Capítulo 1702: Chapter 1701: Ice and Snow Visitors
gan suddenly stood up:
“How is it possible? There’s actually on the island…”
Shard gestured for her to not be so tense:
“Oh, please relax a bit. I’m just saying there’s a high probability, and it should be on ‘another island’, otherwise, my eyes would have noticed it long ago. Furthermore, I need to correct you on a common mistake: Evil Spirit Demons have existed since the most ancient eras, but they only beca a catastrophe in the Third Era. Of course, what we’re facing should not be that ancient.”
“Of course, I know that. But this is troubleso now; do you understand what a demon ans? Even if I were to recover to Eleven Rings, I might not be able to handle this matter.”
“Please listen to .”
Shard comforted, while not forgetting to feed the sliced apple to the well-behaved cat squatting on his lap:
“I do know what those ancient evil spirits signify. In fact, I’ve been encountering them frequently in the past half year. Look at this.”
He tossed the ring he brought up from the basent to gan, who caught it and found the ring to be of a black iron hue, with a face made of an even darker, ancient black iron material. The ring face was rectangular, slightly convex on the edges with a concave center, but the pattern inside the rectangle was raised.
The Female Sorcerer frowned at the pattern, soon recalling its aning from mory:
“Keeper of Secrets Level Relic – [Demon Hunting Seal]?”
Shard had two such seals in total, the first from an investigation into Detective Sparrow’s old case—seeking a doctor to treat an eye condition, and the second from two months ago when exploring the lake bottom in Randall Valley for the “Stone Mirror Demon: Goethe”. The latter one was now with Iluna, leaving Shard’s one as the original piece.
“Yes, this seal has been with
for almost a year, and during that ti, I’ve encountered various demons. To be honest, I’ve actually been searching for demons with a purpose. I’m not one of those ancient Demon Hunters, but I have a specialized demon hunting expert by my side.”
Shard was quite assured about this:
“You don’t have to worry about the demons. I’ll handle it, I just need to find clues and confirm which demon allegedly cooperated with your ancestors on the island, then my friend will co and resolve the trouble.”
“You are becoming more and more mysterious.”
She said, handing the ring back to Shard:
“You found this key, do I owe you any compensation?”
She brought up the key again, and Shard thought for a mont; he was planning to go to Midshire Fort shortly to handle the blood test, so he needed to eat quickly:
“How about treating
to dinner? Look at this cat, if I don’t eat soon, it will bite .”
“ow~”
“Also, I need to pack a portion for a friend who’s doing Astrology at my place. Next Wednesday is a Lunar Eclipse night, and she needs to record the latest Star Map. My place has a pretty large room, which is quite convenient for setting up astrology equipnt.”
gan nodded, showing a teasing expression again:
“Is it the Female Diviner from the Prophet’s Society, who provided you with information?”
“Yes.”
The Witch didn’t say anything further but thought about eting other girls beside this man after the incident in the Green Lake Region was over. She was quite confident in her own thods.
Once again, dinner was on the cruise ship, but this ti the rain paused and the night sky was clear, allowing them to enjoy the view of the Duin River’s east and west banks while dining.
After dinner, gan didn’t forget to pack a al for Shard using a lunch box. Despite him saying it was just for one person, the amount she gave him was enough for Shard’s whole day’s consumption.
Aside from this, before they parted, the Witch’s Follower brought new information, related to the [Mood Ring]. gan reminded Shard to co by again this Saturday morning as the ring had been confird it could be acquired.
Nothing interesting occurred that night; upon getting ho, Shard reminded Luviya to have dinner, then headed to Midshire Fort for a blood test.
The result matched Shard’s expectations. Though the apparent bloodline proportion of the four varied, their blood components were essentially the sa as gan and Audrey’s bodies, and all of them possessed a part of an “unknown” bloodline component.
In other words, the third generation’s suspected adoptee, Alphonse Edwards, was also a pure-blooded Edwards. The traces of Human Alchemy had long been engraved in the family bloodline.
Shard was not in a rush to go to Green Lake to inform gan about this on Thursday. When he awakened early Thursday morning, his mind was actually on using that Ti Key to complete the last segnt of the “Seven-day Trip”. Compared to the short resting opportunity that ca with the Ti Key, getting the “Enhanced Spatial Awareness” beforehand might be more useful.
