Chapter 40: Interrogating Chloe
Emily, as soon as she heard Jack’s explanation, a cold sweat appeared on her back, because it was exactly how she planned to buy Lara’s supermarket.
If what he said was true, then the damage would be beyond what he said now. It would surely destroy our life completely. Jack didn’t have any reason to destroy our friendship. Emily already sowhat believed the possibility, but she still wanted to give her friend a chance.
In her mind, it was a 30-year friendship since childhood. There was also another thought: what if everything Jack said was true? All these years, was everything a lie? If it’s proven true, then she deserved to be punished. After thinking this through, she looked at Jack and gave him a final nod.
Jack looked at her finally making a firm decision and sighed in his heart. Who would expect that one day the person you believed in the most would backstab you suddenly like that? The situation was like this—whom to bla? That bitch Lara was indeed a rare breed of lunatic.

The night passed swiftly, and morning arrived fast. It was already 10:00 in the morning. It was Sunday, so everyone was at ho.

Overall, she looked attractive, not as good-looking as Alice, but she was fuckable. I thought she would also look like Lara. If I found her unattractive, the pink mist would also avoid her, then the plan to take her under my control would fail.
Chloe at first drove her car to the familiar place following the location sent by the chief. After that, she wondered why the location was Aunt Emily’s house as she entered the house in confusion.
She saw Aunt Emily at the entrance of the hall. She just smiled at her and didn’t say anything about what was happening. She invited her inside the hall and walked her towards the room. As she opened the room, there was an exact setup made like an investigation room.
The room was completely empty, with only a big table and chairs around it.
As soon as she walked inside, she gave Alice a salute. "Chief."
Alice returned to her icy deanor and gave her a nod and said,
"Sit down."
After she sat down, Alice started to question her about different things, because she was already doubting whether she was a spy from the side of the old mayor. Also, Jack asked her to question Chloe for an hour; in the anti, the pink mist would affect her completely.
During the questioning, she confird with 90 percent certainty that she was not a spy planted from the other side. After all, she was just a new joinee and was still in her training period. From her answers, she could easily determine these things. This ability was attained by her through years of questioning criminals.
If the opposite person told a lie, their facial reactions and so other things would be instantly identified in her eyes.
On the opposite side, Chloe, at first, when she entered the room, slled a nice perfu that made her mood sowhat pleasant. But after being questioned by the chief like this, a cold sweat started to appear on her back.
Was she suspecting her of sothing? Suddenly, her mind went to the day she passed the information about their supermarket to her useless uncle in secret.
Would those two idiots start to spread so rumors, and then it reached the chief? Was that why all of these things were happening?
I already knew I should not ddle in the matters of those ungrateful people. It’s all because of my mother, still believing naively that her useless brother still cared for her. That’s why when she heard these things while I was speaking on the phone with my senior colleague, she started to compel

After all the warnings I gave them not to leak this news to anyone, otherwise everyone would be finished, because of these idiots, my entire career is at risk now.
Alice, after questioning her, got up and left the room. Jack looked at Chloe’s face; a sowhat panicked expression started to appear on it, and he noticed the reaction from her body. He confird the pink mist had also started to take its effect and looked at her.

Why did you leak this information about this case to your uncle? You should consider that your entire career, life, and everything will be decided based on how you answer this question. So answer truthfully."
Chloe heard the man, who was silent for an hour, suddenly speaking after the chief walked out of the room.
Could it be that this person was an even higher official than the chief? Her fear inside her mind instantly doubled.
Chloe started to explain everything that happened and how the information was passed.
Jack asked, "Did you like your uncle’s family that much, even risking your career for them like this?"
Chloe, as soon as she heard this, beca irritated inside and said,
"If not for my mother caring for those ungrateful people, the situation would not have escalated this much."
