kill stronger opponents.
This thought made Azrael think about his next course of action. Azrael needed to find a demigod that could see the God Aspects of other demigods.
Azrael didn't have anything against killing anyone that he wanted to, but that didn't an he wanted to just kill indiscriminately without knowing what sort of ability he was going to be getting from the person he was killing.
If Azrael wanted to make sure he got useful abilities, then he needed to find a way to see what God Aspect he would get from them first.
Azrael doesn't recall ever hearing about such a God Aspect from any of the students in his year, so it was unlikely that he could get that ability from any of them. And trying to find the God Aspect from the students in the higher year was only going to create more trouble in the long run.
If he asks too many questions and finds out that there was soone with such a God Aspect in the higher years, and then that person ends up being killed later, the first person that they would suspect would obviously be Azrael.
"Who is the class captain again… I think your horoom teacher said it was Azrael Mortis?"
Azrael heard his na being called and he looked towards the teacher curiously. The teacher spoke up once he had his attention.
"Make sure to collect the assignnts from your classmates on the class tablet tomorrow and forward it to my email. I'll leave the rest in your hands."
Azrael blinked in surprise.
Which assignnt?
Azrael looked down at the screen on his desk and he saw that there was a new file notification there. Azrael opened it and he saw the assignnt. It seed simple enough, so Azrael decided he would do it at the last minute tomorrow.
Azrael still didn't like the fact that he was the captain of the class, but the duties that Scar told him about last week didn't seem like they would hinder him too much, so he was going to just get through it.
Besides, the benefits seed to outweigh the disadvantages. He was going to be paid two thousand dollars a month for this job, and that money was going to go a long way in helping him with finances.
And in a twisted, almost sadistic way, Azrael was happy that he took the position away from Jane.
Azrael was not a vindictive person, but there was just sothing about the look of pain on Jane's face every ti she had to stand beside him as a vice-captain.
It was pure ecstasy.
The bell for lunch rang and Azrael got ready to go to the cafeteria when a figure appeared in front of his seat. Azrael looked up to see Jane Ashton standing there. She had a small frown on her face, like she would rather be anywhere else but here and Azrael shared the sentint.
"What is it?"
Azrael asked as calmly as he could and Jane raised a brow.
"You were spaced out again during class, weren't you? You've been like this since middle school, I wonder how you passed your exams. Did you even hear what the assignnt was?"
Azrael sighed in irritation and grabbed his bag.
"I heard just fine. What do you want?"
Jane huffed and finally told him that they had to go.
"Mr. Scar wants us to go to a eting with the captains of B Class."
Azrael frowned slightly since he didn't hear anything about that and Jane just told him that it was said earlier during horoom.
"You ca in late, so you didn't hear it. Co on, I don't want to be late."
Azrael cursed silently as he stood to follow Jane. Azrael had planned to use the first half of lunch to get in so more ditation for the Litany of Ascension, but with this eting, he wouldn't be able to get in any training unless he missed lunch.
