Chapter 1339: Chapter 1339: Dragon, Cat, and Fire
The four ounces of “Sand of Ti soaked by the Night” that Shard found from his own tiline were intended for purchasing a gear in this clock shop, as part of assembling the Compass pointing to the End Point.
When the two of them returned to the counter and opened the inventory list, the price of that gear hadn’t risen. After Shard expressed his wish to purchase it, sounds of gears turning, axles grinding and pistons pushing ca from within the wooden counter, followed by a click, and a drawer popped out on the exterior of the counter.
Shard placed the prepared Sand of Ti into the drawer and then pushed it back into place. After waiting for a mont, another drawer popped open, containing the exact gear they were looking for. The inside of the gear was just the right size to fit the base of Fiona’s Compass, allowing the compass base to be locked inside the gear.
“Now with the spoon from the cafe, the gear from the clock shop, we only need to find the last item, and we can pass through the curtain and reach the deepest palace of the City of Eternal Night.”
Fiona said happily, carefully putting the gear back into the inner pocket of her clothes.
“Oh, Fiona, look at this.”
The last ti they left, they only hurriedly skimd through the product catalog of the clock shop and didn’t have the chance to look at more items there. So, even though they had successfully obtained the large gear, neither Shard nor Fiona was in a hurry to leave.
Shard flipped through the catalog casually and ca across so quite interesting items:
[Ti Stop Pocket Watch (one-ti use), Divine Creation, capable of stopping ti in the entire Material World.]
Although the illustrations in the clock shop’s inventory were in black and white, Shard was still able to discern from the illustration on the left that this was a very finely crafted pocket watch.
[Ancient God creation, usage requires the paynt of a drop of divinity. Consequences of use are at your own risk, extrely dangerous.]
[Purchase requires paynt with a Ti Key to the First Era or solidified Night.]
“Why is the usage cost so vague here?”
Fiona asked curiously, only then did Shard realize she couldn’t see the word “divinity”.
“Such extrely dangerous items, even if we could afford them, I think it’s best not to buy. Ti is sothing that requires reverence.”
Shard said very seriously, then recalled those ti-stop movies he watched back ho.
Continuing to flip through the pages hurriedly, he ca across two more familiar items.
[Ever-Youth Leaf, Relic, the best ornant to maintain eternal youth.]
The illustration on the left was of the most familiar leaf to Shard, of which he still had two in his possession.
[Rumored to be a leaf from the World Tree, perfect for decorating clocks.]
[Purchase requires paynt with a Ti Key to the Third Era or earlier or a corpse of a Ti Worm.]
“This was a reward from a Ti Key task, I once got one piece.”
Fiona told Shard, who looked at her in surprise, not expecting that Fiona also had extraordinary experiences.
[Ti of Retrospection – Replica, Alchemical Item, rewinds ti within an area for half an hour, with a ninety percent chance of failure.]
The illustration on the left was the hourglass Shard had seen before.
[A delicately crafted replica hourglass, can only be used once, and will attract the peeping of Hounds and invoke a curse of ti.]
[Purchase requires paynt of 100 years of life.]
“I’ve heard of the original Ti of Retrospection, it is quite a dangerous relic.”
Fiona said to Shard, who did not ntion that he had seen the original Ti of Retrospection and even used its power.
The items sold in this clock shop were more formidable than most items in the Dragon Maid Café, and therefore the asking prices were also quite high. The various bizarre paynt thods, so of which Shard had never even heard of.
Of course, although most were very expensive, there were a few that the two could afford. Even if they bought these supernatural items, Shard couldn’t bring them back to his own ti, but so things were still very useful to Fiona:
[Sand of Ti soaked in Dragon Blood, 1 ounce, Alchemical Material.]
The illustration on the left was a small handful of sand.
[An alchemical material born under extrely rare circumstances, precious, yet not overly precious.]
[Purchase requires paynt with Glimr.]
“The ti energy inherent in Sand of Ti makes it hard to be tainted by other powers. Dragons are indeed powerful creatures, but they have not yet surpassed ti. Therefore, this alchemical item, I suppose, cannot be found elsewhere.”
Shard shared his thoughts:
“Fiona, since you have Dragon lineage, perhaps this special Dragon Blood might be useful for you.”
“It does seem quite suitable for .”
The Red Dragon Girl was sowhat interested as well, her golden-red eyes fixed on the picture, prompting Shard to suggest:
“Let
pay with light, just like last ti, don’t be polite with . We can buy three Ever-Burning Candles, and then we can step into the darkness.”
