Chapter 1373: Chapter 1371 Blood Moon (13)
The dawn has arrived.
Lande City survived another torturous long night.
Explosions and cries in different areas of the Lower City District last night frightened many nearby residents, who curled up in bed, covering their ears and trembling.
They devoutly prayed to Goddess Yara, hoping the disaster wouldn’t befall them.
anwhile, the Third Police Station welcod a flood of officers for the new day.
Even the usually elusive Chief Crusade made an appearance.
This old chief is on the verge of retirent, and due to his deteriorating health, during Ronan’s tenure at the Third Police Station, he has been recuperating at a manor in the suburbs and rarely cos to the station.
Deputy Chief Sean is the one overseeing the station’s operations.
However, despite Crusade’s poor health, he had to appear today.
Because a superintendent from the central police bureau was dispatched to investigate the situation.
As a survivor and witness of last night’s attack on the station, Ronan was subjected to questioning from his superiors.
He was confident and had nothing to hide.
And after listening to Ronan’s account, Deputy Chief Sean seed to view this new officer anew, his eyes revealing uncontrollable astonishnt.
The reason is simple; last night, a total of seventeen police stations in the Lower City District were attacked by the enemy.
Due to the suddenness of the event, the officers manning the stations were completely unprepared, resulting in severe losses.
Most of the stations were breached, and before the Night Watchman arrived to provide support, the bandits swept clean the armories and evidence rooms, taking away nurous weapons and items.
Such a major incident put trendous pressure on Lande’s central police bureau, even the head superintendent was severely reprimanded, disgrace was everywhere.
Yet, the Third Police Station not only fended off the attack but also completely annihilated the enemy, even capturing two alive.
Such achievents are unparalleled!
The problem lies in the fact that such achievents were brought by Ronan, a young officer.
It’s truly bewildering.
“Well done!”
The superintendent sent by the central police bureau shook Ronan’s hand firmly and said with a smile, “If we had more outstanding young n like you, it would be wonderful!”
This superintendent already had plans in mind.
Regardless of whether Ronan’s achievents were exaggerated or not, the central bureau intended to herald him as a model and publicize it loudly.
Because cultivating a young hero in the police force could cover up much of the humiliation from last night’s attacks on multiple stations!
The central bureau could save face, with so accountability to upper tiers.
The more this superintendent thought, the more excited he beca, and after speaking with Ronan a bit more, he quickly left.
He was eager to return and discuss with his superiors how to handle the situation.
Chief Crusade also encouraged Ronan briefly and then left together with the superintendent.
Leaving behind Sean, who wore a strange expression.
Sean was no ordinary person; he clearly understood the thoughts of the departing superintendent.
Yet, he did not see this as beneficial for Ronan.
As the saying goes, ‘the bigger the tree, the more it attracts the wind,’ Ronan is too young, suddenly becoming the focus of attention, even hailed as a hero, is too likely to invite trouble.
Setting aside other issues, how could the force that attacked multiple stations not seek revenge on Ronan when inford of the situation?
Moreover, Sean sensed deep waters here!
The enemy’s actions were evidently preditated and took place on Blood Moon night; it’s impossible there were no accomplices within Lande City.
Although pondering, Sean couldn’t do anything for Ronan.
Firstly, his relationship with Ronan wasn’t that close, and secondly, he lacked the ability to intervene.
Thus, this deputy chief just patted Ronan’s shoulder and said, “Be cautious, and stay safe.”
That’s all he could say.
Ronan smiled and replied, “Thank you.”
In the following days, Lande City was filled with tension, especially at night, with Night Watch Brigade’s patrols becoming tighter and more frequent, and the police stations in the Lower City District receiving special attention.
If the sa incident occurred again, everyone would lose face entirely.
The defense at the Third Police Station was strengthened; the number of on-duty officers increased to ten, all equipped with rifles.
Until the Blood Moon period passed.
This Blood Moon period lasted seven days, neither too long nor too short.
As the lives of Lande City’s people returned to normal, the impact from the attacks on multiple police stations quickly faded, and no one openly discussed the event.
But beneath this calm surface, there was still an undercurrent!
For Ronan, this Blood Moon period brought him two changes.
Firstly, due to his exceptional performance in combating strong enemies, he was exceptionally promoted to senior officer, his monthly salary along with benefits and allowances reaching around 10 gold pounds.
Such wages were quite substantial even in affluent Lande City.
Secondly, his Spiritual Energy level broke through Third Ring!
Blood Moon is a significant threat to ordinary people, but Ronan found a shortcut to rapidly enhance his Spiritual Energy levels.
Additionally, two of the outlaws he killed that night were confird as fugitives.
Ronan thus earned a bounty of 145 gold pounds!
As a senior officer, he qualified to learn higher-tier swordsmanship and body-strengthening techniques.
However, these held little interest for Ronan.
He was more intrigued by the Dharma Techniques in this world that break limits and ascend transcendent tiers.
Unfortunately, such secret techniques were either passed down within families, given through master-disciple relationships, or require imnse rit rewards to be obtained through official channels.
Ronan had not yet reached those requirents.
But he’s in no hurry; he continues to arrive at the station on ti, then patrolling the streets, and returning to his apartnt to rest after work.
As for that seaside villa, Ronan doesn’t intend to move in until his Spiritual Energy reaches the Fourth Ring level.
However, this peaceful life soon got disrupted!
One day, upon arriving at the police station, he saw a familiar face.
Abert Austin, Captain of the Night Watchn!
Ronan felt surprised at the appearance of this Transcendent—this person ca looking for him.
And Abert Austin’s purpose for seeking out Ronan was even more shocking; this Night Watchn Captain unexpectedly invited him to participate in the operation against the dark forces in the sewers!
A recent investigation by the Night Watch Brigade and central bureau into the police station’s attack confird the attackers were mainly mbers of the Blackbeard Pirate Group.
Also involving so hired muscle from Lande City’s underground forces.
The Blackbeard Pirate Group is one of the most troubleso pirate groups across many coastal kingdoms and principalities, with mbers numbering in thousands, possessing nurous warships, being comparable in overall strength to the Invia Royal Navy.
The Kingdom of Invia and the Blackbeard Pirate Group have longstanding grievances, with unresolved hate between both sides!
