Chapter 1548: Chapter 1548: Mirror and Monster

The maids who followed Miss Galina did not enter the room, only Tifa and Shard followed the witch to the deepest part of the room.

Upon entering, Shard initially felt nothing, but as he approached the damaged vanity table, he detected the whisper elent:

"The relic is that mirror; the table is just an ordinary item... The relic itself is not strong."

Shard said softly, and the witch nodded:

"Very perceptive. Stand here, don’t get too close; we’re not yet certain what this is. The clues I have suggest that a person looking into the mirror might, with an extrely low probability, see blurry human figures beside their reflection. Of course, this is what ordinary people might encounter; a circle sorcerer might experience sothing different when facing this relic."

"Although the whisper elent is evident, the elent itself hardly fluctuates, which indicates that the relic’s condition is quite good. I’ll give it a try."

Shard stated, and neither Miss Galina nor Tifa objected. Among them, Shard had the lowest level, and even if sothing happened, they could assist him.

"Take this."

The witch took off the golden necklace that represented her identity and handed it to Shard. He nodded, clutching the necklace as he continued forward, sitting down before the broken mirror.

The extent of damage to the mirror was considerable; from the marks, it appeared as though soone had struck the mirror’s center directly with an iron ball or sothing similar. Although all areas of the mirror still remained, the center caved inward, and then circular cracks radiated densely outwards.

This divided the mirror into many sections, with each piece reflecting Shard’s image. He carefully observed, waiting for sothing to occur, but even after five minutes, no anomalies appeared.

"I’m not being controlled by the mirror; I’ll try a different thod."

He said to the two ladies behind him and, after receiving a response, reached out to touch the mirror.

[You have touched the "Whisper."]

"She" said softly, then paused:

[This mirror possesses a power that connects to another space.]

Shard’s perception grew stronger as his proximity increased, and upon direct contact, he discovered unexpected information. This mirror, identical to others in the vanity room, did not possess a tangible form, suggesting it was likely a relic involving so kind of "event," or a relic capable of rging into the mirror itself.

He shared his findings with the two ladies behind him, and despite the scant clues, the knowledgeable and experienced witch had an idea:

"Shard, face the mirror and say ’Courage accompanies ’ in Efrah language."

Although the request seed odd, Shard obliged. He didn’t understand the language ntioned by the witch, nor had he ever heard its na before, but this didn’t prevent him from reciting the phrase completely.

Indeed, as Shard’s words ended, the previously shattered mirror seed to reverse ti, becoming smooth again, with its cracks perfectly aligning back together. Simultaneously, at the center above the mirror, a golden stick figure ribbon appeared, followed by invisible hands writing beneath it:

[The hero is fearless.]

The image of Shard that existed within the mirror vanished completely, and after a white fog covered the mirror, upon its dispersion, the mirror displayed a scene of a dimly lit, unfamiliar room.

The room lacked any light source, yet all the objects within could still be seen.

On the wall facing the mirror hung an oil painting of a lakeside landscape with a brass-colored tal fra, and beneath it, a cabinet with three drawers and golden drawer handles held a precious jewelry box, a music box, and a tobacco case.

This seed like a noble’s collection room, but Shard frowned because the black smudge atop the landscape oil painting in the mirror’s center beca increasingly clear and large. That black smudge soon left the painting in the mirror, entered the room portrayed in the mirror, and then exited the mirrored room, seemingly intending to erge into the world outside the mirror.

[Desecration elent, whisper elent, so kind of artifact-tainted evil object.]

He listened to the whispering reminder in his ear as he stood up and retreated. Miss Galina also approached with Tifa, knowing the witch had identified what relic this was. She spoke quickly:

"It is indeed this relic; it seems luck is on our side. Shard, that thing is about to co out. Deal with it first, and then I’ll inform you about the relic. This battle is yours; I want to see what a Six Rings like you can do under normal combat conditions."

"No problem."

Shard knew Miss Galina believed she could control whatever situation would arise, so he felt at ease holding the witch’s golden necklace as he began spellcasting:

"Great Sin Chain!"

The black chain shot out from the sleeve, almost penetrating the black mass in the mirror the next second. But within the wriggling blackness, a large hand with six shriveled, gray fingers erged, surprisingly grabbing the end of the Great Sin Chain.

