Chapter 1197: Chapter 1197: The Butterfly’s Ballad

After discussing Shard eting Miss Benanis, the witches each left, and Shard returned to Midshire Fort with Granny Cassandra. The old witch was very experienced with social interactions and even suggested that Shard bring a gift when visiting Miss Benanis the next day.

She had planned to help Shard prepare a gift, but the harmonica Shard had taken from the gift box was still gathering dust at ho, making it a suitable gift for the witch of Randall Valley. As for the "Immortality Magic," that gift was too valuable to present at the mont.

After bidding farewell to the witches and apprentices, Helen and Grace personally saw Shard off at the ruined tower in the Sicarl Mountain. At the entrance of the woodland’s ruined tower, Shard asked about another matter:

"Grace, do you know about the Old God - Butterfly God [Thousand-Eye Illusion Butterfly]?"

Shard inquired of the sister in the white dress, a girl looking about fifteen or sixteen, who exchanged a glance with her younger sister:

"Sir, have you encountered that deity in tis past?"

"Yes."

Shard nodded:

"Because you have intricate connections with butterflies, I wanted to know if you have ties with that deity..."

Grace reached out and held her sister’s hand, rging the two amid the crimson glimr of butterflies. The more mature girl possessed even greater power:

"Yes, the form of the butterflies is not only related to the red butterfly trinkets given by the Vampire God but also to the Butterfly God."

She gazed at Shard as he walked through the moonlit woodland, the tranquil moonlight illuminating his handso face:

"Although the Old God - Twin Gods, are our fundantal source of power, that Great One also granted us strength. Only, we lost that part of our mory, not because you consud it as the cost of saving us, but because it was lost during the transition between the Sixth Era and the Fifth Era."

Shard nodded to indicate his understanding:

"So, do you have any knowledge about this deity?"

"He loves ballads."

The Red Butterfly Maiden stated with certainty, her eyes with a strange red halo holding Shard’s gaze:

"If we can recover that part of our mory, we might just be able to sing for you, a ballad for the Butterfly God."

"How can the mory be restored?"

Shard asked, thinking it would be good to have an alternative thod to acquire the song.

The girl opposite blushed slightly:

"Enter the dream with us, delve deeply into our souls in the dream woven by butterflies, and open the doors of tightly closed mories."

Shard wondered if he misunderstood, so he just pretended to ponder and nodded:

"I understand. Then, I’ll take my leave. If needed, I will ask for your help."

The Red Butterfly Maiden’s face wore a sowhat regretful expression:

"Then good night, Shard..."

She gently embraced Shard, then like a bird touching its feathers to the lake’s surface, lightly kissed Shard on the lips:

"Sweet dreams."

By the ti Shard, with myriad thoughts in his mind, returned ho, it was already half-past nine in the evening. The blonde girl was sitting on the sofa in front of the fireplace with a cat, reading a magazine. Seeing Shard coming downstairs, she stood up and smiled, saying:

"Have you dealt with the witches’ business? Do you have plans to go out tonight?"

"I’m not going out. Before dinner, I already went to the abandoned manor outside the city, but it’s not accepting the effects of the [Power of the Earth: Healing Aura]. We’ll have to wait for another outbreak of problems on that land to ascertain if it’s the sa trouble as in Randall Valley."

He hugged the blonde girl, then noticed that she was Her Highness the Princess:

"Lecia, assist

in conducting a ritual. I want to learn the Arcane Technique [Voice of Music]."

"No problem, but have you prepared a birthday present for little Angelina’s birthday next month?"

Lecia helped him take off his coat, her nostrils flaring slightly, but she said nothing.

Shard shook his head in slight distress:

"I’m not good at selecting gifts. My current thought is to look around Randall Valley to see if there are any rare or precious specialty souvenirs. The local specialty is little clay sculptures, but they’re too ugly to make suitable gifts."

"If you’re unprepared, you could simply gift her a gemstone accessory. Pick one from your Gem Box, and I’ll find a qualified gemstone craftsman to refine it for you."

Lecia suggested with a smile, lightly kissing Shard on the cheek:

"Or you could give yourself as a gift to Angelina; she would probably be very happy."

She was testing him.

"Lecia, please don’t joke about that."

The learning ritual for the Arcane Technique [Voice of Music] is not complex; it rely requires as much quiet as possible, which is why Shard chose to perform it in the basent at night.

No Ritual Circle is needed for the ritual; the key elent is the Magic Potion. Made with the three precious Echo Grass, Priest Augustus had already completed it in twenty minutes this evening.

Once everything was prepared, Shard stood in the basent and drank the Magic Potion with a faint purple glow in one gulp. The Ring of Fate summoned from his back, and the divinity-infused [Echo] Spirit Rune glowed with dazzling golden light.

Shard extended his right hand to cover his right ear:

"do??~"

He sang the note, trying to make the pitch as standard as possible.

"re??~"

Lecia sang softly beside him, while the cat was locked upstairs at this mont to prevent it from owing and disrupting Shard’s ritual.

"mi??~"

"She" sang gently in Shard’s ear, and her voice was more pleasant than Shard’s and Lecia’s voices.

"fa??~"

Shard closed his eyes and continued singing, and he could vaguely hear the echoes of three different voices overlapping in his ears.

"sol??~"

This was once again the voice from Dorothy’s body. Her Highness the Princess was professionally trained in vocal music; the ladies of the Royal Family were all skilled singers.

"lai??~"

"She" continued singing. If "her" voice could be heard by others, then Shard wouldn’t need to make special preparations for that divine banquet.

"ti??~"

Shard opened his mouth for the third ti, and by now all three voices had overlapped in his ear. This was an auditory hallucination produced after drinking the Magic Potion, akin to having eaten poisonous mushrooms. At this mont, the Spiritual Light of the Spirit Rune was still flickering, indicating that the ritual was proceeding normally.

So, Shard, Lecia, and "she" all sang the final high note together:

"do↑??~"

The mixed sounds appeared in Shard’s ear, and the overlapping sounds disappeared at this mont. Then, from the low "do" to the high "do
