Chapter 155: It’s Over

After breakfast, Jax was slightly surprised when Mari retired to her bedroom instead of pestering him as he had expected her to.

Didn’t she say she was bored? Why did she leave that way? Was it because Diva was around? He mused as he headed for his bedroom, unable to shake off the slight disappointnt he felt.

She had been silent through breakfast, and as much as he had wondered what she was thinking, he had held himself back from asking her. He just couldn’t trust her not to say sothing crazy because she seed to always be thinking of sothing crazy.

He chuckled to himself silently as he replayed their conversations in his head.

She was crazy. Far crazier than he ever imagined possible.

When Alex had said he wanted him to keep Mari safe, he had expected a spoilt pampered princess, not a crazy one.

He walked into his room, and decided to make a list of dos and don’ts which he would give to her, since he didn’t want a repeat of what happened that morning.

Once inside his room he took out a journal and pen from a drawer in his closet and he sat on his bed as he carefully and neatly on it.

1. Do not co into my bedroom. (You have no business on this side of the house.)

2. Do not call

baby or daddy.

As he wrote it, a smile tugged on his lips, and he paused and looked down at the journal.

This was just too childish and cringe for him. And knowing her as he was slowly beginning to, he doubted she would pay attention to anything on the list.

Mari did what Mari wanted.

He looked up when a knock sounded on his door, and he half expected it to be Mari. "Co in."

The door opened and he sighed inwardly when Diva walked into.

"Can we talk?"

"Haven’t we talked enough for one day? If it’s about Mari’s behavior towards , or mine towards her, I have nothing more to say. I’ve told you all I have to say," Jax said simply.

"What can I do? I an to fix things between us? I made a mistake. I realized too late how I feel about you and..."

Jax exhaled loudly, "Diva, please. Could you please not do that? You know what? Let’s call this whole thing off. Leave."

Diva shook her head, refusing to believe that he ant that. "Jax..."

"We both know you don’t want to see

lose my temper. I’ve tried to be reasonable and calm with you but it’s just not working. Get your stuff from the room and get out, else I’d call in the guys to throw you out. Don’t think I won’t," he threatened.

Tears dropped from her eyes, and she quickly brushed them off. "Alright. Fine. I’m sorry. I won’t bring it up again. I won’t. I promise. I’ll just keep being your lover or warming your bed..."

"No. I don’t want you to be that anymore. Just leave. I hate that you are making

feel like a jerk. And you know what’s more annoying? Realizing that I no longer have any respect left for you. I don’t know when I lost it, but I do not respect you..."

She cut in before he could finish, "But I don’t mind..."

"I mind! I can’t be with soone I do not respect. That’s not the kind of man. That’s not the kind of man I want to be. I don’t want to be with soone who is okay with being disrespected! You should move on," he said, watching her as she cried.

Before she could continue, his phone started to ring and he took it out from his pocket. He jerked his head to the door for her to leave, and he walked into his studio as he received the call.

Imdiately Diva stepped out of the room, she froze when she saw Mari standing beside the door.

She couldn’t help feeling embarrassed that Mari might have heard all that Jax said.

Mari had been coming to ask Jax for a pen and book but had paused to eavesdrop on their conversation when she heard their voices.

Mari cleared her throat to speak. Diva glared at Mari, but before Diva could speak, Mari raised both hands.

"Don’t you think he’d throw you out faster if you don’t get along with ? I actually think he would. But if we get along well and you keep

company so I don’t bother him, I believe he might reconsider. And maybe he might change his mind about you," Mari said, and Diva frowned as she brushed off her tears.

"What are you up to? One minute you’re talking about how you want him for yourself, and the next minute you’re acting like you want to help

get him. What is your deal?"

Mari grinned. "How about we go sit down and talk? We don’t want him coming out to see us here, do we?"

Diva looked at Mari for a mont as if contemplating whether she could trust her or not. And then after a mont she jerked her head down the hallway for Mari to go ahead.

Instead of leading her to the living room, Mari led her to her bedroom, and Diva raised a brow when she realized where they were headed.

"You don’t plan to lock

up in there, do you?" Diva asked suspiciously and Mari laughed.

"Why ask

to lead the way if you don’t trust ? Besides, you know the house better than I do," Mari pointed out.

"Just don’t try anything," Diva warned as they entered the room.

"You’re welco to my room. Make yourself comfortable," Mari said, pointing to the bed.

"I’m comfortable where I’m standing. Talk," Diva said, crossing both arms in front of her, "what is your deal? Do you want Jax or not?"

"Want? It depends on what you an. If you are asking if I want to have sex with him, then yes. I think so. He’s hot. But that’s about it," Mari said with a shrug.

Diva’s hands fell to her sides as she stepped forward. "Stay away from him."

"I don’t want to," Mari said, eyeing her with disapproval. "I really cannot understand why you would want a man who has plainly told you he doesn’t respect you or care about you. You stood there crying and saying you didn’t mind..."

"It’s none of your business, just stay away from him," Diva growled. "Stay away from Jax! Please. I love him," Diva said in a more subdued tone.

"You love him more than you love yourself? Or you don’t love yourself at all? You’d let soone talk to you and treat you so disrespectfully? Were you not raised with love? A man says he doesn’t want you, and you’re begging for his love."

"Because it’s my fault. It wasn’t always this way. You don’t understand. And it’s not really your business anyway," Diva said with a shake of her head.

Mari looked at her, curious about the nature of her relationship with Jax and what she ant by it wasn’t always that way.

"Fine. I will think about it. But on one condition," Mari said, and Diva narrowed her eyes.

"You are in no position to give

conditions."

"I believe I am. I have sothing you want," Mari said with a smirk.

"What do you think you have that I want?" Diva asked, and Mari grinned.

"Jax’s attention. And I’m going to hold on to it unless you do what I want," Mari said, and Diva scowled.

"Assuming you’re not delusional and you really do have Jax’s attention, what do you want?" She asked, and Mari shrugged.

"A couple of things. One is a phone..."

"You must be out of your mind if you think I will get you that!" Diva snapped.

"We both know you don’t want

here. Wouldn’t it be better for you if I don’t stay here? If I escaped?" Mari asked, pretending not to know the reason Jax was keeping her.

"Jax promised to keep you safe until..." Diva trailed off when she realized she had spoken without thinking. "You can’t escape. I don’t like your being here, but as long as your being here is important to Jax, you will remain here," Diva said firmly.

"Until what? Why is he keeping

here?" Mari asked, and Diva glared at her.

"That has nothing to do with . Ask him yourself."

"Oh! You want

to talk to him? Alright. I’ll ask him myself later. I can’t assure you that talking will be the only thing we will be doing though," Mari said with a sweet smile that set Diva’s teeth on edge.

"I’m not getting you a phone and I’m not telling you anything. If I do, Jax will cut

off for good. I’m not stupid."

"What if I promise not to escape? What if I just want to talk to my friend and find out how they’re doing?" Mari asked, and Diva shook her head.

"I have no reason to do you such a favor."

"I won’t have sex with Jax if you do it," Mari offered.

"Who says he’s going to want to have sex with you?" Diva snapped.

"You think he won’t? Want to bet on it?" Mari asked, and Diva hesitated.

"Fine. Don’t get

a phone. What if I use yours? You can be here and listen in on my call," Mari suggested. "I won’t only stay away from Jax. I’ll also help you win him over."

"How do I know I can trust you?" Diva asked, and Mari shrugged.

"You don’t."
