"Is there no way to gather here?"
Su Xuan strolled through the valley for over ten minutes but hadn’t seen a single soul. The valley was simply too vast and shrouded everywhere by dense foliage. Finding a person here would be difficult, let alone an elephant.
"Never mind gathering. I’ll go straight for the Blood Immortal Vine."
Su Xuan imdiately abandoned the idea of regrouping and began to focus his attention on the surrounding environnt, hoping to find the Blood Immortal Vine. He truly didn’t need to et up with anyone. His cultivation was impressively at the Longevity Realm, and his physical body had reached the sa level. He could basically walk sideways through the Valley of Thousand Snakes without encountering a match!
Besides, he wasn’t concerned about the youngster Min Chun, nor about that conveniently acquired younger cousin. After all, his current identity was a fake.
"Oh, I almost forgot."
Su Xuan suddenly stopped and took sothing out of his scent bag space. It was the jade pendant he had snatched from Zhu Hongyun the night before, the so-called Treasure-Seeking Pendant. He wondered if it would co in handy here.
He grabbed the string of the jade pendant, letting it dangle in the air, but nothing unusual happened. He continued on, holding the pendant. After a while, sothing interesting finally happened.
HUM!
The pendant trembled slightly and then began to sway back and forth on its own, despite there being no breeze. It was swaying insistently in one particular direction. It was as if it were telling Su Xuan that sothing good lay that way!
"I hope you don’t disappoint ."
Following the pendant’s guidance, Su Xuan weaved through the dense foliage of the valley for about five or six minutes before arriving at the base of a large tree. The tree was bent and twisted like an old man who couldn’t straighten his back. Its branches were covered entirely in red leaves, devoid of any other color, a sight that made its extraordinariness imdiately apparent!
Even more eye-catching was a cluster of purple fruits at the very top of the tree. They were shaped like apples, but their spotted skin resembled that of pears. Although Su Xuan hadn’t climbed up to pick the fruits, he could already sll the exotic fragrance wafting from them!
Even though he was neither hungry nor thirsty, the scent alone was enough to make him feel an uncontrollable craving.
A strong desire rose from the depths of his heart. He had to pluck those fruits and eat them!
HISS!
But the tree was teeming with snakes, easily a hundred or more tangled among its branches. If soone were afraid of snakes, they’d faint or vomit at the re sight! Even soone as brave and skilled as Su Xuan felt a flicker of unease at the sight of these diverse and venomous snakes.
"Excuse ! Make way!"
"Let through, please!"
Unperturbed by the snakes, Su Xuan raised his hand to conjure a ball of Undying Earth Fire before carefully starting to climb the tree. The mont he started climbing, the snakes sensed an intrusion into their territory and attacked him en masse!
BOOM!
With a simple raise of his hand, Su Xuan turned the attacking snakes into charred sticks. A scent of roasted snake began to perate the air.
By the ti Su Xuan reached the top of the tree, there wasn’t a single snake left on it. It wasn’t that he had burned them all; it was that the "cruelty" he displayed had frightened them into readily ceding their territory.
CRACK!
Su Xuan reached out and plucked the cluster of purple fruits. There were three in total. He placed two of them into his scent bag space and, after rubbing the last one against his clothes, took a crunchy bite!
Sweet, cool juice filled his mouth. It felt as though his entire digestive system was being soothed by ice cubes—what a blissful feeling!
Su Xuan couldn’t help but think that with such an exquisite taste, if he sold them as apples in the world below the mountain, they could fetch the heavenly price of over ten thousand yuan per kilogram! It really was the most delicious fruit he had ever eaten!
After finishing the fruit, Su Xuan leaped down from the tree.
A ray of sunlight penetrated the gaps between the leaves, landing on his hair and his face... His hair was lustrous, and the skin on his face was so delicate that it would make won envious.
But since he hadn’t looked in a mirror, he didn’t realize his appearance had changed after eating the unnad fruit. He had beco even more handso, though he rely felt so reinvigorated that he could go without sleep for half a year.
"What a great item!" Su Xuan couldn’t help but exclaim.
On one hand, he marveled at how delicious the fruit was, though it was a pity there were only three. On the other hand, he was amazed by how useful the Treasure-Seeking Pendant was. With this pendant, he was sure to return from the trial loaded with rewards!
"Let’s keep looking!"
Holding the Treasure-Seeking Pendant, Su Xuan set off again. After a while, the pendant reacted once more, pointing him in a new direction. He imdiately shot off in that direction.
But when he arrived, disappointnt was clear on his face.
It was a hill several tens of ters high, with a sword emitting a dazzling light plunged into its summit. Unfortunately, soone had already reached the top and was reaching for the sword. No matter how fast he was, Su Xuan couldn’t beat them to it.
CLANG!
Su Xuan could only watch helplessly as the person pulled the sword out. But to his surprise, it was only half a sword—a broken one!
"Good thing I didn’t go up there, otherwise it would have been a wasted effort," Su Xuan muttered to himself in relief and turned to leave.
But then he stopped in his tracks.
If it were an ordinary broken sword, why would the Treasure-Seeking Pendant have guided here?
With this thought, Su Xuan guessed there had to be sothing extraordinary about the broken sword and turned his gaze back to the hilltop.
The person who had acquired the sword also seed to want to see what was special about it. He sat cross-legged on the summit, laying the sword across his knees. Then he bit the tip of his finger, sared blood on the blade, and began muttering sothing.
Su Xuan knew he was performing a ritual to claim ownership. Afterward, he would be able to communicate with the broken sword telepathically and easily discover its marvelous functions.
"HAHAHA!"
After claiming it, the man suddenly laughed with satisfaction, having apparently discovered so impressive function of the broken sword. Yet he didn’t demonstrate the sword’s power right away. Instead, he turned his sharp gaze toward Su Xuan!
"You there, fellow Daoist!" the man called down from above. "You’ve been watching for quite a while now. What is it? Do you want to rob of my precious sword?"
"No."
Su Xuan turned to leave. He was rely curious whether the sword was a real treasure, but he had no great interest in it. Could it possibly be better than his Ruyi Staff?
"Trying to leave?"
However, the man on the hilltop had no intention of letting Su Xuan go. He leaped down from the summit, landing beside Su Xuan, and said coldly, "I’ll give you a choice. Either leave all your valuables behind, or leave your life behind!"
"Are you sure you want to rob ?" Su Xuan frowned.
"Of course I’m sure," the man frowned back. "Don’t you know we can rob each other of treasures in this trial? Even killing soone is fine! Besides, the losing party isn’t allowed to seek revenge later. If they try, the Yu Xian Sect will intervene and stop them!"
Su Xuan scratched his head, licked his lips, and asked the man, "So, I can rob you, too?"
