Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Entry-Level

BANG!

The figure was flung into the air again, then slamd viciously to the ground.

He was moving so fast he was almost a blur.

The ground caved in several inches.

The black tail, like a living python, thrashed and struggled madly, trying to break free from Hu Qi’s grip.

But against Hu Qi’s terrifying strength, it was all in vain.

"So, you’ve got so fight in you, huh?"

Hu Qi sneered, showing no intention of stopping.

He lowered his center of gravity, his arm muscles tensing as veins bulged on their surface.

He actually started spinning, holding the creature by its tail.

His body beca a high-speed top, swinging Chen Fan through the air in a series of dizzying arcs.

It would have been one thing on flat ground.

But this was a cetery, with rows of stone tombstones standing everywhere.

This ant Chen Fan’s body was constantly smashing against them.

The hard tombstones shattered on impact, sending stone fragnts flying in all directions.

Chen Fan was helpless, completely unable to break free.

He could only let out agonized, shrill roars that echoed through the silent cetery, adding to the horrifying atmosphere.

「A few minutes later.」

Hu Qi stopped, his body swaying unsteadily.

The abrupt halt after all that spinning left even him feeling dizzy.

Thankfully, the feeling didn’t last long. As his Qi and Blood circulated, he quickly recovered.

The black tail in his hand was now limp, like a deboned snake, with no strength left to struggle.

Following the tail with his eyes,

he saw Chen Fan lying motionless on the ground.

The eerie black mist around him had long since dissipated, revealing Chen Fan’s original face.

His clothes were in tatters, his body was drenched in blood, his limbs were twisted at unnatural angles, and sharp stone fragnts were embedded in his torn flesh.

He was a grueso sight.

He was completely still now, apparently dead.

HUFF... HUFF...

Hu Qi’s chest heaved violently.

He picked up his Horizontal Blade, which he had stuck in the ground nearby, and walked straight toward Chen Fan.

Just as he reached him, Hu Qi raised his hand, preparing to cut off his head.

To him, a finishing blow was essential when dealing with the Black Blood Species, given their powerful Life Force.

However, before Hu Qi could strike,

Chen Fan’s eyelids suddenly snapped open.

He looked at Hu Qi.

"Don’t kill... . I’m begging you..."

The mont he spoke,

it was as if a hazy, demonic sound washed over Hu Qi.

It froze him in place.

「In an instant.」

All sorts of thoughts ca flooding in.

It was as if voices were echoing in his ears.

"Do monsters deserve to die?"

"Even as a Black Blood Species, I’m still a living being. We just want to live. What’s wrong with that?"

"If you hadn’t co to kill us, I wouldn’t have attacked you."

"This is all your fault!"

...

Seeing Hu Qi’s movents halt,

a strange smile crept across the face of the blood-soaked Chen Fan lying on the ground.

He had discovered that ever since his transformation,

so of the things he said carried a strange, persuasive quality.

Before, he had simply thought it was because he was an eloquent speaker.

But just a mont ago, after devouring that living person,

his body had undergone so kind of unknown change.

He could clearly feel his own power, as well as his own special ability.

Bewitchnt!

This was a unique ability that he himself could control.

As his strength grew, this ability seed to be getting stronger and stronger.

He had tried using it on this man at the beginning, but unfortunately, the man’s will had been too strong, and it had failed.

’I’d heard before that so special people can hunt our kind. I suppose this must be one of them.’

’The energy contained in the flesh and blood of these people... and the taste... it’s nothing like what you get from corpses.’

’Ah Ling, you were right. As superior beings, we should eat living people. As long as I eat this man, I’ll definitely be able to complete my tamorphosis and beco even stronger.’

Looking at Hu Qi,

a greedy look filled Chen Fan’s eyes.

After tasting living flesh, his mindset had completely changed.

After this brief reprieve,

thanks to the powerful Life Force of the Black Blood Species, his injuries seed to have recovered slightly.

His tail, which had been lying limp beside him, slowly began to rise. However, he didn’t attack imdiately. The mory of his opponent’s terrifying defense was still fresh in his mind.

He slowly adjusted his angle, preparing to aim the sharp bone at the tip of his tail at Hu Qi’s eye socket for a fatal blow.

However, just as he had his angle aligned,

just as Chen Fan was about to finish Hu Qi,

「Suddenly.」

"Bullshit! If you don’t deserve to die, does that an I do?!"

Hu Qi’s eyes suddenly cleared, and he roared in anger.

A flash of his blade glinted as he swung it down violently.

The resentnt and glee on Chen Fan’s face hadn’t even faded before his head was split in two.

Dark red blood instantly shot several ters into the air, like a geyser pressurized to its limit.

"Wh... why?"

A hoarse, intermittent voice escaped Chen Fan’s lips.

His tone was filled with confusion and disbelief.

He didn’t seem to understand how Hu Qi had been able to resist his interference.

But his question would receive no answer from Hu Qi.

Once the spray of blood began to subside,

his body collapsed to the ground.

Seeing the black tail go limp once more,

Hu Qi’s face was a little pale, and a wave of fear washed over him.

’If I’d co to my senses a mont later, I can’t even imagine what would have happened.’

He waited for a mont, and seeing no reaction, he slowly walked forward.

He swung his Horizontal Blade down again and again, hacking and chopping until the body was reduced to little more than a pile of at pulp.

Only then did he stop.

HUFF... HUFF...

Hu Qi’s chest heaved.

The abnormal state of his Cloud Iron Body gradually faded.

His gaze fell upon the at pulp that was once Chen Fan.

A look of astonishnt showed in his eyes.

’What was that just now?’

He thought back to the strange state he had been in.

It was as if he had been completely bewitched.

For a mont, he had actually started to feel pity for the creature.

Hu Qi knew exactly what kind of person he was.

He would never have such thoughts about sothing like this.

He then recalled Xie Fei’s strange remarks from before.

At the ti, he had thought the man was just confused.

But now, it seed likely he had experienced the sa thing.

’This ability is truly bizarre and terrifying.’

Hu Qi’s expression was grim.

’If a surge of killing intent hadn’t risen from the bottom of my heart, allowing

to briefly regain my senses, the consequences would have been unthinkable.’

Thinking of this,

an idea struck him.

He looked at his panel.

[Ghost Slaying Saber (Entry-Level)]

"Just as I thought."

A hint of joy flashed across Hu Qi’s face.

His Ghost Slaying Saber had finally reached Entry-Level.

Unfortunately, because he had used all his previous Modification Points to upgrade his Snake Form Posture and Cloud Iron Body, he had no way to improve the Ghost Slaying Saber right now.

However, it was precisely because he had used all his Modification Points to increase his power...

If he hadn’t,

it was uncertain whether his Cloud Iron Body at the Mastery level alone would have been enough to withstand the lashing of that tail.
