After pondering for an entire class, Su Ge decided to go directly to Professor Cheng after class.
With exams looming, the students were all busy preparing, and the faculty was obviously busy as well.
When Su Ge entered, Cheng Jinxi, clad in black, was busily tapping away on his computer.
His severe countenance created an aura of indomitable aloofness and detachnt.
It took Su Ge almost a full second to approach him, and as she did, Cheng Jinxi imdiately stopped what he was doing.
Lifting his gaze, his obsidian-like eyes gently locked onto Su Ge.
“Sorry to interrupt, Professor.”
Su Ge took a deep breath and got straight to the point, “Professor, Mr. Huo’s illness is now in the recovery stage. May I ask if there is still room for negotiation regarding the Huo Family’s compensation?”
Cheng Jinxi obviously froze.
He looked at Su Ge, sowhat disbelieving.
“You an… you can’t be thinking the Huo Family’s compensation is too low, can you?”
What a tough cookie, even greedier than him.
The Ye Family never offered less than ten million for their services.
Was this her first ti treating soone, and she thought ten million was too little?
Cheng Jinxi’s interest was piqued as he watched her.
She had a bit of his old flair.

Despising money like dung was not the style of his Ye Family.
“I…” Su hesitated for a mont but under Cheng Jinxi’s gaze, she still told the truth, “A friend of mine had their parents imprisoned, the case is sowhat complicated, and I want to ask the Huo Family to help investigate if there are any doubts about the case.”
“You’d willingly forsake ten million in compensation for your friend?” Cheng Jinxi’s eyes narrowed slightly as he pondered for a mont, then suddenly said, “Why can’t you have both the fish and the bear’s paw?”

“Take the compensation and also have the Huo Family do you the favor, isn’t that the best of both worlds?” Cheng Jinxi’s lips curled up into a faint smile, as comforting as a spring breeze, “The Huo Family should not refuse your modest request.”
“Is that really okay?”
She thought it would be inappropriate, which is why she considered exchanging the compensation for the favor.
“What’s wrong with that? I introduced you to these connections so you could use them,” retorted Cheng Jinxi nonchalantly.
“Ah?” Su Ge was once again confounded.

She was worried that the professor might rebuke her for being greedy…

Though not as noble, it felt much more relatable.

Such a professor indeed felt much more approachable.

Always sowhat enigmatic in his black attire, Su Ge only then noticed the subtle pattern on his black shirt seed to match the one on the little box he used to carry the virus.
The design was very distinctive.
“Do you need to negotiate on your behalf?”
Caught up in examining the pattern on his shirt, Su Ge hadn’t noticed Cheng Jinxi had already approached her.
