Chapter 1337: Chapter 1337: Tail and Fire

“Last night…”

Setting down the Holy Water Bottle, Shard sowhat wistfully unbuttoned his shirt and looked at the faint mark on his chest:

“Long-Haired Luvia’s words actually revealed many things. If I’m not mistaken, even though he isn’t a Circle Sorcerer, the ‘demon’ Ston Osenfort, who can already use supernatural power, should be the second candidate for the Chosen of the Earth.”

[Do you already understand why Lathis had to be killed to beco the Chosen One?]

“Yes, because it’s highly probable that when she was speaking with Long-Haired Luvia, the first candidate was still around and had major issues, to the point that…it’s better not to speculate randomly; evidence is needed. But fortunately, I already know the location of that Night Shrine, which is really quite important.”

The Ti Key intended to be activated on Sunday night was forced to be delayed until today due to Shard’s injury, but thankfully, the ‘Sand of Ti perated with darkness’ had already been acquired.

Before heading to Randall Valley today, Shard planned to first activate this key, and before officially departing, he went up to the attic to take a small cluster of flas generated by the ritual ‘Sunfire’ over these two months and absorb it into his body.

When traveling to past tis, besides those mission items, supernatural items cannot be carried. However, because he bears the embers of the Fire of the Primordial, Shard can bring the Sunfire into past tis by absorbing it himself, which he had done once before when he helped Miss Chloe (Chapter 1061).

He intended to bring this fla to Miss Fiona to help her survive in the City of Eternal Night.

Just like last ti, Mia was very dissatisfied that Shard was going to give this fla to soone else and eagerly tried to reach the remaining fla, but Shard stopped her. So, the cat wanted to accompany Shard on the adventure again. Considering that though the City of Eternal Night is dangerous, the actual crises faced were mostly moving from one store to another, and at this mont, the cat could be turned into a toy, Shard decided to let her co along.

“But you have to behave, or next ti I won’t bring you… May the World Tree bless

throughout infinite ti.”

Click!

The door swung open, and Shard checked that the Sand of Ti was in his pocket before stepping into the thick white mist bathed in the morning sunlight streaming through the window.

[Outlander, you have stepped into the ‘Ti Corridor.’]

Taking another step forward in the white mist, with the opening of the curtain, the street scene of an old rain-soaked city appeared in front of Shard.

The windows of the buildings around were all lit, and the brightest among them in the distance was the ‘Midnight Clockwork’ shop where he had left last ti.

As Shard noticed the clock shop, the lights from the sides of the street gradually dimd far away, and the darkness approached him along the street.

Perhaps it was because he had just tapped into the power of the Night Shrine yesterday; this ti, the encroaching darkness did not give him the sa creepy feeling from before but rather instilled a sense of inexplicable familiarity.

He shook his head violently to dispel the odd sensation and then dashed forward in the rain. Before the darkness could engulf the entire street, he managed to rush into the warm and dry clock shop. Everything was just as it had been upon his last departure, though the continual ticking of the clocks was slightly unnerving.

Once he confird he was in a safe location, Shard reverted the toy cat back to Mia. The cat perched on Shard’s shoulder, enthusiastically examining the surroundings as though oblivious to the danger around.

Delving deeper into the shop, he found a tent set up in the corner. Drawing back the flap revealed the sleeping Red Dragon Girl, Miss Fiona Drago, nestled between soft blankets.

Her sleeping posture was quite peculiar, her large tail passed between her legs, cradled like a plush toy, with Shard’s jacket caught between her tail and her face.

The sound of the tent being opened disturbed the slumbering girl. She mumbled dreamily, a voice filled with a distinctly girlish and playful tone. Her tail slowly slipped from her embrace, and as she opened her sleepy eyes, seeing both Shard’s and the cat’s faces poking into the tent, she imdiately blushed upon realizing the closeness of the large faces:

“Oh!”

Fiona, with a flushed face and eyes shut, quickly pushed Shard out of the tent. Monts later, the Red Dragon Girl erged from the tent fully dressed, no longer wearing that black-and-white maid outfit.

Now, Fiona wore a won’s white shirt with two lace vertical stripes on the chest, layered under a blue blazer decorated with gold-trimd collar, cuffs, placket, and hem, though the blazer was smaller, revealing the shirt’s color at the collar, cuffs, and hem.

