Chapter 299: Poke

In the quiet room on the other side of the residence, the Sword Fairy, Lu Yuliu, paced back and forth, feeling as if sothing was amiss but unable to pinpoint the issue.

’Bai Xiaoyao clearly knows things I don’t... but that’s understandable. After all, she’s the Holy Maiden of the Demon Sect, and it’s not like she can tell everything about it...’

Lu Yuliu rubbed her temples.

Bai Xiaoyao, had promised to address the engagent issue. However, being the ticulous person she was, the demoness wanted to verify several details first: the existence of the engagent itself, her senior brother’s attitude, and their master’s intent in sending the engagent papers at this particular ti.

Additionally, there was the mountain of unresolved matters Bai Xiaoyao had to address. With her limited ti, it made sense for her to hold a private, uninterrupted eting with her senior brother tonight.

—That seed reasonable enough, right?

Given everything on her plate, Bai Xiaoyao would likely prioritize resolving the engagent issue first. It wasn’t like anything untoward could happen... right?

Based on her understanding of her mischievous friend...

Well, Bai Xiaoyao’s personality was unpredictable, but surely she’d handle the pressing matters first, wouldn’t she?

"Haah..."

Lu Yuliu exhaled deeply and put down the ssaging short sword she had been gripping tightly.

Even though it was late at night, even though it was just the two of them in a room, and even though they had completely sealed off communication with the outside... perhaps, maybe, probably, there wouldn’t be a problem?

Suppressing the urge to grab the short sword again, Lu Yuliu, her face full of inner conflict, flopped onto her soft bed.

"It’ll be fine, it’ll be fine... When I wasn’t here before, they had plenty of opportunities to be alone, didn’t they? And nothing happened, right...?"

Probably.

Besides, at this mont, there wasn’t much she could do other than wait... She couldn’t just barge into that guy’s room in the middle of the night, could she?

Rolling back and forth on the bed, the young girl stared up at the familiar yet sohow alien ceiling, her beautiful eyes flickering with complex emotions.

’I’m back again...’

But compared to the little lie she’d told to leave before, her state of mind was completely different now.

Inside Luo Wusheng’s Room

"I see... So, Senior Brother was cultivating a special lightning technique, and the side effects of absorbing the lightning into your body caused your current condition?"

Bai Xiaoyao, sitting on the bed, pursed her lips slightly. Her expression turned a little strange as she glanced to the side.

Her cheeks still carried a slight blush, but most of her embarrassnt had faded. Instead, her breathing was sowhat uneven, and the corners of her lips twitched upward uncontrollably.

Luo Wusheng, who had all but given up, lay on his back in the exact spot he’d fallen earlier. The only part of his body he could move, his eyes, shifted slightly in silent acknowledgnt.

Her deduction was correct.

The paralysis caused by his lightning absorption had affected Bai Xiaoyao, but not nearly to the sa extent.

In fact, she only felt the effects because her cultivation level was slightly lower, and the lightning energy Luo Wusheng absorbed was a bit too potent.

Caught off guard, the demoness had montarily frozen before instinctively circulating her energy to counteract it. Within monts, she was free of the effects... but that brief mont had been long enough for sothing to happen.

When she recovered and rose with a face as red as a ripe apple, Luo Wusheng could still taste the sweet fragrance left in his mouth. His wide eyes watched a silvery string of saliva stretch, glint under the lamplight, and break, a few droplets landing on his lips.

’Even though she’s a demoness, she’s still just a young girl slightly younger than ...’

Sensing his junior sister’s confusion and embarrassnt, Luo Wusheng—who had cald down quickly thanks to his past experiences—sighed internally.

This was a headache.

It had been an accident, but how was he supposed to address it?

Well, given his current paralyzed state, there wasn’t much he could do anyway. For now, he focused on transmitting an explanation to the flustered girl through voice transmission.

The demoness laughed.

Bai Xiaoyao had been utterly disoriented. Even after standing up, her heart had continued to pound wildly, and her body temperature had noticeably risen. Her chest heaved with each breath.

She had planned to do sothing tonight, but this was far more intense than she’d anticipated!

However, as her senior brother’s explanation unraveled, her gaze grew more peculiar, and her frantic heartbeat began to settle.

Putting aside the content of his words, the way he awkwardly stamred while explaining and the hint of panic in his tone... it was almost... cute?

For the first ti, Bai Xiaoyao had seen this side of Luo Wusheng, and she couldn’t help herself. A tinkling laugh escaped her lips like the sound of silver bells.

Her laughter washed away much of her tension.

’Originally, I wanted to make Senior Brother take the initiative... Oh well. We were bound to get to this point sooner or later, so a small accident like this doesn’t matter.’

As an expert manipulator of emotions, Bai Xiaoyao quickly regained her composure. Her embarrassnt and panic from the earlier incident faded, replaced by the playful deanor she was known for.

Although her ears still burned faintly, she fully embraced her role as a mischievous little demoness once more.

"Since Senior Brother can’t move or speak easily right now..."

Bai Xiaoyao adjusted her posture, shifting to lie sideways on the bed. She rested her chin on her hand, bringing her face to the sa level as Luo Wusheng’s.

Their eyes t at close range.

The Demon Sect’s Holy Maiden tilted her head slightly, her smile growing more mischievous. "It’s fine. Xiaoyao will patiently wait for Senior Brother to recover. There’s no need to rush~."

As she spoke, her free hand reached out, and with her index finger, she lightly poked Luo Wusheng’s cheek.

Her delicate hand trembled slightly.

"Just as Senior Brother said, the lightning energy is strongest in your right hand. It’s not as intense on your face..."

"Hehe, it feels tingly and numb~."

Poke

Then another poke.

Luo Wusheng could only watch helplessly as his playful junior sister, like a kitten toying with its prey, amused herself at his expense.

To make matters worse, his current angle gave him a clear view of the faintly visible mountain beneath her carelessly arranged clothing...

’She truly is a demoness... Her reactions are different from ordinary girls. Despite what just happened... Well, it shows how close we are, I guess?’

Resigned, the immobilized Holy Saint of the Demon Sect sighed inwardly.

So be it.
