Chapter 1232: Chapter 38 Great Alliance Moves Forward (23)_2
“Why can’t you understand? Mont Blanc County, Thunder Group County, and Riverside County will beco Centurion’s enemies sooner or later!” Bart Xialing said word by word, “Sooner or later!”
Tamas kept his head down, saying nothing.
Bart Xialing’s voice lowered as well, “The Centurion is a hero, and you are good people. Making decisions against your conscience will tornt you, so let do it. You can bla it all on …”
Bart Xialing’s words were cut off as Tamas placed a hand on his old comrade’s shoulder, preventing him from continuing.
Looking up, Tamas’s gaze was as firm as ever. He calmly said, “Even if they beco enemies, that’s in the future. Today, we are comrades with them, and the Centurion’s order to is ‘Go to the aid of allies, fight when encountering the enemy.’ So I will carry it out.”
After speaking, Tamas patted Bart Xialing’s shoulder and turned to walk towards the valley’s exit.
Bart Xialing clenched his fist, stomped his foot hard, and followed.
…
Monkey and Pako were at the back of the marching column. As they exited the valley, the comrades who ca out ahead were already lined up, ready to charge.
Although the order was to travel as light as possible, everyone still brought so food, drinks, and miscellaneous items.
When it was truly ti to go into battle, these items could no longer be carried. At this mont, the equipnt discarded by Iron Peak County Soldiers ford a small pile at the valley exit, guarded by a designated person.
Monkey dragged Pako stumbling towards the luggage pile, wanting to throw away his backpack but found it tied in a dead knot, unable to untie it, cursing in frustration, “Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!”
Monkey and Pako were originally near the front of the marching column, but when descending the mountain, the newcor Pako slipped and fell into the Hunter’s trail ditch.
By the ti Monkey exerted much effort to get Pako out, the team had already moved far ahead, and Monkey got separated from Lu Xirong’s unit and his group.
Thus, Monkey and Pako could only blend into the team and continue forward.
Monkey tried to untie the knot, finding it tied too tightly. He tried to bite it but couldn’t reach. In frustration, he extended his hand to Pako, “Knife! Knife! Give a knife!”
Pako quickly pulled out a small knife and handed it over.
Monkey directly cut the rope, tossed the backpack towards the luggage pile, grabbed his sword sheath, clutched his helt, and ran towards the assault position on his aching legs.
Pako carried his short spear, hurriedly following behind.
The comrades were already lined up in two horizontal rows at the valley exit, about thirty steps between the rows, each row with three lines.
Monkey ran between the two horizontal rows, seeing familiar faces in each, yet there were also unfamiliar ones, making it unclear to him which was the first battalion and which was the second battalion.
A commissioned officer with a plu on his helt, holding his sword, briskly approached them, harshly scolding, “Which company are you from?”
“They are my n, officer.” A familiar voice rang out, “They got separated earlier, I’ll get them back in line.”
Upon hearing this voice, Monkey imdiately felt imnsely relieved, while the newcor Pako almost burst into tears.
Old soldier Lu Xirong squeezed through the human wall, walking quickly towards Monkey and Pako.
Monkey was just about to speak when he saw the old soldier glaring fiercely at him, so he swallowed his words back.
Lu Xirong dragged Monkey and Pako to the back of the formations, then led them southward.
At the southernmost end of the second horizontal row, Monkey saw his tent comrades and others from his company. Though on the battlefield, he inexplicably felt a sense of coming ho.
Lu Xirong turned around, looking at Monkey. With the big battle approaching, the old soldier spoke less, just sighing, “You still followed, you silly boy.”
Monkey wiped his eyes, completely unaware of the lancholy in the old soldier’s tone, still imrsed in excitent, he laughed loudly, “Of course! To shake off, it’s not that easy!”
“Fall in.” Lu Xirong waved dismissively.
“Yes, sir!” Monkey grinned and saluted, pulling the new recruit Pako into the human wall.
Tent comrades made room for them, the horizontal row of the first company rippled slightly but quickly returned to knife-edge straightness.
Once he stopped, the feeling of fatigue imdiately surged into his body.
Originally, Monkey pursued the team all the way, sweating profusely, yet still having the energy to keep going. Now, having rejoined the formation, he instead felt his arms and legs were as heavy as lead. His eyelids were drooping, and he just wanted to lie down and have a good sleep.
Not to ntion, Monkey felt a little uncomfortable with nothing but clothes, shoes, a helt, and a sword.
Carrying the super long spear was extrely inconvenient for crossing mountains and forests, so each company’s long spears were collected in advance and taken by the supply team.
Not only the formation-essential super long spears, but because the pack horses couldn’t traverse the Hunter’s trail, spearn also had to leave their armor with the supply team.
However, with a last-minute change in marching route, no one knew where the supply team had gone.
Most of Monkey’s comrades now only had a helt and a short weapon. A few with short spears and long halberds were positioned at both ends of the formations.
Monkey nervously tugged at his collar. To mask his anxiety, he pretended to nonchalantly look at the comrades on both sides, yet he found the eye of his tent comrades filled similarly with unease, anxiety, and fatigue.
But for so reason, seeing the faces of comrades he had been with day and night, Monkey was no longer as scared as before.
