Chapter 1427: Chapter 14: Pacifying the Furious Spirit (14)

Upon hearing Pierre’s voice, Winters sat up swiftly.

He originally wanted to invite Little Lion directly into the tent, but the swelling and pain in his eyes reminded him that “currently” was not a good ti to receive envoys.

So Winters cleared his throat and responded in a low tone, “Please, Lord Yasin, rest in the guest tent first, and I’ll visit shortly.”

“Yes!” Pierre answered through the felt curtain, and then his cold voice rang out again, “This way, Lord Yahachi.”

Outside the tent, soone grunted discontentedly, and the sound of boots stomping heavily into the muddy water was heard, fading away.

Winters breathed a sigh of relief.

Unexpectedly, as Winters considered whether to find a helt first before eting Little Lion, the previously retreating footsteps suddenly returned rapidly.

In the next mont, Little Lion burst through the door curtain and stord into the side tent, yelling angrily:

“What’s this, Hestas! Do you have a woman hidden in your tent or what? Why is it so troubleso just to see you?”

Before he finished speaking, Little Lion saw the bruises on Winters’ face.

Little Lion was stunned for a half-second, then pointed at Winters’ face and burst into uproarious laughter.

He laughed so hard that he bent forward and back, gasping for breath, almost rolling on the ground.

Pierre, who had been tricked by Little Lion, also chased into the side tent.

Pierre quickly saluted Blood Wolf, then grabbed hold of Little Lion’s sleeve and shoulder, forcibly dragging him outside.

The anger in his voice could not be suppressed: “Lord Yahachi! This — way — please!”

Winters waved to Pierre.

Following the new instruction, Pierre reluctantly released Little Lion, gritted his teeth, saluted Blood Wolf again, and turned to leave.

“Pierre, stay.” Winters called out to Pierre, then propped his chin on his hand, looking at the exuberantly laughing person, patiently waiting for him to finish, and then calmly said:

“Scars are a warrior’s dals, Little Lion. Don’t forget that.”

Little Lion, still wiping his drool, feigned surprise and asked, “So, Hestas, which brave warrior gave you such a big dal?”

“What is it?” Winters said jokingly, “Want to send a dal back for ?”

“Of course not. I just want to offer that warrior a drink.” Little Lion slyly smiled, “After all, I’m not my sister; I wouldn’t feel sorry for you.”

Winters was instantly rendered speechless.

The atmosphere in the side tent beca a bit awkward.

“Why are you still standing? Find a place to sit—oh, there’s no place to sit.” Winters suddenly realized and instructed Pierre: “Bring two stools.”

Pierre saluted and dashed out of the side tent.

Inside the tent, there were temporarily only Winters and Little Lion, with the latter looking as if waiting to be questioned.

“Are your brother and sister well?” Winters asked thick-skinned.

Little Lion feigned ignorance: “Brother or sister?”

“Brother and sister.” Winters spoke sparingly.

Little Lion deliberately beat around the bush, dragging the end of his sentence, “They are both well.”

“Good to hear they are well.” Winters smiled, then suddenly asked pointedly, “And how about you?”

“?” Little Lion was taken aback, now looking puzzled: “What’s wrong with ? I’m right in front of you, aren’t I? Don’t I look well?”

“The only brother of White Lion, the sole heir of the Red River Tribe, not staying at the old camp to tend the hearth but instead often visiting my place—which is the Paratu people’s territory—I have to ask, how are you doing?”

Little Lion held out for a while but ultimately lost his strength.

He walked to the cot, nudged Winters to make so space, and sat boldly beside him.

“Don’t worry. My coming here serves so people’s interests instead.” Little Lion stretched out his legs, picking dry grass from his trousers indifferently:

“In the Red River Tribe, so Nayens are hoping my brother quickly has a son and wish I would disappear fast. They are happy when I’m not at the old camp.”

“You hold a prominent position in the Red River Tribe, yet you’re a latecor. So people’s status declines because of your return. It’s normal for them to resist you.” Winters slightly frowned, “The key is your brother. What does he think?”

Little Lion was silent for a mont, a wry smile appearing on his face: “I wanted to say my brother would never think that way, but… now… alas, I don’t even know what he thinks.”

White Lion’s figure appeared in Winters’ mind; he silently conversed with the ntal image of White Lion, but couldn’t obtain any trustworthy results.

After all, even Little Lion was unsure of White Lion’s thoughts, so how could an outsider know?

Winters could only reassure Little Lion, “You don’t need to overthink; on the Great Wilderness, you can never have too many blood relatives.”

Little Lion murmured, “Yeah.”

Winters pondered briefly before asking, “And how about you? What are your thoughts?”

“?” On hearing this, Little Lion furrowed his brow, thought hard for a mont, then fell straight back, lying sideways on the cot, leaving Winters with very little space to sit.

Little Lion gazed through the skylight at the sky, chuckled dryly, and said, “If I say I don’t want anything, would you believe ?”

“I believe you.” Winters replied lightly.

“Thank you, but…” Little Lion sighed again and murmured, “Actually, there are things I want.

“When I was on the island, my greatest desire was to go ho, back to the grasslands, back to my brother’s side.

“Now, I’ve obtained what I wanted, but I find myself missing the world beyond the wilderness.

“Of course, I don’t want to return to the island as a slave. I want a ship, like the big ship my sister and I rode when returning to the grasslands.

“I want a ship like that, and then sail it to wherever I can go.

“Horse herds, cattle and sheep, tents, pastures, slaves… I don’t want any of those things, so those Nayens guarding against , hiding things from , and opposing , it amuses .

“But the things I want, they wouldn’t understand. So I can only talk about these with you.”

“Actually,” Winters turned around and patted Little Lion’s shoulder, “I’ve had thoughts like yours before. But maybe because ships aren’t new to , I want a horse, to ride it to places where no one has been.”

“Oh?” Little Lion beca interested and sat up quickly.

But he only sat up for a mont and then lay back down, muttering to himself, “Right, you’d probably say you no longer have such foolish, naive, stupid thoughts.”

“No.” Winters said calmly, “I still think it’d be amazing if I could explore the world’s borderlands, guided by fortune.”

The side tent went silent, the two of them sat quietly on the cot, each absorbed in their own thoughts.

The approaching footsteps broke the silence, and Pierre’s voice ca from outside the tent, “Sir, I’ve brought the stool.”

“Co in!”

Pierre lifted the curtain and walked in, carrying a stool with his left hand.

“Why did you only bring one?” Winters raised an eyebrow.

“I’ll stand and listen.” Pierre replied.

Winters commanded, leaving no room for argunt, “Go get another one.”

Pierre received the order, put down the stool, and left the side tent again.

Winters stood up briskly, reinvigorated, and lit the oil lamp inside the tent.

“Ti to discuss business.” Winters smiled at Little Lion, “Lord Yahachi.”

Little Lion also straightened up, getting serious, “That’s right, forget those dreams, it’s ti for real talk.”

“I’ve already seen the list of goods.” Winters said nonchalantly, “Your appetite is quite large.”

Little Lion shrugged with a smile, “Coming and going is so ti-consuming and troubleso, surely we need to bring more.”

“Unfortunately, I must honestly tell you, I don’t have that much stock to exchange with you.”

“We knew that without you telling us.” Little Lion continued to smile.

“Then, may I ask…” Winters’ gaze beca increasingly sharp, “What does White Lion intend for us to pay with?”
