Seles, Old Port District.

This capital city of the Kingdom of Invia is ho to over a million long-term residents, and naturally, the city’s area is vast.

It is divided into seven major districts, with the Old Port District being one of them, a place where countless commoners and lower-class people reside, similar to the Lower City District of Lande City.

When night fell, Ronan ca to the Old Port District alone.

After so inquiries, he found the Blue Whale Tavern.

At this ti, it wasn’t too late into the night, and the long street was bustling with people. Compared to the central area of Seles, this already declining Old Port seed chaotic and noisy.

Everywhere in the streets and alleys, there were garbage piles that hadn’t been cleaned up, with three or five beggars and vagrants huddled nearby.

Every city has its prosperous wealthy side and its poor backward side, and Seles is no exception.

But the security here seems pretty good; at least there weren’t pickpockets brazenly mingling in the crowd to steal.

When Ronan pushed open the double doors of the Blue Whale Tavern, a mixed aroma of cheap tobacco, alcohol, costic powder, sweat, and roasted at assaulted him.

He instinctively activated his Spiritual Energy, blocking out the strong odors.

But Ronan couldn’t block out the inside’s hustle and noise.

The Blue Whale Tavern was quite large, packed with all sorts of drinkers, with not a single empty table to be seen, even the seats at the bar counter were all taken.

Many patrons held their glasses standing along the corners and aisles, so chatting and laughing heartily, while others whispered.

In the middle of the hall, there was a performance stage, where three beautiful dancers were performing hot dances under the accompanint of a musician.

Their alluring and sexy movents occasionally elicited cheers from the patrons, and copper coins rained down like a shower, with even so silver currency mixed in.

Ronan struggled a bit to push through the crowd and arrived at the bar counter.

With no seats available, he could only stand and wave to the busy bartender inside, "I’d like a mug of ale, please."

The bartender glanced at Ronan, imdiately pausing his work to pour him a fresh full mug of ale.

"One piece of silver currency, thank you."

This expensive?

Ronan was sowhat surprised.

The sa mug of ale in a tavern in Lande City would at most cost 20 copper coins, and a cheaper one would be just over ten copper coins.

Although consumption in Seles is high, this Blue Whale Tavern is not a high-end venue, and he didn’t think the patrons here could afford such high spending.

Ronan keenly sensed the strange gazes coming from the surroundings, mostly filled with ridicule and mockery.

He suddenly understood - he was being taken for a fool!

In fact, Ronan’s age, dress, and deanor were quite out of place with this tavern.

His entry had imdiately caught the attention of quite a few people.

The bartender exploiting him, nine out of ten tis, had mistaken Ronan for one of those thrill-seeking nobles or rchant’s sons!

He nonchalantly took out a piece of silver currency and tossed it on the counter, then grabbed the mug and took a sip.

The taste was alright.

Right then, a patron next to him whistled and said with a chuckle, "This generous and wealthy young master, would you mind buying Bark a drink? I’ve never had ale costing one silver currency a mug before!"

This patron nad Bark was burly and looked fierce, with a hint of malice in his eyes when he looked at Ronan.

His words had just fallen when the surrounding patrons burst into laughter, as if they had found sothing amusing.

"Sure."

Ronan smiled and took out another piece of silver currency, telling the bartender, "Another mug."

The bartender was quite surprised, looking at Ronan as if he were an idiot.

But since Ronan had already paid, he said nothing and poured another mug of ale.

"Haha, thank you, young master!"

Bark stretched out his hairy big hand to grab the mug.

But before his fingers could touch the mug, Ronan grabbed his hand, "Let ask you a question."

Bark was stunned for a mont, then beca furious, "Let go!"

As he shouted, his right arm suddenly exerted force, muscles instantly bulging as he tried to throw Ronan off.

But he didn’t move an inch!

Bark’s expression changed.

As a seasoned rcenary, although he didn’t have the strength of a Transcendent, he was at an elite warrior level, and the sudden burst of power shouldn’t have been sothing a weak noble’s son could withstand.

Yet now, despite his full effort, he couldn’t move Ronan in the slightest. The latter’s hand seed to contain a thousand pounds of force, firmly suppressing his struggle and resistance.

Bark even felt that if Ronan exerted a bit more force, his wrist bone would turn to powder!

He took a deep breath and forced a flattering smile at Ronan, "Sorry, I was a bit loud just now. May I ask what question you have?"

rcenary Bark wasn’t brainless; he had managed to survive thus far by knowing how to assess the situation and adapt accordingly, realizing he was facing sothing tough and imdiately brought himself down a notch.

Even with several companions by his side, Bark chose to temporarily give in.

The surrounding patrons were all dumbfounded, unsure why Bark’s deanor changed so quickly.

Ronan let go of his hand and asked, "I’m looking for soone here. Do you know an Old Jack?"

"Old Jack?"

Bark indeed knew, "Are you talking about the Old Jack who’s obsessed with alchemy?"

Ronan smiled, "Exactly, that’s him."

He was lucky to have found out easily. It seems Old Jack should be a well-known figure here.

"Old Jack must be at the Copper Anchor Casino at this ti."

Bark swallowed and said, "He only cos here to drink when he’s lost everything."

"Take to find him."

Ronan pulled out a gold pound and tossed it on the counter, "Here’s the reward."

The gold pound that shone with an enticing gleam instantly lit up Bark’s eyes, making his smile much more sincere, "Sure, I’ll take you to the Copper Anchor Casino to find Old Jack right away."

"If we don’t find him there, I’ll then take you to his house to look!"

Bark hadn’t expected Ronan to be so generous, feeling as if he’d been hit by a pie falling from the sky.

If it were soone else, this rcenary might have had ill intentions.

But Ronan had already proven his strength, so he beca very docile and sensible.

And the surrounding patrons all cast envious, jealous, and hostile glances at Bark — this money was too easy to earn!

So even started having thoughts.

Bark hurriedly pocketed the gold pound, not even drinking the ale on the counter, and led Ronan out of the Blue Whale Tavern.

The Copper Anchor Casino he ntioned wasn’t far from the tavern, only a few hundred ters away, though slightly more secluded, it was equally bustling and noisy inside.

Bark led Ronan around the casino, finally finding Old Jack at a gambling table in the corner.

This guy, obsessed with alchemy, was currently surrounded by three or five burly n.

Looking utterly pitiful, weak, and helpless!
