"Battle..."

"Fight with !"

Gongsun Miao Tong bit her lip and looked toward the fellow disciple who had just saved her. Then, following a scream not far away, she sprang into action and dashed over. The other disciple hurried to follow!

They both knew full well that they had to unite. Only together did they have a slim chance of survival!

Ti trickled by, and Gongsun Miao Tong had gathered a team of several dozen people. The condition of this team was also dire. Everyone was drenched in blood—an utterly tragic sight. There was even a man with only one arm. He had simply wrapped a cloth strip around his severed limb and followed the team with a sword in his single hand, slaying the corpse soldiers that erged from the ground.

The combat strength of these corpse soldiers varied. So required their combined efforts to kill, often at a great cost. With every corpse soldier they encountered, another sliver of despair grew in their hearts, and they feared they wouldn’t hold out much longer...

"Senior Brother Feng is incredible!"

"Senior Brother Feng is so handso! I love you!"

"Senior Brother Feng is truly the number one prodigy of Immortal Mountain!"

However, the situation on Su Xuan’s side was completely different from Gongsun Miao Tong’s. Su Xuan also had a team, but it wasn’t one he had actively gathered. Instead, it was ford by people who chose to follow him after he saved them.

Everyone who joined Su Xuan’s team seed remarkably relaxed. They didn’t need to lift a finger to kill the corpse soldiers. Wherever Su Xuan passed, a casual wave of his hand was all it took for the corpse soldiers to explode with a series of loud bangs, utterly obliterated.

All they could do was shower Su Xuan with flattery.

After a while, Su Xuan’s team had grown to nearly a hundred people, regaining a formidable montum.

"Old Sect Master! Old Sect Master!"

"Sothing’s happened! Sothing terrible has happened!"

Outside the great pit, the Grand Elder, seeing that the barrier remained unbroken after so long, had anxiously spurred his mount back to the sect. He rushed to knock on the door of the Immortal Mountain Sect Master, Liu Yangshu. He wanted to ask this old sect master, who had successfully survived his life-threatening decline, to devise a solution.

But sothing unexpected happened.

Liu Yangshu was gone.

He wasn’t in his room, and despite searching every corner of the sect, the Grand Elder couldn’t find a trace of him. Where on earth had the old sect master gone?

***

In an unknown region of the great pit, an aged figure sat cross-legged, surrounded by swirling black mist.

Before him stood a black mirror, which also emanated a black miasma. Scenes of carnage from all over the pit flickered across its surface, and a smile never left the corners of his mouth.

He was the old Sect Master of Immortal Mountain, Liu Yangshu.

Of course, one could also say he was the Lord of Hua Shui City, Ning Zhendao.

Or perhaps he was... soone else entirely.

"As the Gatekeeper, I have waited for far, far too long," the impostor sect master muttered to himself excitedly. "Waiting for the gate to that place to open... My family will finally be saved..."

Even if soone had been standing right beside him, they likely wouldn’t have understood what he was saying. What gatekeeper? What gate is he trying to open? How would that save his family? And who is his family?

"Eh?"

Suddenly, he seed to see sothing alarming on the black mirror, and his mouth fell open.

"Your combat strength is quite impressive, I see! It seems I’ll have to increase the pressure a bit. The blood of you Longevity Realm cultivators is the key to the gate! Let more of it flow! Let more of it flow!"

The old man pressed his hand onto the black mirror.

An energy ripple instantly spread out as the surrounding black fog churned. The entire pit shook violently.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The ground within the pit suddenly cracked open in many places. From the fissures burst beasts covered in long fur, which charged out and swallowed anyone they saw. A disciple of Immortal Mountain, who had been searching for a group, was caught off guard and pounced on by one of the beasts, becoming its al. He didn’t even have ti to scream before he died.

If this scene were witnessed by the outside world, it would surely cause a panic. A Longevity Realm Expert was devoured just like that?

"Senior Sister Miaotong, be careful! There’s sothing ahead!"

The focus shifted back to Gongsun Miao Tong. Just as she and her group finished slaying a few corpse soldiers and were about to rest, the trees ahead began to topple to either side. The ground rumbled and shook, as if so massive creature was charging their way. The sheer disturbance it caused was terrifying.

"Prepare for battle!" Gongsun Miao Tong held her longsword before her and swallowed two pills to replenish her spiritual energy. The other cultivators, grim-faced, ford a line beside her, bracing for a desperate fight.

The next second, a visually shocking, pig-like monster with ferocious tusks lunged at them.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Everyone imdiately launched their attacks. So used long-range arts, so threw powerful talismans, and others charged in for close combat. The scene instantly erupted with intensity. But the pig monster’s hide was incredibly thick. Not only was it unhard, but in the blink of an eye, it tore a gap through Gongsun Miao Tong’s team.

A bloody gap.

One disciple was sent flying by the ferocious pig monster, bleeding from all seven orifices, their life hanging in the balance.

WHOOSH!

Gongsun Miao Tong managed to strike the pig monster with her sword but was thrown back by an overpowering force. Blood oozed from her palm, and she could barely hold her sword.

Then, sothing that made her heart sink happened. After its initial charge, the pig monster turned back, preparing to crush her team once again.

"This is outrageous!"

Gongsun Miao Tong nearly bit her lip until it bled. She tightened her grip on her longsword, leaped into the air, and slashed at the pig monster’s head with all her might.

SWISH!

She struck its head, carving a gash into its skull, but the monster seed to feel nothing as it slamd into her, sending her flying.

CRASH!

Gongsun Miao Tong landed heavily, kneeling on one knee and using her sword to prop herself up. She raised her bloodstained face and gazed at the pig monster as it turned back toward her, its eyes filled with vengeance.

Despair clouded her heart.

This ti, she was truly in despair. Her team was severely wounded and powerless to save her.

Is this how I die? There are so many things I still wanted to do... and I never even got that shoe back! I really don’t want to die!

"Boss, there’s so big prey up ahead!"

"Boss, it looks like a pig!"

"That thing won’t even get stuck in your teeth, right?"

Gongsun Miao Tong blinked, hearing a bizarre discussion. What ’Boss’? What ’get stuck in your teeth’? They sound awfully arrogant!

Before she could think any further, a figure appeared in front of her. He exuded the aura of the Late-stage Great Perfection of the Longevity Realm. His robes fluttered as he faced the wildly charging boar, casually lifting his right hand and pressing it forward.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The unstoppable, gigantic pig monster froze in place. A series of seven muffled rumbles echoed from within its body.

Then, its head crashed to the ground. It was dead.

Seeing this domineering and astonishing scene, Gongsun Miao Tong and the surviving mbers of her team were left utterly dumbfounded.

Among their peers from Immortal Mountain, there was such a ruthless expert? Who is he?

The man turned to face her with a grin. He held a very familiar-looking object in his hand, extending it toward Gongsun Miao Tong. Looking down at the kneeling girl, he said, "Miss Miao Tong. I’ve co to return your shoe."

Gazing at the shoe in his hand, Gongsun Miao Tong burst into uncontrollable tears...