Her lower half featured a sowhat thin red short skirt, though calling it ‘short’ was an exaggeration as it reached down to her knees, exposing legs clad in black fabric and a pair of brown leather shoes. In this world, the outlander had never seen anyone in such a short skirt before; his gaze inadvertently drifted across Fiona’s legs multiple tis, causing the latter to blush lightly.

Shard was quite curious about where the clothes ca from but later rembered she had a small bundle with her.

To prevent her from feeling awkward, Shard proactively brought up a new topic:

“Fiona, do you rember this cat?”

He said while holding Mia. During the adventure in the Valley of Dead Silence – Gadis Library, this cat was used as a symbol of the sun, so Fiona had indeed seen it.

“Yes, a cat as warm as the sun.”

The red-haired girl nodded while pursing her lips, but she hadn’t forgotten the earlier incident due to Shard’s topic:

“Sleeping with the tail wrapped around is a habit I’ve had since I was little… It’s quite strange, isn’t it?”

“No, no, it’s interesting, I an, it’s a very elegant sleeping posture.”

Fiona’s face appeared even redder, while Mia focused her attention on the thick dragon tail, then looked at her own tail, montarily caught in confusion.

Until Shard opened the tent just now, Fiona was startled awake, not because she lacked vigilance, but because she used a very peculiar arcane technique. When Shard asked about it, Fiona explained:

“Arcane Technique – Moon Dream. My teacher, Miss Orland, developed this arcane technique by combining information discovered in the Ancient Night Spirit Temple. Fully mastering this arcane technique can even delay the decay of the soul, but my talent for the moon’s power is not high. Using this technique to fall into the Moon’s Dream to preserve stamina and spirit at the sa ti can lead to poor perception of the surrounding environnt. Fortunately, I am also a Circle Sorcerer, and another part of

can serve as a supplent to perception.”

It seems that the arcane technique taught to Shard by the librarian in the Sixth Era was indeed uniquely created by Saint Byrons.

“As long as you haven’t encountered any danger, that’s good. Before leaving this ti, I can cast a protection spell on you. Coincidentally, my protection lasts until the next midnight… Oh! I brought you a gift!”

He had Mia stay still on his shoulder and presented his hands in a cupped gesture. After a mont, a slender fla appeared in his palm, its golden-yellow gleam representing the pure power of the sun.

“This is…”

Fiona looked surprised at the fire:

“The sun?”

“Yes, back at Gadis Library, I didn’t have this fla; otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a need to painstakingly gather the solar symbol items.”

Shard said, then asked:

“This fla should be helpful to you. Do you have an ability or alchemical tools that can absorb this fla? If not, the clock shop should have similar items for sale.”

“No, no, I can do it myself… This gift is a bit too precious.”

The Red Dragon Girl said shyly. Shard shook his head:

“No need to be so polite with . You should know about my relationship with Miss Feliana and Miss Orland.”

Fiona nodded and softly said:

“You also saved

once at the Gadis Library… Shard, you seem quite curious about my tail?”

She mustered up her courage to ask.

“No, no,”

Shard imdiately shook his head.

“If you are really curious, you can touch my tail.”

“Alright, ahem, I an, yes, I am indeed curious.”

The red-haired girl flashed a reserved smile.

As for her thod of absorbing the fla, it was much more peculiar than Shard had imagined.

The “Sunfire,” as a highly mysterious form of unholy fire, would instantly reduce one to ashes if touched unprepared. But the Red Dragon Race, being dragons adept at fire manipulation, even if hybrid, have unique ways to control fire.

Fiona lifted her large tail and poked the tip of it towards the fla in Shard’s palm. Instead of showing signs of burning when the tail tip touched the fla, Shard felt the tail adapting to the fla’s temperature.

Monts later, Fiona moved her tail away from Shard’s palm, and the fla remained on the tail’s tip, like the tail was continuously burning:

“This fla is too strong; I can’t absorb it all at once, so I’ll take it slow. Once I’ve fully absorbed the fla, the tail will no longer show any visible fire.”

Fiona said embarrassedly, also indicating how strong Miss Chloe encountered on the Snow Mountain was, as she directly absorbed all the flas.
