Capítulo 1491: Chapter 1491: The Divinity of Earth

In that instant, it seed as if golden flas ignited on Shard, forcing Iluna to continually step back. She was astonished to see the mud under Shard’s feet rapidly evaporate as if roasted by fire, and even the black stone pillar began to slowly transform into an earthy hue under the indescribable power Shard emitted.

The previously tranquil magma lake began to ripple, with columns of fiery magma spraying upward, causing Iluna to worry whether the Heart of the Earth might be subrged by magma.

But this change only lasted for a few dozen seconds. As the power fluctuations on Shard subsided, filth once again filled the Heart of the Earth. Shard turned around with his eyes closed, and as he exhaled and opened his eyes tremblingly, the seventeen-year-old girl saw the golden glimr in his eyes slowly fading, and she found herself feeling a bit fearful of those eyes.

[Outlander, you’ve absorbed the divine power of the Earth.]

[As the Mother Goddess departs, the unmanaged earth gradually twists and disintegrates. Yet the earth still nurtures all things in the mortal world; those that co from the earth and ultimately return to it will eventually realize the power of the soil. It does not co from faith, fear, or reverence; this power itself is here.]

[You have listened to the story of the Earth; you have learned of the Earth’s miracle.]

[Outlander, you have gained sorcery – Active Soil. Imbue soil and rock creations with vitality, filling the voids in biological entities, making them part of a biological entity.]

[Outlander, you are completely immune to any influence from the Crazy Earth. You have received the Earth’s blessing: when standing on earth, your stamina and spirit recovery speed enhances.]

[Outlander, you have entered a temporary “Divinity Overflow” state. Caution, excessive use of this state’s power can lead to short-term unconsciousness.]

“I’m fine.”

Shard declared imdiately upon opening his eyes, but Iluna looked at him with great concern:

“You are shaking all over, that doesn’t look like you’re fine.”

She reached out to support Shard and found him shaking even more, even his tongue seed hard to control when he spoke:

“I’m really fine, just enduring… I’m about to advance.”

Iluna felt Shard’s body temperature was indeed very high.

In fact, typically a Circle Sorcerer’s advancent requires a complete ritual assistance, yet Shard’s advancent is almost always catalyzed by other forces.

Advancing from the First Ring to the Second Ring was due to the divinity of the Toy God, the Creator of Innocence; Second Ring to Third Ring due to Miss Feliana’s power; Third Ring to Fourth Ring due to the blessings from friends within death and the power of the Red Butterfly; Fourth Ring to Fifth Ring obtained from the Lake Goddess’s drop of divinity.

And now, as Shard possesses all four spirit runes of the Fifth Ring, he once again acquired new divinity, the exhilaration of the soul, and impulse to break through could make him advance to the Sixth Ring almost imdiately.

But Shard endured it forcibly, an act completely contrary to the natural instincts of life and soul, causing his body temperature to abnormally increase and his entire body to tremble.

Utilizing divinity to infect spirit runes accomplishes advancent. Due to the soul being stained by divinity, a brief “Divinity Overflow” period occurs. Utilizing a bit of power during this overflow doesn’t cause unconsciousness, unlike right after staining with divinity.

Thus, Shard resisted advancing for the upcoming battle.

“Iluna, what did you gain?”

He shivered and asked Iluna, who shook her head with distress:

“I felt the Earth again, but that new power’s birth through breakthrough didn’t directly catalyze new spirit runes or arcane technique.”

“Don’t worry, the deeper the accumulation, the more formidable your eventual gain. Let’s leave now.”

With a final glance around, deeply inhaling as his shivering subsided, Shard tightly held Iluna’s hand.

The state of “Divinity Overflow” from acquiring new divinity lasts only a little over ten minutes, during which excessive use of power can lead to unconsciousness.

Shard has more enemies to face tonight, so he cannot allow even slight unconsciousness. Therefore, he must refrain from overly utilizing the divinity overflow’s power. Fortunately, he isn’t the sa Shard who would sleep all day after kicking once at Lakeside Manor; using a little power is manageable.

“Hold on to

tightly.”

Shard instructed, Iluna reached with her other hand as well, and dissatisfied, boldly embraced Shard’s left arm.

Shard briefly put away the Heart of the Earth fragnt and held the Night Watchman, as the golden trace on his body extended to the sword, the longsword seed about to crack, emitting golden radiance.

Taking a step forward with Iluna, Shard swung the longsword down forcefully:

“Lagre’s Leap!”

