Chapter 1324: Chapter 1324: Plague rchant

Iluna and Shard, holding Mia, imdiately chased toward the door. Since the staircase was a bit farther from the inn’s main entrance, although the rchant started running a step earlier, the three of them arrived at the Hymn Square outside almost simultaneously.

It was already morning, and the square was bustling with people. The rchant didn’t display any supernatural powers, nor did he dive into the crowd. Instead, he turned and ran into the alley beside the inn.

Iluna, ahead of Shard, also rushed into the alley. But as soon as she turned in, she saw the rchant holding an open briefcase, displaying its contents to her:

“Miss, do you want to buy so dicine?”

The lid of the briefcase and the box itself were connected by three-layered tal brackets made of simple pulleys and levers. Each layer had small compartnts welded in tal, containing colorful pills of various shapes.

Iluna widened her eyes suddenly, feeling a bone-chilling cold wind sweep through the alley. She then felt her body becoming much weaker. Countless cold, ghostly hands in the void clutched her arms, with that chilling sensation spreading to her entire body. Influenza, gastroenteritis, bronchitis, dragon poison—multiple illnesses manifested simultaneously but were individually dispelled due to her strong physical constitution.

So sort of malice was staring at her as the briefcase opened. Iluna originally didn’t intend to respond, but her mouth spoke involuntarily:

“I am very healthy and don’t need pills.”

The fake dicine salesman continued to ask:

“Are you sure you don’t have any illnesses? Think carefully, take two more steps toward , and you might indeed discover sothing.”

After he spoke, Iluna curiously wanted to take two steps. The naless malice grew stronger. She really began to ponder if she had any ailnts and then rembered worrying about her weight recently. Hence, she was careful with her diet at every al and often practiced Arcane Technique in the church’s underground areas and Galina Manor outside the city to burn off stored fat:

“Lately, I might have so…”

At that mont, Shard arrived. Not knowing the traits of the relic, he hurriedly covered Iluna’s mouth, preventing her from saying further.

Iluna, being one ring higher than Shard, although not as physically formidable, could waste enough ti for the fake dicine salesman to escape if they struggled. Fortunately, Iluna wasn’t deeply under control and had no intention to move. Hence, Shard easily bound her hands with a silver ring he threw, and she stayed still obediently.

Thus, the fake dicine salesman, half of whose face was wrapped in bandages, aid the open briefcase at Shard:

“Sir, do you want to buy so dicine?”

“ow?”

Mia peeked her little cat head out between Shard’s coat buttons, then was firmly pressed back by Shard. The relic wasn’t asking her since the cat’s gender was different from Shard’s.

Just like Iluna earlier, Shard also sensed the bone-chilling wind blowing through him. As he felt a faint weakness, invisible malice grasped him with ghostly hands from the void.

“Do I have any illnesses?”

Shard asked himself inwardly.

[I think not.]

“My body is very healthy.”

Shard spoke lightly, reaching into his pocket. As the fake dicine salesman was about to suggest he take two steps as well, Shard already took out the Plague Doctor’s Ring, which he had retrieved from Mia’s tail that morning, and put it on his finger:

“I think even if there’s sothing wrong with my body, this ring can help .”

He shook the ring on his finger, and the rchant seed montarily stunned, then closed the briefcase dejectedly, causing all illusions and malice to vanish. The graffiti on the walls, the sll of garbage below the alley walls beca so real and clear. Shard disliked this alley.

Only beneath the “fake dicine salesman” was there an abnormal small shadow, sothing squirming within it:

“That damned plague doctor, even in death, he left his ring to steal my business.”

“You know the original owner of the Plague Doctor’s Ring?”

“I know. t him back in the Fourth Era, but that was a long ti ago.”

The rchant spoke as he retreated:

“Since you have this ring, I won’t push the pills on you. Goodbye~”

Saying so, he moved to retreat into the unknown darkness appearing behind him, but the annoyed Iluna wouldn’t allow it:

“You can’t leave!”

Holding a dark golden balance, the balance symbolizing Ancient God Power emitted glimr, directly dispersing the shadow behind the rchant. anwhile, Shard pointed a finger, and a silver thorn bush sprouted from the alley’s soil, instantly blocking the exit at the other end of the alley densely.

“Really, encountering this kind of thing first thing in the morning.”

Iluna dropped a talisman to prevent ordinary passersby from seeing what was happening in the alley from outside:

“Tell us what you truly are. If you can’t explain clearly, we wouldn’t mind having a battle with you.”

