Chapter 1550: Chapter 1550: Velindale’s Swine

The dressing table and mirror won’t be taken away by Miss Galina just yet; soone will send them directly to Galina Manor later. Since the matter of the relic is settled, the witch and Shard continued to chat idly about recent events, and about the registration details for the equestrian competition around the city tomorrow.

Suddenly, the door was knocked, and the maid’s voice ca from outside:

"Miss, Mr. Nesser, the theater manager, has brought two actresses."

The witch looked at Shard with a smile:

"Here they co, and they’re still in costu. Shard, do you want us to leave the room so you can be alone with them? For an hour or two? Although I have great authority here, and could indeed threaten the theater and troupe to let you take them ho, your reputation might end up ruined."

"Please stop joking, I don’t recall requesting such a thing."

Shard shook his head:

"Besides, with you by my side, why would I be interested in any actresses?"

These words were sincere; no matter how beautiful the theater actresses might be, they couldn’t compare to the Grand Witch’s appearance.

Sure enough, a smile appeared on Miss Galina’s face:

"Then let’s keep it simple, et them, take a photo, and say a few words. Then we’ll go ho."

Those golden eyes looked at Shard:

"I’ve been looking forward to tonight for a long ti."

The door opened, and two won in costu walked in, visibly nervous, guessing what inappropriate thing Shard Hamilton might want. The actresses knew Miss Galina was present, so they bowed imdiately upon entry.

After being told there was no need to be so formal, they uneasily exchanged greetings with Shard. The distinctly mischievous witch then said:

"All the servants, leave the room; Tifa, you too, and close the door from the outside. Shard and I will have a few words with these two ladies. Also, no matter what you hear inside, don’t open the door. If we don’t co out for a long ti, don’t disturb us either. Rejed’s Hamilton wants... to have a deep conversation with them."

She said with a laugh, and Shard indeed saw the expressions of shock on the faces of the actresses and Mr. Nesser, the theater manager, outside the door.

His mouth twitched a bit as he started to prevent this:

"No need for such trouble, we’ll just take a minute."

He then looked at the red-headed Duchess:

"Galina, don’t joke around with ."

"Oh, I thought you might enjoy it," she said, holding Shard’s hand. Shard truly worried about what the gossip columns might say about him over the following days.

Shard just wanted to go ho, so he said a few words to Miss lly Jones, playing the part of a knight, and Miss Alita Laurence, playing the part of the Duke’s lover, before asking for a commorative photo.

Shard had never t these two won before, and they had only heard rumors of the "Duchess Galina’s lover"; today was also their first ti eting Shard. They were sowhat reserved initially, even if Shard said the door wouldn’t be closed, still concerned about being forced into sothing. But after seeing Shard’s face, their worries and unease gradually faded, and when Shard asked to take a photo, they showed quite so joy.

It was relatively easy to borrow a cara at the opera house. Shard invited Miss Galina to join the photo, but the Duchess declined. So, he stood between the two actresses and took a picture. Since he knew how to develop photos himself and didn’t want his pictures to get out, he took the negatives directly and had the two opera actresses sign their nas in his notebook.

It seed like a regular fan eting; no one suspected the real goal involved the dressing mirror in the corner.

While Shard held the notebook, discussing the opera he hadn’t listened to with the two won, complinting their singing and acting, a theater attendant ca hurrying down the hallway and whispered a few words to Mr. Nesser, the theater manager, at the door.

Though the voice was soft, it was audible to Circle Sorcerers.

Shard raised an eyebrow and looked at Miss Galina standing by his side; the witch didn’t mind interacting with beautiful won. She naturally heard the voice outside, thought for a mont, and nodded to Shard, so Shard asked Mr. Nesser:

"Do you have urgent business to attend to?"

The chubby middle-aged man was sweating more profusely. He hesitated but rembering there was a duchess in the room, he could only wipe away the sweat and say:

"There’s soone else who wishes to et Miss Jones and Miss Laurence, Earl Lewis from Carsenrick. I’ll refuse him right now; please don’t worry."

Earl Lewis was the noble sent by the United Kingdom of Carsonrick to negotiate with Draleon about the date and place for talks.

"It seems the Earl from the Southern Nation also appreciates opera from the Northern Country. Let him co directly; this room isn’t that small."