While waking up the purple-eyed girl who was reluctant to get out of bed for breakfast, the Ti Key, covered in fine cracks, was on the dining table. Shard planned to set off after eating. But before he could leave, an unexpected visitor arrived.
It was seven thirty in the morning when the bell downstairs rang, and Shard was quite surprised about who would visit at this ti. Considering the ladies who might co at this hour, each had keys to this place.
He ca downstairs and opened the door to find a man and a woman, both strangers, standing outside. The man had an aged face, appearing in his fifties, while the woman was sowhat younger, though at least around thirty-five.
The two were dressed like Northerners from Draleon, looking travel-worn, and it was unclear what their specific identities were. However, both were Circle Sorcerers, and both around Six Rings.
Shard hesitantly scrutinized the visitors:
“Hello? Who are you looking for?”
“Are you Mr. Shard Suren Hamilton?”
The elderly gentleman inquired, and Shard nodded:
“Yes, welco to the Hamilton Detective Agency. Hmm… Are you clients?”
He knew himself that this was unlikely.
“No, we are not clients.”
The woman explained, lowering her voice:
“It was Lady Asha Esberg who sent us. She said you had sothing for us.”
Shard then understood,
“Asha Esberg” is the na of the Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer “Winter Singer” of the [Winter Choir]. Last Friday morning after the group ended, she inquired what Shard wanted with them. At that ti, Shard did not ntion the matter of [Genesis: Space], and Lady Esberg was eager to take away the black tal coffin, so she said she would arrange for soone to co to Shard later.
After nearly a week’s interval, they finally ca.
“Welco, please co in. I didn’t expect you to co in the morning, please go upstairs, we can sit down and talk.”
Luviya, already having heard the conversation in the downstairs foyer when the three went upstairs, went ahead to the kitchen to prepare hot tea. The two strangers visiting didn’t understand Shard’s living situation, so having others in his house early in the morning didn’t surprise them.
Once seated, the two began with self-introductions. The elder leading was nad Will Hamr, and the woman was Sonia Feller. Both were priests of the Order, which ans in the era when the Old God had already departed, they still were faithful believers of the [Winter Maiden].
“Actually, the matter I approached you through Miss Danester isn’t that significant.”
Shard, holding a teacup and stroking the cat on his lap, while Luviya sat beside him:
“Recently, I had a peculiar dream. The lady beside
is a Diviner from my group. After interpreting my dream, she believed it was a Prophetic Dream, which indicated that in the Far North, there is an item related to the Card that should belong to , and it’s within the winter’s snowflakes.”
Even though this explanation sounds far-fetched, Shard couldn’t simply say it was a gift possibly left for him by the Witch of the Fifth Era:
“I’m uncertain if my understanding is correct — the item might be in the possession of the followers of the Winter Deity. After all, it’s just an obscure Prophetic Dream, and whether the interpretation is accurate is also unknown, so I wanted to ask you if there is an item linked to a Card in the Order that’s waiting for soone to claim it?”
Shard tentatively asked, and Mr. Hamr and Miss Feller exchanged glances:
“Could you provide us with a water basin? We need to communicate with the Order.”
They had certainly planned to contact the Order anyti before eting Shard, so it was quite successful to freeze the water in the basin and communicate using alchemical items.
The conclusion erged swiftly, so smoothly that Shard could hardly believe it:
“Yes, indeed the Order holds an item that ets the criteria. The item originates from the Fifth Era and is considerably valuable.”
Shard, suppressing the joy within his heart:
“Though it might be sowhat presumptuous to ask this, how can I acquire that item? I could offer a large sum of money, or perhaps do sothing for you?”
He had already started calculating his assets, but to purchase a Roder Card from the [Genesis] series, what he had wouldn’t be nearly adequate.
“Lady Esberg ntioned she wishes to communicate with you personally.”
Elder Hamr stated:
“The lady intends to co through an ice and snow incarnation; can a large ice block be created in your ho?”
“An ice and snow incarnation? Let
handle it.”
This Arcane Technique appeared in [Witch Echo: Clay], so Shard was quite familiar with it. With a snap of his fingers, a large snowball descended from the sky, landing beside the sofa.
Luviya knew Shard had this skill, so she was not surprised at all, and Mia, knowing it was snow, not candy, showed no interest. However, the two believers of the Winter Deity were quite amazed, as this certainly looked like their Divine Arts.
After simple preparations, the Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer whom he t last Friday morning with the group of five erged from the giant snowball. Her body appeared entirely real, not made of white snow.
