"Deputy Sheriff Ronan..."

In the sheriff’s office on the third floor, also the top floor of the police station, Ford Hamill casually asked, "How have you been feeling at the station recently?"

Ronan, seated across from him, smiled and said, "Pretty good."

Pretty good.

This answer caused Chief Ford’s eye to twitch slightly.

He didn’t like Ronan at all! Not one bit!

The reason for his aversion was primarily because Senior Detective Clent from the Seles Central Police Bureau was Ford Hamill’s long-ti friend, and they had once fought side by side, forming a deep friendship.

But Clent was demoted to an ordinary officer because of Ronan, undoing decades of hard work!

Now Ronan was interning under Ford Hamill, how could he possibly show Ronan any goodwill?

Additionally, Ronan, so young, had already beco a deputy sheriff. Considering Ford Hamill’s own struggles to beco only a sheriff, how could he maintain his composure?

What made the sheriff even more frustrated was that despite adopting a cold and hostile attitude towards Ronan, influencing the entire police station to ostracize him...

Ronan remained unaffected, as composed as a seasoned bureaucrat, with a mindset utterly unlike a young man.

Living what seed like a leisurely life every day, he looked quite comfortable!

Ford Hamill could certainly let Ronan muddle through until his internship ended, and then give him a harsh evaluation.

The issue was, Ford Hamill now knew this young intern deputy sheriff had a close relationship with Gustav Rein and was arranged to work in the Old Port District by the Lionheart Earl.

When the ti cos, even if he gave an unqualified rating, wouldn’t they have the ability to alter the records?

The answer is obviously negative!

So Ford Hamill decided to change his strategy towards Ronan.

He opened a drawer, took out a file, and tossed it in front of Ronan, "I’ll assign this case to you."

Ronan took the file and read through it.

This was a family massacre that occurred five days ago; the victims were the family of Levi Bower. He and his wife, along with their two children, were all killed at ho.

Due to the extrely skillful thods of the murderer, no useful clues were left, and the investigation was at a stalemate.

In fact, similar cases have occurred more than once in the Old Port District, typically being classified as cold cases, with the related files sinking into the archives, forgotten by all.

Levi Bower was a small workshop owner, considered a prosperous family in the Old Port District.

At the ti of the murder, all his ho valuables were looted, with not a single copper coin left!

Therefore, this family massacre was initially defined as a robbery and murder.

After reading the file, Ronan straightforwardly said, "Okay."

Ford Hamill looked at him deeply before pressing the desk bell to instruct his secretary to bring in a detective.

"Detective Kash."

Ford Hamill instructed the middle-aged detective, "The Levi Bower massacre is now handed to Deputy Sheriff Ronan; you are to assist in the investigation."

Detective Kash looked at Ronan, then the sheriff, responding stiffly, "Understood."

The frustration he felt was truly indescribable.

Over the past period, Ronan had always been one of the focal points of discussion among the officers at the Fourth Police Station. Detective Kash had also talked about this young intern deputy sheriff with his colleagues.

Everyone was in agreent that Ronan certainly wouldn’t last at the Fourth Station.

It was rely a matter of ti.

So even bet on how many days Ronan would last before snapping.

Unexpectedly, now he had to work on a case with Ronan, and it was the Levi Bower massacre case!

As the first person handling this case, Detective Kash was very aware of its difficulty.

Now, with Ronan added, he faintly felt like he was becoming cannon fodder.

Though the complaints remained internal, the detective was still polite to Ronan outwardly, "Sir, do let know if there’s anything."

Ronan didn’t hold back at all, standing up to say, "Take to the cri scene now."

He nodded to Ford Hamill and then left the office.

Detective Kash hesitated for a mont, turning his gaze to Chief Ford.

But the latter leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.

Detective Kash gritted his teeth and followed Ronan out of the room.

The two left the police station and mounted bicycles heading to the cri scene.

Though automobiles had long existed in this world, such advanced transportation was still a luxury in Seles, possessed only by a few nobles and rchants.

Most people traveled daily by carriage, rickshaw, or bicycle.

The Fourth Police Station issued bicycles to all detectives; though Ronan was an intern deputy sheriff, he owned a ride.

In fact, bicycles were still very practical and convenient on the crowded streets and alleys.

The cri scene was located on the fifth floor of an apartnt, and since the case was still under investigation, Levi Bower’s ho remained sealed with police tape, preventing entry.

The corpses were no longer in the apartnt room, but the dried blood at the scene remained striking.

Ronan compared the photos and reconstructed the cri scene in his mind.

Levi Bower’s family of four died terribly; however, there were no struggles at the scene. The weapon used by the assailant was determined by autopsy to be a short knife, with everyone except Levi Bower killed in one stroke.

Levi Bower was stabbed over a hundred tis - the murderer clearly didn’t want him to die quickly!

Furthermore, the cri occurred at night, and no residents of the sa building noticed anything amiss.

Even the apartnt manager was completely unaware.

No murder weapon, no traces, and no witnesses made the case extrely hard to solve!

The murderer was so skilled that he didn’t even leave footprints.

"We suspect a Transcendent."

Detective Kash said after Ronan had finished looking, "It’s done so cleanly and efficiently, very like an assassin’s thod, but can’t be 100% confird, as there are indeed too few clues."

Ronan thought for a while and asked, "Have you investigated Levi Bower?"

"Yes."

Detective Kash quickly replied, "The family ca to Seles from abroad five years ago. Levi Bower bought this apartnt and then set up a small workshop, the family’s livelihood relying on it."

"According to our investigation, Levi Bower had no enemies in Seles; his business wasn’t large, and had no business rivals."

"However, Levi Bower himself likely lived on a sea vessel for a long ti, with many indicators on his body proving this!"

Sailor? Or pirate?

Ronan nodded, "Then let’s go see his body."