Shard said with a smile, seeing that Miss Galina intended to see this earl in advance. After all, she might be tasked with dealing with this issue.

The servant hurriedly left, and five or six minutes later, the sound of footsteps filled the corridor again. Shortly after, a nobleman in his forties, who was heavier than the theater manager Mr. Nesser but taller than Shard, entered the dressing room followed by a crowd of people.

His eyes were green, his hooked nose, and deep-set eyes gave him an extrely cold appearance. He was the kind of person who looked inherently unapproachable, and combined with his noble status, it was indeed very suitable for Earl Lewis to be sent to prepare for the preliminary negotiations.

Among the crowd trailing behind him, Shard saw the Five-Ring Sorcerer he had just t on the rooftop, who looked identical. Combining this with what Miss Galina had just said, it was clear they were the twin sons of Marquis Furen, Eric Forun and Charles Follen.

However, they appeared to be only twenty-five or six years old, while Miss Galina said they were already thirty-one.

Shard didn’t expect to see them again so soon, but fortunately, they did not recognize Shard.

"Good evening, Duchess Galina."

The tall, fat Southern country’s Earl who entered the room didn’t even glance at Shard, walking straight towards Miss Galina. However, he was stopped by Shard:

"Good evening, Earl Lewis."

He said with a smile:

"I’m sorry, but you should have heard that Miss Galina doesn’t like to be approached by unfamiliar n."

He extended his hand to the southern noble, who looked down at Shard’s hand without moving his gloved hand at all:

"Who are you?"

"Shard Hamilton."

Shard replied, and the man frowned:

"You are that..."

His eyes turned to the two actresses standing beside him, still ignoring Shard’s gesture for a handshake.

So Shard withdrew his hand:

"It’s a pleasure to et you at the theater. Do you also want to have a chat with these two ladies? Their singing and acting are truly outstanding."

Earl Lewis glanced at him, then turned to Miss Galina:

"Since Duchess Galina is here, I won’t disturb any further. Duke, let’s et at Yordle Palace this Saturday."

After saying this, he didn’t acknowledge Shard and turned to leave with his entourage of servants. It was Mr. Furen on the right, wearing a monocle, who gave Shard an apologetic look and then hurried after them.

"Let’s go too."

Shard said to Miss Galina, and the witch nodded. After Shard bid farewell to the actresses, he left the dressing room with Shard, preparing to head ho:

"Earl Jembert Lewis, even within Carsonrick, had a rather poor reputation. To put it simply, this man was quite lecherous."

It wasn’t until the carriage carried them into the dense evening darkness that the witch began to explain the situation just now:

"He is a distant relative of the Anjou Royal Family; his family controls the salt business in Carsonrick. Ever since he was young, his reputation in Velindale City has been terrible, and to this day, people still refer to him behind his back as ’Lustful Pig Jembert.’ Yes, he was this fat when he was young. If you hadn’t encountered us today, those two beautiful girls earlier would likely have been in trouble, even if he didn’t take them away."

After she finished speaking, she noticed that Shard wasn’t responding with his eyebrows furrowed, so she curiously asked:

"What, are you unhappy because soone offended you? This is normal; after all, the identity of a knight is not much to true nobles. Although most of the noble people you et on a daily basis are modest and polite, there are still disgusting nobles. However, if you could convince Lecia, Dorothy Louisa, and Luviya Annette, so we could have a wedding..."

Sitting beside her, Tifa held her mouth to keep herself from laughing, and Shard said:

"I noticed that the way that guy looked at you was quite off."

The witch was taken aback, her smile growing wider:

"You’re talking about that, huh. I’ve gotten used to it. Since I beca an adult, I’ve been Tobesk’s most beautiful unmarried noblewoman, even ladies like Lecia put together can’t compare to , so it’s natural to attract so flies’ attention. That’s why I don’t like making public appearances very much. It’s also not my first ti eting Jas Lewis, I know what kind of person he is... What are you thinking about?"

She laughed, grabbing Shard’s hand:

"Oh, my knight, this is the first ti I’ve realized you’re such a petty person. Are you angry?"

"Of course, I extended my hand, and he refused to shake it, plus he has ideas about you. Not to ntion his generally poor reputation, having surely done many bad things. Isn’t it normal for

to be angry? Maybe you haven’t noticed, but I don’t have many lingering enemies because they’re all dead."
