Mariana did not agree with Paul’s words.

She stood up and looked at Paul with a scrutinizing gaze.

“My child, you are too young.”

“Your father passed away too early, causing you to inherit the territory prematurely, which has resulted in you developing an arrogant character.”

Her tone was not one of bla, but contained worry.

“You have no idea how big this world is, nor what kind of powers exist in other parts of this world.”

She sounded a bit sad.

“Alright, I’ll be blunt. The orc invasion is part of the Arcane Society’s plan. I hope you will not stand in opposition to the Arcane Society.”

Paul was silent for a mont, fiddling with his knife and fork. After a long ti, he finally said:

“If the Arcane Society’s plan must co at the expense of Ordo, then I will have no choice but to oppose the Arcane Society.”

“Ha!” Mariana found it sowhat amusing.

“I have to suspect that Princess Catherine is also a hidden witch and has cast a charm on my son.”

“I also lived in Northwest Bay for so many years. Is there really a lord here so loyal to the royal family?”

“You should know, even your father, his feelings toward the royal family were rely…”

Paul interrupted her, “Mother, Ordo is Ordo, and the royal family is the royal family. They cannot be lumped together.”

Mariana said anxiously, “Don’t you know how dangerous this is? Think more about your father, think more about the Grayman family!”

Nathan, who had been eating with his head down, suddenly said, “Alright, seeing that stubborn personality, I can confirm he was also born from you.”

Mariana scolded him irritably, “Shut up!”

Nathan shrugged and continued to bury his head in his food.

“Ahem!”

Butler Philip walked into the dining room.

He had heard the family’s argunt and cautiously requested Paul’s instruction:

“Count, Mr. Wells and Mr. Tennyson, as well as Vice-President Anderson, would like to see you. I told them you were dining, but they all seed very anxious and asked to be sure to inform you.”

Paul found it strange. “Wells and Tennyson are one thing, but how did Anderson get involved with them?”

The butler replied, “They probably didn’t co together; they just happened to run into each other.”

Paul thought for a mont and instructed, “They probably haven’t eaten at this hour. Set three more places.”

Upon hearing the count’s invitation to join him for breakfast, Anderson, Wells, and Tennyson were all very happy and hurried to the dining room.

The three found that there were other people present.

An extrely beautiful red-haired lady, and a young man about the sa age as the count.

Perhaps a relative of the count had co to visit? Because the young man’s features were sowhat similar to Count Grayman’s.

“Please be seated, gentlen.”

“Thank you.”

The three of them sat down at the dining table.

Paul said with anticipation, “You’ve co in such a hurry. You must have made so amazing discovery.”

“A major discovery!” “Absolutely astonishing!” “Epoch-making!”

The three of them stood up excitedly at the sa ti, then looked at each other awkwardly.

“Calm down, calm down.”

Paul smiled and invited them to sit down, then turned to Mariana and Nathan and said:

“These three are scholars, diligently exploring the path of science.”

“I think you might also be interested in spending so ti learning about things in other fields.”

In fact, Paul had considered avoiding them. After all, the research fields of Tennyson and Anderson were quite important to his upcoming plans, and his mother and brother were both mbers of the Arcane Society.

But Mariana’s belittling of him—although it stemd from a mother’s concern for her child—had hurt Paul.

He felt he needed to show off a bit, to give the two magic-users a little scientific shock.

“These two are… my relatives.”

In the end, Paul did not reveal the true identities of Mariana and Nathan.

“Who would like to start by introducing their discovery? Wells and Tennyson? Or you, Father?”

“Please, let Mr. Wells and Mr. Tennyson go first,” Anderson said, demonstrating the humility of a clergyman.

“Well, haha, then we won’t be polite, Father.” Wells’s face was beaming. “Tennyson, you tell him. It’s all your credit!”

“Yes, Teacher!”

Tennyson tried to suppress his excitent and said in a slightly trembling voice, “Lord Grayman, we have finally discovered the crucial factor in steel slting.”

“Oh?” Paul’s eyes lit up with excitent.

Tennyson said with certainty, “As long as we master this key factor, we will be able to mass-produce steel!”

“Wait!” Mariana shot up from her seat with a sharp cry, interrupting Tennyson.

Everyone turned their puzzled gazes towards the beautiful lady.

If it were the old Mariana who only cared about magic, she would not have been interested in Tennyson’s words at all.

But in recent years, as a mber of the Arcane Society, she had been deeply involved in the operations of the Gabella Empire, and had thus gradually accumulated a lot of knowledge in other areas.

For example, what things were important to a country.

Mass production of steel? This was a topic that could make any ruler jump up from his throne.

She gave Paul a reproachful look. This boy was too careless. Shouldn’t such an important matter be discussed in a private place without others present?

Paul asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”

Mariana did not answer him, but looked at her younger son. “You, go out first!”

Nathan pointed at himself and asked, bewildered, “?”

“Yes!”

“Alright!” Nathan shrugged and sullenly walked out of the dining room.

Mariana sat down again. In the end, she could not overco her curiosity.

She said with dissatisfaction, “I think a qualified lord should know the importance of keeping secrets, even from his closest kin.”

“Oh, you are right.”

Paul was genuinely touched. This woman, his mother, was ultimately protecting him.

Alright, he had indeed been a bit headstrong just now because of his pride.

Although he planned to only discuss so theoretical principles with Tennyson and the others, and to stop imdiately when it ca to specific technical details.

But in fact, for so early technologies, it was just a matter of a thin layer of paper. Once that paper was pierced, everything would beco clear.

He said with a grin, “I don’t think you would spread it around.”

Mariana rolled her eyes at him.

Paul said, “Please continue, Mr. Tennyson.”

Mariana’s words had made Tennyson wary. As soone who had experienced it firsthand, he of course knew the great significance of his research.

So he began to choose his words carefully.

“Count, we have conducted countless experints and have finally, under the action of light, uncovered the true nature of the so-called ‘phlogiston’.”

“The elent of carbon. This is the crucial thing we have discovered.”
