Chapter 1470: Chapter 1470: The Final 3028
The familiar white mist appeared around Shard as he stepped forward. The adventure of entering past tis gave Shard a sense of ease, not needing to ponder or concern himself with the current tiline’s affairs.
Continuing to step forward, the scenic curtain of the City of Eternal Night from the Fifth Era gradually unfolded.
The sound of rain pattered, and the darkness swallowed the luminescent mist. However, this ti Shard didn’t find himself on a rainy street but directly on the castle terrace in the city’s center, known as the "Place of Dusk."
A semi-circular area, with a wall on the straight side featuring a double-tal door tightly shut, and two corners adorned with floor-standing candle lamps as colorful as the sunset.
At the curved wall near the terrace’s edge, there was a small tent surrounded by a thicket of three-colored moonlight thorns.
At this mont, the tent was open, and the Red Dragon Girl, with her large tail, was sitting on the soft blankets, wearing Shard’s coat, donning a pair of petite glasses from sowhere, and lowering her head under the light from the fla at her tail’s tip... knitting sothing with needles.
"Hmm?"
Though the scene was cozy, it didn’t align with Shard’s understanding of this place.
The spectacle made him initially think that the last trial of the City of Eternal Night was about breaking illusions. Yet, as Fiona noticed his arrival, flustered and hiding what she was knitting behind her back, nearly knocking over the tent when standing up, it made Shard realize everything before him was real.
After a snap of fingers, the three-colored moonlight thorns vanished, and Fiona walked out from the tent.
She said nothing, directly stretched her arms, and hugged Shard. Shard assud she had been alone here too long, feeling sad due to loneliness, and hugged her back but was taken aback when the red-haired girl pushed him aside and then directly kissed him.
Such a welcoming gesture was sothing Shard encountered for the first ti.
"I said I would return."
When Fiona finally let go of him, Shard still thought the red-haired girl’s actions stemd from lancholy. Fiona said nothing; when she attempted to unbutton Shard’s clothes again (note), Shard finally sensed sothing was off and stopped her:
"Hold on, what are you doing?"
"Really~" The Witch of the Fifth Era softly complained, giving up her actions:
"Welco back, Shard."
The conversation seed at last to proceed formally; however, the Red Dragon Witch suddenly sniffed at Shard’s neck and then anxiously asked:
"Why is there a scent of the Evil Spirit Demon?"
She placed her hand on Shard’s left chest to feel the heartbeat, frowning deeply:
"Shard, what did you just experience?"
"Encountered an Ancient Evil Spirit. Stone Mirror Demon - Gawder."
Shard replied honestly; to the powerful Witch of the Fifth Era, this wasn’t forbidden knowledge.
"Isn’t that one of the oldest demons ntioned in the teacher’s book?"
Fiona grew even more worried.
"Oh, don’t worry, my friend has sealed it again. I sustained so minor injuries, but I’m recovering now."
Shard patted his chest, and Fiona could see he was in recovery, yet remained concerned about his demonic encounter:
"I don’t have the knowledge of the teacher or her teacher, can’t resolve your issues in a blink like them."
She said sowhat downcast, while Shard wanted to change the topic and asked with concern:
"By the way, why aren’t you sleeping this ti?"
As he spoke, he gestured for Fiona to help pack the tent’s belongings.
"Slept too long the previous tis, not sleepy at all. So upon waking early, I found sothing to do."
The red-haired girl gently, elegantly yawned:
"I discovered the curtain Teacher Feliana made, although trying to go sowhere never visited requires constant luck, can unconditionally return its user to places already visited."
Taking advantage of Shard stooping to turn the blankets into toys, she grasped the chance to stash what she hadn’t finished knitting behind her:
"So I went to the café, clock shop, and art gallery again, aiming to see if anything useful could be bought."
"Did you gain anything?"
Shard curiously asked, Fiona regrettably shaking her head:
"Recovered so lost luggage, bought so yarn and miscellaneous stuff... but not entirely fruitless. I finally rembered what price Teacher Feliana and Teacher Orland sought from the deity we are about to et to acquire the future school’s land."
"That’s great!"
Shard felt a surge of joy, surprised that tonight’s second major issue was resolved so easily. If Fiona could rember everything, he wouldn’t have to rack his brains to find a way for the God of Bygone Days to agree to Miss Feliana’s request:
"What is the price?"
"Miss Feliana found a treasure from the First Era, recording stories of the Ancient Gods. It’s a gift that even the deities cannot refuse."
Unexpectedly, the "treasure" ntioned in Miss Danester’s docunts turned out to be true, so both "Evil Beast" and "story" were wrong answers.
"So the story on that stone tablet is..."
Shard asked expectantly, and Fiona thought for a mont before speaking softly:
"The Ancient God incarnation of Silvermoon, as the Saint, ca to the Material World and, together with the Sun God, defined day and night. For the God of the Night that we are about to face, this is the most suitable gift."
Shard’s smile froze instantly.
If he rembered correctly, the treasure Ms. Danester described, which was collected during the Sixth Era at Saint Byrons Integrated Academy, included the stone tablet Fiona was now referring to. Miss Danester even said that once Shard reached Twelve Rings, she could take him to see that stone tablet.
And the obvious fact is, if Fiona from the Fifth Era gave that stone tablet as a gift to the God of the Night they are about to et, then there’s no reason it could still be collected by Saint Byrons Integrated Academy in the Sixth Era.
In other words, even though they haven’t pushed open the door of the Place of Dusk to enter the hall, Shard already knew Fiona would fail.
"What’s wrong?"
The Red Dragon Girl also noticed Shard’s unease. As he couldn’t reveal too much about future events, Shard could only answer simply:
"Most likely, this transaction will have issues... Do Miss Feliana and Miss Orland have any backup plans?"
It was Fiona’s turn to frown:
"I rember there should be one, but I only rember the existence of the backup plan, not the specific content."
This was Shard’s last visit to the City of Eternal Night. He had no more ti to wait. Even if he was willing to let this task fail and leave, giving Fiona more ti to recover her mory, the Red Dragon Girl would definitely not be willing to be left here alone.
She would rather face failure together with Shard.
Using "Toy Making" to pack luggage was quite convenient. The two chatted aimlessly while packing up the things they needed to take, with only the ancient Dragon Book needing to be carried on their backs. Naturally, Shard would leave anyti, so Fiona carried it.
Apart from the things she crafted herself, Fiona also secretly stuffed Shard’s coat into her small bag while he was inattentive, and when Shard turned his head, she pretended to wrap the Black Nightfall fabric around her waist.
Actually, Shard thought of his clothes after packing, but he didn’t ask for them:
"Let’s go, no matter what, we have to face the upcoming results."
Shard said, pressing his chest lightly. At this ti, Mia was stored in the form of a toy in his inner coat pocket, and about to face a deity, Shard didn’t plan to release the cat.
He just thought, even if he couldn’t help Miss Feliana achieve her goal this ti, he must at least ensure Fiona’s safe departure from here. Life is only once, and the chance to trade with gods is not a once-in-a-lifeti opportunity for the Grand Witch.
And since the three possibilities obtained in the Sixth Era were "treasure