This was not purely Shard’s space leap arcane technique; it also contained Miss Sylvia’s portal-opening technique. Shard couldn’t do this at the Fifth Ring, but under the state of divinity overflow, he could accomplish what a witch could.

As the sword swung down, the heated air showed a vague mirage.

Shard rushed in with Iluna, they felt like passing through a silk curtain; subsequently, surrounding heat vanished, the chilling bite of the early spring night with snow enveloped them.

“We’ve truly co out!”

Iluna looked around at the snowy forest landscape, then toward the low hills that undulated in the east:

“Shard, are you okay? Also, where are we now?”

“I don’t know either.”

Shard shook his head; he couldn’t perform long-distance space teleportation at all. The transmission effect just now was mimicked using powerful force, so he couldn’t control the destination:

“I can only ascertain that we should still be in the northeastern region outside Randall Valley Town.”

“I think I sensed sothing…”

Iluna said, so Shard closed his mouth. The seventeen-year-old girl quickly drew a conclusion:

“Right now, I can vaguely sense the location of those beings possessing earth power. Actually, until I’ve completely absorbed the Heart of the Earth’s power, I should always be able to feel it, but the distance can’t be too far away. In the Randall Valley Region, there are only two areas where beings have deeper earth power than I do; the one in the town is obviously the church, and the one outside is the Mad Guardian.”

“Can the Guardian sense you in this way too?”

Shard was concerned about that, and Iluna nodded:

“He probably can, but he’s mad now, so whether he can still perceive those subtle sensations is hard to say.”

“Where is the location?”

Shard asked, and Iluna pointed towards the city direction, far from the mountains:

“There, and the distance isn’t far, about 6 miles (approximately 9.7 km). The opponent’s movent speed is very slow, almost at walking speed.”

Then Iluna blew the bone whistle and summoned the Undead Skeletal Horse. The skeletal horse carried the two into the air, where they saw from high above the burning river valley in the heavy snow, confirming their current location:

“The Guardian is heading not in the direction of the Night Shrine!”

Iluna made the judgnt almost imdiately.

“So the ritual location is not the Night Shrine, but another area in the northeastern part of the city?”

He told Iluna the seismic center position he sensed at Wilder Opera House after the earthquake, and of course the town’s Sun Church had vaguely determined the most contaminated area outside the town after the quake.

The two exchanged information, basically confirming that the Mad Guardian’s target was the Elon Riverside, that empty piece of land where nothing existed.

At this mont, every second of ti was precious, so Iluna pulled the reins, letting the skeletal horse fly directly towards the destination. Only the airborne target was still sowhat too large; having just confird the location at the start, the deafening roar in the distance forced them to stop.

“We’ve been targeted by sothing!”

Shard, with stronger perception, turned his head to make the judgnt, and Iluna asked:

“Is it fast?”

“At least faster than us… it’s here!”

In the drifting grey snowflakes, a fossil of a black Sub-dragon with two heads was drawing closer. It belonged to so kind of ancient sub-dragon, but neither Shard nor Iluna could recognize its exact type.

Shard didn’t act but took out the relic [Higgs Dragonhead Stone] and handed it to Iluna:

“I can’t use my power at the mont, so I’m entrusting this to you. Deal with it, and we’ll go to the destination on the ground; being airborne is too conspicuous.”

“Okay.”

Iluna knew the function of the relic Shard handed over, so she held the reins with one hand and gripped the mysterious stone tightly with the right hand.

She took a deep breath as the spirit within her had a peculiar reaction due to the relic in her hand, while Shard clearly saw bright sun-like rays emanating from Iluna’s whole body.

This light was slightly different from that on Mia’s body. The light on the cat was more natural and gentle, whereas Iluna’s sunlight was almost frenzied:

“Roar!”

Even sitting behind Iluna, Shard could clearly see the golden light pillar that shattered the darkness leaving a clear light trace in the sky.

The powerful recoil almost caused the skeletal horse in mid-air to plumt to the ground. And at the end of the light trace that left a clear mark in the night sky, the light pillar smashed into the fossil carrying the contaminated earth power, scattering it in the air. Countless tiny bones fell to the ground and quickly ford a new contaminated zone in the woodland.

“Oh, the one-ti release of energy and spirit, so that’s how it feels, my throat~”

Iluna complained, taking out an [Ever-Youth Leaf] to hold in her mouth. She manipulated the skeletal horse to descend back to the woodland without minding the newly ford contaminated zone, instead moving at full speed with Shard towards the Guardian.
