TL: Rui88

The knights made way, and a green-haired lady walked out from among them.

“Ooh! A beauty.”

Nathan whistled, a smile returning to his face.

But in the next mont, his smile froze.

In the green-haired lady’s hand, a cluster of flas appeared out of thin air.

As a spellcaster proficient in fire magic, Nathan could tell that this was no magic trick.

Edward exclaid, “A spellcaster.”

Ladi Sertia commanded sternly, “I hope you will not resist. Otherwise, it will be very dangerous.”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk! This beautiful lady, please allow to clarify.”

Nathan recovered from his surprise.

“Perhaps you don’t know, we are the sa as you…”

“The sa as , spellcasters, is that right?” Ladi retorted.

“It is precisely for that reason that we must arrest you!”

Nathan snorted coldly. “And if I refuse?”

“Hey, hey! You two, let’s not start a dispute just yet.”

Edward said in a conciliatory tone.

“Let’s put it this way,” he lowered his voice to Ladi, “has Count Grayman beco your servant?”

Although he spoke quietly, many people could still hear him, and the guards showed angry expressions.

Edward said this because of the old tradition of wizards—seducing a lord in a remote place, making him submit to the power of magic and beco their servant.

This was one of the reasons for the terrible image of spellcasters.

“Then you are mistaken,” Ladi denied. “On the contrary, I am Count Grayman’s servant.”

“Willingly debasing yourself!” Both Nathan and Edward beca angry.

“A dignified spellcaster submitting to a re mortal!”

The atmosphere imdiately beca tense. Muskets were raised and aid at the two of them.

“Alright, everyone calm down!”

A rather dignified female voice sounded.

The carriage door opened, and the red-haired Mariana jumped to the ground.

Ladi’s pupils dilated. “Teacher?”

Teacher?

Paul, Nathan, Edward, and the circle of guards were all stunned.

“What a wondrous fate this is.”

Mariana smiled at her forr student and said, “Ladi, I never thought we would et in Northwest Bay.”

“Is she the genius student you always talked about?”

Nathan rembered sothing. So this was the “other family’s child” his mother often ntioned.

“Uh… uh…”

Ladi did not know what to say.

It was the first ti Paul had seen such a flustered expression on her.

He cleared his throat, attracting Mariana’s attention.

“Beautiful lady, I can find a place for you to catch up. For Ladi’s sake, I promise to guarantee your personal safety. Please co with us. Of course, I will have to search you for any suspicious items.”

“Alright!” Ignoring the perplexed expressions of Nathan and Edward beside her, Mariana agreed.

“Since you already know our identity and have taken a spellcaster as a subordinate, I imagine Lord Grayman is not the type to hold stereotypes against us.”

“And these guards of yours must be people who can keep a secret.”

Seeing her agree, Paul ordered a search, with Ladi being responsible for her teacher.

But an accident happened.

Nathan cooperated very reluctantly and was slightly hurt by the guards.

He imdiately flew into a rage, and flas shot up from his hands.

Clatter, clatter. A large number of muskets were aid at him.

Mariana hurriedly shouted, “You cannot harm him!”

Paul said coldly, “I don’t think he has the awareness of a prisoner.”

He had long been annoyed by this arrogant-looking young man.

Paul pulled out his own sidearm, intending to frighten him.

Nathan sneered, his fighting spirit instantly soaring.

“No, you can’t. Paul, I beg you!”

Mariana was very anxious, her earlier leisurely deanor completely gone.

Fear and worry filled her face.

“He is your brother!”

As soon as these words were spoken, the scene fell silent.

“What did you say?” It took Paul a long ti to react.

“Lady, I understand your desire to protect him, but fabricating such a lie is a bit too outrageous.”

He found it sowhat amusing.

“I do have a brother, but tragically, he died at a very young age. With just that sentence you uttered, I could throw you in prison without any other reason.”

Ladi was very surprised that her teacher would make up such an absurd excuse.

“No.” Mariana cald down, but said with so sadness, “Your brother did not die. He is standing right in front of you.”

Nathan couldn’t help but shout, “Mom!”

This was too shaful. They were just a group of mortals, yet his mother was trying to get out of this by telling lies.

The key was, who would believe such a lie!

Mariana ignored Nathan. She was looking directly at Paul, her gaze unwavering.

“And I am your mother.”

The witch’s lips did not move at all, but Paul heard the sentence clearly and distinctly.

He was instantly struck as if by lightning.

“Haha… haha…”

Paul burst out laughing, pointing at Mariana.

“Did you hear the joke she told?”

“They can’t hear it,” the voice in his head sounded again.

Paul angrily flicked his horsewhip. “This is the most ridiculous thing under the sun! Madn, cuff them all!”

The guards were about to rush forward with shackles.

“You have a diamond-shaped birthmark on the inside of your thigh. You should know that yourself, right?”

It was the red-haired witch’s voice again, but…

“Wait!” Paul shouted loudly.

The guards imdiately stopped.

Paul looked at the red-haired witch with a strange expression.

There was a long period of silence.

Everyone could see from the count’s expression that sothing was wrong.

What the witch said… could it be true?

They looked at Count Grayman, then at the wizard boy who had been arrogant just a mont ago and was now completely bewildered. The more they looked, the more their eyes and brows resembled each other.

Perhaps he was the old count’s illegitimate son?

The guard who was about to apply the shackles hesitantly stepped back a little.

Paul’s brows knitted together, and he asked Mariana with so annoyance, “What on earth is going on?”

Mariana smiled, though it was a bit forced.

“It’s complicated. It can’t be explained in just a sentence or two.”

“Hmph!” Paul pointed at the carriage. “Get in. Co back with us.”

“As you command, little Count Grayman!”

The witch answered with a hint of mischief, even curtsying with a lift of her skirt, before turning and walking towards the carriage.

Although she did not know what fate awaited her, a great weight that had been on her heart for years finally disappeared.

A certain repressed nature was released, and ti seed to turn back more than a decade, to when she had also lived in this land.

Nathan tugged at the corner of his mother’s clothes. “That… is it really true?”

“Shut up, you brat!” Mariana glared at him. “What were you getting so worked up about just now!”

“Right, right, this must be a story mother made up to get out of trouble,” Nathan thought in a panic, completely unable to accept it.

Mariana boarded the carriage. Inside were two others, the still-unconscious Ordennel and Denson, who was taking care of him.

“You seem very calm!” Mariana frowned.

“Oh, could it get any worse? Lady Redfla.”

The carriage, escorted by a group of attendants, headed towards Lakeheart Town.

“Ladi.”

Paul, riding his horse, called softly to his occult advisor.

“Paul, my mind is in chaos right now!”

Ladi answered sowhat absently.

eting her teacher whom she had not seen for many years was shocking enough for her.

But then the count had t his brother.

If it was true, it really confird her teacher’s words.

“What a wondrous fate this is.”
