Sobin lived a very simple life.
If sothing wasn't his business, he would simply not mind it.
So would call this a very selfish life, but he also didn't care what others said about him. He had long realized that the key to a happy and peaceful life—at least, to him—was in simply minding his business and surrounding himself with what he liked.
As such, he didn't even care about this world or even Earth. Fresh chapters posted on Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
He only wanted to be with his wife, their unborn child… and to continue his career as a deliveryman.
Being a Rider in this world scratched the itch of the latter, but how could he be fulfilled without the first two? As a result, he was very motivated to complete the Quests and return ho.
Which was why—
'I can't ignore this negligence of theirs!' Sobin's eyes shone with dissatisfaction as he rose to his feet, his fists clenched in annoyance and resolve.
"I want to speak to your manager!"
His voice was loud, thunderously echoing within the large room without an ounce of restraint.
Even the robot-man felt the pressure from the corner of whatever room he was broadcasting from. The condescending look he gave Sobin, and the overbearing attitude he had displayed just earlier, quickly collapsed.
"W-what are you talking about?" The man asked, his words faltering. "I just explained the situation to you. Don't worry… we'll soon be done processing your order, so just be a little bit patient."
"No!" Sobin's frown grew deeper as he narrowed his gaze on the man before him.
He quickly saw the man's natag attached to the right chest region of the robot and laughed to himself.
"I bet you'd like to hear what your manager has to say about your behavior today… Greg." Sobin's folded arms gave him an appearance of authority, and he shook his head disapprovingly while glaring at the now powerless man before him.
"Please don't…" Greg knelt at this point, clasping his tal hands. "Things are tough enough as it is. I can't afford a complaint. If you do this… I might lose my job."
"You should have thought of that before you decided to waste my ti with your nonsense."
"Please! I'm sorry I did that! It won't happen again, I promise. You can't make lose my job, please… I have a family, sir!"
Sobin's expression remained the sa—he didn't care.
He already knew how difficult the job market was at the mont. If Greg lost his job, especially if he was fired due to reported bad behavior, the chances of being rehired or hired by another company was very low.
After all, there was a large demand for jobs by people trying to earn extra Social Credit Points.
Most people couldn't live comfortably off the money that the governnt provided, so they required an additional source of inco.
It was clear that Greg was one of such people.
If Sobin took this action, he could cause Greg and his whole family to fall on hard tis, ruining their lives in the process. He knew this fully well, and while he didn't actively seek to cause trouble for others, Sobin didn't think he would lose sleep over this outco.
'My wife and unborn child are waiting for right now. I have no idea what's going on on Earth right now, but it's been three months since I ca here. Her pregnancy would be reaching its late stages now, which ans my child will soon be born!'
Sobin didn't have ti to waste or dawdle around with aningless people like Greg.
Yet Greg and his colleagues chose to waste his ti!
That was an affront that Sobin wouldn't let slide—no matter what.
"I was calm with you at first, but you just kept pushing…"Sobin said this while looking down on Greg with extrely cold eyes. "Do you think I haven't t people like you before? Do you think I don't know how long it takes to assemble weapons or crate them? What do you take for? A fool?"
Sobin didn't like to think too much about his past.
He was a deliveryman for sure… but what kind of a deliveryman was he?
Sure, he started off delivering things like Pizza and all manner of goods, but at so point that wasn't enough. At so point, he got roped into the criminal underworld and started serious business with so serious money.
As a result, he had peddled more weapons and illegal goods than what he would have liked to admit.
After going through such a dangerous life, he was certainly no pushover.
He simply did his best to keep his head low since he was in another world with no real power or weight to his na.
But—
"As an A Rank Rider, I'm sure my words will have more credibility than yours. You and your entire unit will receive appropriate punishnt for slacking off on your duties and wasting my ti. Now… unless you want to make matters worse for you than they already are… take to your manager."
"O… okay…" In the end, Greg had no choice than to comply.
He already knew how impossible the situation was for him. He also understood that Sobin could indeed make matters worse for him.
After all, a formal complaint on Greg's behavior as a person could influence his Social Evaluation by the governnt, reducing his Social Credit Score. Plus, the corporation could use Sobin's complaint—if it was severe enough—not to pay the appropriate severance package.
After considering all of this, Greg easily recognized the best option for him.
Losing his job was already a guarantee, but he wasn't about to lose the other perks that would only make his situation worse.
Plus, based on Sobin's words, he wasn't the only person who would be reported.
All of the workers in charge of the goods would also be affected, which ant he wouldn't have to suffer for the collective decision of his team.
This, at the very least, made Greg satisfied within himself.
—Schadenfreude at its finest!
In the end, Sobin made the report, and it was confird that the company would handle the matter. Sobin was promised remuneration for the delay, and was finally able to retrieve the crates of weapons after waiting for a few days.
During this period, he went out and killed so Monsters as a ans of completing so side Quests.
After he left, Greg and his colleagues indeed got fired.
However, that wasn't the end of their story.
They would reappear before Sobin in so other chapter as completely changed people.
Whether this change was for the better or wose… ti will tell.
As for Sobin, he successfully delivered the weapons to a particular Outpost which was frequented by many settlents that had Monster Infestation problems.
Due to the governnt's limited military personnel stationed in the area, these civilians had ford their own militia and had ard themselves to protect from Monsters and Plunderers.
They had a big sponsor, so they could afford to privately purchase and own weapons.
Sobin only nodded at them with so semblance of pride and nostalgia as he left the Outpost.
He also had his fair share of weapons back ho…