Shard thought the [Great Sin Chain] would take effect in sealing supernatural power, but unexpectedly the black mass disappeared into the mirror, and the chain clattered down onto the dressing table below the mirror.

[You hit its mirror image, not the entity itself.]

Even without "her" reminder, Shard could sense an anomaly in the surrounding space. The thing that had erged from the mirror hadn’t vanished but had instead used its spatial ability to hide within the gap between normal spaces.

The sudden inspiration of danger prompted Shard to sidestep to the right, then with a slender yellow moonlight great sword suddenly appearing in his hand, he thrust it behind him.

Although there seed to be nothing in the air, the slender yellow moonlight great sword indeed hit the target:

"Spatial Stabilization Aura!"

The effect of the arcane technique forcibly brought the enemy hidden in the space gap out, and Shard’s weapon struck its abdon. Unfortunately, for a creature that’s not even necessarily a biological entity, this wasn’t a fatal wound.

Only now did Shard see the true form of the enemy behind him from the mirror he was facing. Its height was similar to a five- to six-year-old child, entirely gray, with a hunched back growing another half torso almost identical to its own, making it look like two identical monsters fused into one at the lower body.

The two upper bodies totaled four grayish arms, and three of those arms had already grasped the sword blade of the [Moonlight Greatsword].

Even though Shard hadn’t canceled the spellcasting of the [Spatial Stabilization Aura], the front half of the [Moonlight Greatsword] blade appeared three ters away in the next second. The spiritual weapon vanished due to its fragntation, and Shard slightly frowned, turning to strike with moonlight using his left hand, but the monster disappeared again.

He stood still for two seconds:

"It’s gone."

The witch standing by, having not taken much action, asked with a smile:

"I know you’re skilled in spatial power, and have an arcane technique specifically for prohibiting anomalous spatial states. But compared to creatures with innate ’space’ abilities, as soone of the Six Rings, you’re not much. Luckily, according to the relic properties, it can’t stray far from this mirror for a short while. Knowing your character, you definitely won’t let it escape. So Shard, do you need my help?"

The golden eyes looked at Shard with a smiling gaze.

"No need, if I can’t handle even this, I shouldn’t be thinking about advancing to sixth grade in sumr."

Shard said, hanging the necklace around his neck, then closing his eyes to perceive the anomaly in space.

Earlier letting that thing escape was partly due to its genuinely bizarre spatial ability, and partly because he didn’t want too much commotion in the opera house. But now that the opponent wants to flee, he doesn’t need to worry so much.

"Wait here for , I’ll be back in five minutes at most."

Shard opened his eyes and said, Tifa standing beside the Duchess expressionless, the loyal maid wouldn’t have any exchange with her lover at this mont. The witch nodded:

"Alright, you handle the monster, I’ll deal with this mirror. Rember not to cause too much commotion, I’ll give you ten minutes. If you can’t solve such trouble, co to my place every Sunday morning to attend class with Iluna. Shard, show

your power."

Her imnse trust in Shard only made him feel he absolutely couldn’t fail.

Red butterflies flew out from his body one after another, until his entire form dissipated into a swarm of red butterflies, flying out through the window.

The anomalous space traces were quite distinct to Shard, who understood spatial power. But if not caught up in ti, the stable space-ti of the material world would soon stabilize this fluctuation.

The swarm of red butterflies concealed themselves in the moonlit night using illusion techniques, the moonlight shining on the glimring butterflies as they flocked together, flying high until they reached the roof of the opera house.

It’s worth noting that although the roof of Maria’s Opera House is expansive, it is not open to the public, and generally, there are no people on the roof.

That escaped monster was now on the rooftop, revealing its form, with the lower half of its body lying on the ground and the upper half facing the starry sky above. Despite the city still being foggy, starlight shone on it like spotlights on a stage, making the sword wound on the body lying on the ground heal rapidly.

The illusion of the red butterflies and the Illusion of the Moon Shadow simultaneously enhanced Shard, which prevented the monster that escaped from the space fissure from detecting him imdiately. As Shard gathered his form on the rooftop edge preparing for a lethal strike, he frowned again and looked to the other side of the rooftop.

The view from the opera house rooftop through the thin fog was unobstructed, and what was previously empty air twisted slightly in the next mont. Then, with faint crackling sounds, two n appearing to be around 27 or 28 years old holding hands suddenly appeared here out of thin air.
