Capítulo 1564: Chapter 75: Siege (45)_3

The negotiation site fell into a deathly silence, Vansco Alda’s cheeks turned so red they could drip blood, and the other United Provinces officers felt as if they’d heard a fantasy.

“War cris?” Alda raged, “Still won’t be pursued? What cris have I committed? Do I need your ‘temporary non-pursuit’?”

This question completely stumped the envoy, but he didn’t want to appear weak, so he raised his chin and answered stiffly, “You’ll naturally know when the ti cos!”

“Did Winters Montagne send you to tease us?” Thomas Hamr, ranked second at the scene, asked coldly, “If we hand over the ships, can we still leave?”

This question, too, stumped the envoy.

He considered the matter for a long ti, then stamred, “Actually, I think you can’t leave—after the state it’s reached, you’re like birds in a cage, how can you be set free? If you were allowed to leave, wouldn’t we have wasted all our efforts?”

“Kid,” Thomas Hamr found it incredibly amusing and couldn’t resist asking, “Aren’t you supposed to try to persuade us? Why do you keep speaking ironically?”

“What? I need to persuade you?” The envoy’s eyes were bewildered, “I thought I only need to relay the ssage?”

Thomas Hamr and Vansco Alda exchanged a glance.

“[Old Language] Why did that Vineta kid send such a fool?” Alda showed a face full of disgust.

Thomas Hamr’s gaze was stern, “[Old Language] Maybe he wants to stall for ti.”

“[Old Language] I can understand what you’re saying,” the envoy interjected awkwardly, “[Old Language] His Excellency said you would definitely speak ill of him in the Old Language, so… he sent .”

At this point, the faces of the United Provinces officers present were looking slightly awkward.

The envoy continued to babble, “Actually, it’s not just , everyone thinks that if you just leave like this, it’s absolutely absurd. But His Excellency has spoken, and regardless of dissent, they must obey.

“Once His Excellency speaks, it’s hard to retract the words, he says you can leave, then you certainly can leave. As for the ships, I think you don’t need to worry. Since His Excellency wants you to leave, he will surely arrange ships for you. If there aren’t warships, there are other ships…”

Major Hamr’s heartstrings were plucked, tentatively asking, “But don’t you rebels have several leaders? Can Winters Montagne’s words be efficacious?”

“Rest assured! Absolutely efficacious!” The envoy puffed his chest, proudly patting it, “Now in the New Army, from top to bottom, there isn’t a single person who doesn’t listen to the ‘Blood of the Wolf’!”

Hamr looked at the other officers, they were all astounded—if this foolish lad’s words were true, it ant Winters Montagne had built a terrifying reputation in the rebel ranks.

A young Vineta scion, how had he achieved this? The officers couldn’t figure it out.

“By the way,” the envoy suddenly slapped his forehead, as if suddenly awakened, hastily adding, “This ‘you’ is limited to the officers!”

He pointed at the United Provinces officers present, “Only you can leave, the others must remain.”

Having said that, the envoy kept slapping his forehead, muttering regretfully, “Nearly missed relaying this.”

The envoy didn’t notice that the expression before him on Vansco Alda’s face was becoming increasingly terrifying.

“You’re saying, your Vineta Excellency,” Alda emitted a spine-chilling chuckle from his throat, “wants us to sell out our subordinates, then live wretchedly? He calls this business?”

The envoy was a bit intimidated, although he’d seen blood, the pressure of entering enemy territory alone was different from battle, especially when facing soone with far greater experience and presence.

But he still strained to stand up straight, bracing for the storm, “Yes!”

“Then go back and tell him,” Alda slapped the envoy heavily on the shoulder, causing the latter’s knees to quiver, “I’ll also make a deal with him—I want nothing else, just a wolf. As long as the ‘Blood of the Wolf’ surrenders, I’ll guarantee his rank as Permanent Army Corps Commander!”

Alda’s words were clearly sarcastic, but they were wasted on this ignorant soul, who completely failed to catch on.

Majia Lauer, the young lad, heard Alda’s words, nodded emphatically, patted his butt, and simply walked away.

The United Provinces officers present exchanged glances, not knowing whether to stop the counterpart. No one expected this foolish lad to be so blunt, unable to understand the commander’s irony.

What was more unexpected was, after a while, this fool returned.

He was drenched in sweat, panting heavily, clearly having run both ways.

The young lad held his knees, took so ti to catch his breath, then spoke.

“His Excellency says,” the envoy cleared his throat, trying hard to mimic a certain tone, “‘Vansco Alda, even you haven’t beco a Permanent Army Corps Commander, what face do you have to promise ?’.”

Before Vansco Alda could erupt, the envoy added:

“His Excellency also says, he does have the ability to grant you the position of Permanent Army Corps Commander. But the war has reached this point, even if you’re willing to surrender, you can only weave baskets.”

Alda’s expression instantly beca unspeakably unpleasant, his cheeks first turned blue, then pale, and finally blood red.

“Scram!” Alda roared like thunder, “Then we’ll settle it on the battlefield! Fight to the death! Scram!”

The envoy remained unmoved, just nodded.

Seeing this foolish lad attempting to leave again, Thomas Hamr hastily spoke up, “Wait!”

The envoy stopped, gazing at the major in confusion.

“Go back and tell Winters Montagne,” Major Hamr spoke calmly, “his ‘business’ entirely insults us, we will never accept it. If he genuinely wants to negotiate, bring so sincerity.”

“His Excellency says he only gives you this one opportunity. Once missed, you won’t catch the horse again.” The envoy’s tone shifted, “However, His Excellency also says, if there’s no business to be done, relationships remain. If you don’t wish to do this business, he has another offer for you.”

“What?” Thomas Hamr asked calmly.

“His Excellency says,” now clearly less frightened than before, the envoy deliberately paused, “he can give you water.”