“Oh, I’m just a rchant, you don’t need to be like this.”

The rchant, with bandages wrapped around his face, spoke as if he feared the Balance in Iluna’s hand, taking a step toward the wall:

“I am rarely discovered by the Church Power, currently only the events regarding

were recorded by Xerxes Higher dical Academy at the beginning of this Era, I rember it’s… Keeper of Secrets Level Relic.”

Humanoid Relics, the lowest danger level is Keeper of Secrets Level.

“Are you spreading disease and curse, or selling pills?”

Iluna asked again, Shard stood by silently but was ready to take action at any mont.

“Truly a strange question, if it weren’t for spreading disease, how could I sell pills?”

The rchant found this strange and explained his business model:

“Hatred and malice are always rampant among mortals, so soone found

to give a plague to his or her enemy. As for the disease, regardless of its previous contagion ability or how powerful it naturally was in spreading, once sold by , it becos extrely contagious. In this way, people will seek

to cure the disease, but I will only treat one person. Others who are infected hear of my skill and will also co to

for treatnt. Thus, I can earn more than double the compensation.”

As he spoke, he nodded:

“So the Xerxes Higher dical Academy calls

the ‘Plague rchant,’ and believes that whenever I appear, a large-scale epidemic will definitely break out. This is not accurate, I only occasionally cause a large-scale plague.”

Then he was left speechless, for Iluna had already conjured a long spear crackling with Golden Thunder, the exploding Sunlight Gun making Shard, who was close at hand, feel the surrounding temperature rising:

“Leave this city, and do not show up again for ten years!”

Humanoid Relics are extrely difficult to contain, generally sealed or exiled. Although they had threatened to fight earlier, this was, after all, the Hymn Square of the Northern District of the Royal Capital, bustling with people, making it impossible for Shard and Iluna to fight here. Moreover, if during the fight, the opponent indiscriminately releases the plague, it would be tough to manage the situation.

Therefore, Iluna made this request.

“Of course, no problem, inheritor of the Ancient God, since you’ve caught , and your companion also has that damned ring, you make the decisions.”

The rchant said, but Iluna was not yet satisfied:

“We’re letting you go, but that’s against the rules, you should offer us so compensation.”

Actually, this was not against the rules, special circumstances require special treatnt.

“What do you want?”

The rchant hesitated a mont before asking.

“If this ring is used by a non-human entity, the side effect is reduced lifespan, is there a way to overco it?”

Shard shook the Plague Doctor’s Ring.

“That’s a trait of the relic, not a disease or curse.”

The rchant imdiately shook his head.

“Do you know how to heal the Earth then?”

“You must be talking about that matter in the south of the Old Continent, right? Oh, sir, you must be overestimating .”

The rchant was startled.

“Then do you have pills similar to the Relic Panacea? Ones that can cure all diseases and curses.”

Iluna asked, but the rchant shook his head again:

“You both probably have so misunderstanding about . If I were truly this powerful, would I be cornered in this alley? Although I’m a Humanoid Relic, I… how about this, inheritor of the Ancient God, I will grant you the power of healing, if you plan to heal others, do it yourself.”

Then he once again opened his suitcase and tossed Iluna a Glass Conical Flask containing a white pill. Iluna took out the pill and sniffed it suspiciously, and upon Shard’s inspection confirming its safety, she swallowed it.

“Arcane Technique – Sunshine Healing, when my hand touches sunlight from nature, I can cast this light upon the target, including myself, suffering from plague or curse, thereby healing them. Its effect on ordinary wounds is not strong. This is very similar to the Church’s Divine Arts Sunlight Healing Spell. Although the Church’s spell only heals oneself, its effect is stronger than this, and it can cure diseases, curses, and ordinary injuries.”

Iluna said, but Shard knew she was very satisfied with this gain.

Shard then looked at the rchant, who nodded:

“I feel the glimr of the moon upon you, abilities related to Moonlight Healing are abundant, and you also have that ring. How about this, I’ll give this to you.”

He also tossed Shard a Glass Conical Vial, but instead of containing a pill, it held a black stone with golden engravings on its surface. The engravings were an ancient rune “Earth,” making Shard feel a strong Miracle Elent.

“This is not mine, I picked it up. Though I cannot heal the Earth, I have thought about how to address the issue. This was found in an ancient Earth Shrine during the previous Era. ‘Earth Rune Stone’, enhances the holder’s earth-related powers and provides immunity to part of the effects of the Curse of the Earth. Don’t be too greedy, I know this might not suit you, but this is all I can offer.”
