Chen Xiao didn't ask much.

He followed his teacher's wife, Qin Qing, into the house.

As they walked, the teacher's wife said:

"He just fell asleep for his nap; he'd be really happy to know you ca."

Chen Xiao nodded with a smile.

After entering the room, Qin Qing didn't hesitate and directly pushed the teacher, Wang Dahe, awake.

"Wake up, look who's here."

Wang Dahe groggily opened his eyes.

Chen Xiao also clearly saw that his right leg was in a cast, wrapped in thick bandages.

"Chen Xiao, why are you here!" Wang Dahe was full of surprise.

Chen Xiao laughed and said, "I happened to co to my wife's place, and I realized it's been ages since I visited you, so I ca to see you and the teacher's wife."

Qin Qing smiled, nodded, and left the room.

Wang Dahe turned serious, pointing to the bookshelf and said, "On the second shelf, the third book, I placed a newspaper inside; please get it for ."

Chen Xiao got up and took the newspaper out of the book.

But at a glance, he saw it was the edition where he appeared on the front page headline.

"Is that you in the newspaper? The back view looks familiar! And the na's the sa, but honestly, I find it hard to believe!"

Chen Xiao smiled wryly.

It seed that people who knew him, whether family or friends, would always be so shocked.

Even shocked to the point of hesitating to call and ask.

Chen Xiao nodded, "It's ."

Wang Dahe was incredulous: "So during these two years you didn't co to see

because you went off learning how to solve cases?"

Chen Xiao was taken aback, "The way you put it, that seems reasonable."

Wang Dahe imdiately burst out laughing, "Not bad, not bad, I knew it... A boy who always keeps his teacher in his heart couldn't possibly beco an idle loafer, right? Besides, I asked around about your wife, she's genuinely outstanding!"

Chen Xiao didn't intend to explain more, but shifted the topic:

"Teacher, the teacher's wife said your accident was because of drinking? I rember you weren't fond of drinking?"

Wang Dahe looked ashad: "I had no choice; after teaching for so many years without much progress, as I get older, I still wish for a chance to advance further. But who would have thought, accompanying so leaders led to this leg problem."

As he spoke, Chen Xiao could see that Wang Dahe was genuinely embarrassed.

Chen Xiao laughed and said, "At least it only needs so rest to heal, nothing too serious happened."

"Ah, don't worry about . Instead, tell

about your matters. Don't be humble, don't hold back! You can't imagine how much I wanted to tell others the one in the paper was my student, but I feared they'd say I was boasting too much!"

Chen Xiao nodded and shared the events of the recent ti with Wang Dahe.

During the recount, the latter didn't interrupt, but his expression kept changing.

By the end, he raised a thumb with a face full of satisfaction, "Remarkable, truly remarkable! I never imagined that one day you'd grow to be so outstanding!"

"No need to praise

that much, teacher." Chen Xiao felt a bit embarrassed and then inquired about other matters:

"By the way, teacher, have you published any articles in the past two years?"

Wang Dahe quickly waved his hand, "Don't ntion it, maybe it's because I'm getting older, my mind's not as sharp. Now, whenever I write sothing, it keeps getting rejected by publishers."

Among the people Chen Xiao knew,

especially among the elders,

it's Wang Dahe who absolutely embodied the scholarly temperant.

Especially when Wang Dahe was young, loving literature and being handso, annually he was the most charming teacher in the hearts of the students!

But ti ages us.

Even though Wang Dahe still appeared thin, the light in his eyes had dimd considerably.

He no longer possessed that innate lancholic aura from before.

Now, he seed sowhat depressed.

Perhaps, it was caused by his talent being unrecognized.

Gradually, Chen Xiao felt he didn't know what to say anymore.

Whatever he said might lead to so sadness for Wang Dahe in the end.

Like talking about writing.

The light in Wang Dahe's eyes that appeared after seeing him, quickly faded away again.

But this couldn't be addressed by Chen Xiao, nor could he offer any help.

Moreover, whether or not Chen Xiao considered himself successful, he didn't think casually offering help was advisable.

Even if it was soone deserving respect like a senior, it's essential to be mindful of the degree of help.

If not handled well, it could be a backfire.

Gradually, Chen Xiao steered the conversation back to himself.

He noticed that only when talking about his sowhat successful matters, would Wang Dahe show eager anticipation.

He didn't know how long they talked.

Qin Qing brought in a bowl of rice wine with poached eggs without alerting him.

Chen Xiao looked at the eggs piled up and couldn't help but smile wryly, "Teacher's wife, you do this every ti, knowing I can't finish so much!"

"How would I know if you ate before coming or not? I rember a certain little boy once too shy, lied about not being hungry with an empty stomach!"

Chen Xiao chuckled.

He accepted the sweet wine poached eggs from the teacher's wife and started eating them in big bites, regardless of whether he was full or not.

After finishing, Qin Qing discreetly gave him a look.

Chen Xiao could understand the aning of that look.

It was asking him to chat more with Wang Dahe.

Chen Xiao nodded in response and continued sitting by the bedside, chatting for a while until Wang Dahe couldn't lie down anymore.

"Do you have anything to do this afternoon? If not, push

out for a walk!"

"Sure, my parents are with my father-in-law anyway."

Wang Dahe was delighted, slowly moved onto the wheelchair from the bed, and Chen Xiao pushed him along the road, reminiscing about past school days.

After talking so much, Chen Xiao increasingly felt that his most respected teacher seed truly burdened with worries now.

Yet, during their conversation, he carefully avoided revealing topics that might open up his heart, always sticking to the positives, glossing over anything negative.

But as Chen Xiao was pushing him back ho, Wang Dahe suddenly patted Chen Xiao's hand pushing the wheelchair.

"Chen Xiao, do you feel that your teacher is different from the image you had in mind?"

Upon hearing the question, Chen Xiao frowned.

The frowning was not because the question was awkward.

But because he didn't know how to answer.

If he said they were the sa, Wang Dahe wouldn't believe it, thinking instinctively that Chen Xiao was comforting him.

If Wang Dahe perceived that Chen Xiao rely wanted to comfort him, he would completely lock away his heart.

But if he said they were different, then Wang Dahe might beco dejected, sinking deeper into self-denial.

Looking at his teacher in front of him, Chen Xiao also questioned himself: Is he really suffering from depression?