The drawer behind the counter popped open again, this ti revealing an impenetrable darkness.
Just like last ti, Shard used his Light Spell to pay for the material. Fortunately, this sand didn’t seem more expensive than Fiona’s, so although Shard was sowhat drained from the intense consumption of spirit, he was in a much better state than last ti.
Next, Fiona paid with fresh blood drawn from her body to purchase three Ever-Burning Candles. While the two were busy buying items, the curious cat jumped onto the counter.
Since it was always within Shard’s line of sight and wasn’t running around, Shard didn’t mind it. Thus, Mia ca to the open list of goods, extending her paw to turn the page. This cat could flip books, often ssing around with the books Shard left on his desk in the study.
While Shard was supporting the sowhat dizzy Fiona from blood loss, the cat was continuously flipping the pages. Shard could only lift it up with one hand:
“Mia, be good, we’re about to set off.”
Fiona’s blood loss wasn’t particularly serious. After a brief rest, she could unfold the curtain made by Miss Feliana, allowing them to head to the final location, the “Midnight Art Gallery” in the City of Eternal Night.
At that mont, Shard was still “battling” with Mia, who was sohow a bit disobedient. He tried to turn the cat into a toy with a towel, as it would soon be quite dangerous, but the agile cat dodged. When Shard was about to use “Binding Light” to capture the cat as if giving it a bath, having seen this move before, Mia imdiately walked up to Shard.
With an obedient gesture, her four small paws were tucked together as she squatted on the counter, her little head slightly lowered, looking up with big, pitiful eyes.
“What exactly do you want to do?”
Shard asked both amused and exasperated, and the cat, as if understanding, glanced at Fiona’s tail.
“Since it’s curious, let it have a look.”
The kind-hearted Red Dragon Girl, though a bit weak, still smiled and said:
“I’ll carefully control the fla, it won’t get burned.”
She pulled her tail, extending the tip toward the counter. The cat maintained its obedient squatting pose, but its neck stretched forward, amber eyes wide with amazent.
Golden flas reflected in Mia’s big eyes, continually observing the cat. Afraid it’d recklessly dash into the flas, Shard clearly saw in that instant that there were indeed two slender flas flickering in Mia’s eyes.
[With the ‘Son of the Sun’ bloodline, it is undergoing so subtle transformation.]
“She” chuckled and said, but Shard couldn’t discern any changes in his cat.
Mia’s tail swayed behind her, then reached for the fla on Fiona’s tail. Shard hurriedly tried to stop it, but the Red Dragon Girl said gently:
“It’s okay, I control the fla. Let your cat try, children at this age are always curious.”
Perhaps due to her own Red Dragon Bloodline, Feliana’s perception of cats seed quite different from that of ordinary humans.
Thus, Mia’s tail indeed touched the dragon’s tail fla. At that mont, Shard thought sothing extraordinary might happen, but he only heard Mia ow softly. Then, the cat retracted her tail, obediently squatted without moving, looking up at Shard, to be turned into a toy.
The cat’s thoughts are sotis really hard to understand.
He intended to carry the toy Mia with him, but recalling the last ti he ventured into the darkness with Fiona, where everything he carried turned black after being engulfed by the dark,
he decided not to carry the cat. Instead, he turned Mia into a toy for Fiona to carry.
The red-haired girl unfolded the curtain at the doorway, the wind and night rain quickly soaking the fabric. After confirming their luggage was packed, Shard held Fiona’s hand, and together they dashed toward the curtain.
After breaking through the cold curtain, the drizzling rain soaked their shoulders, and the light from the “Eternal Night Jewelry Store” window behind them provided a small glimr for the two on the street. The city of Eternal Night seed capable of existing in this rain until the end of ti, and Shard imdiately spotted the sign for “Midnight Art Gallery” across the street:
“We’re really lucky this ti, it’s right here!”
Shard laughed and said to Fiona, but the Red Dragon Girl was quite worried:
“The distance to the other side is farther than last ti; three candles might not be enough to get us there safely.”
“It’s okay, I’ll throw you over at the end. Don’t worry about , don’t forget I can emit light myself.”
Of course, this didn’t an that Shard wouldn’t be hard in the darkness. Even if he could emit light, he couldn’t linger too long in the deep night, but Shard didn’t ntion this.
“Alright, I understand.”
The Red Dragon Girl carefully put away the curtain hanging in mid-air, holding Shard’s hand with her left hand and a candle in her right. Then her tail coiled from her side to the front of her body:
“Shard, please get ready. Three, two, one!”
