Not only was Edward stunned, but so was his father, Buffett. They had no idea why Su Xuan would ask such a question.
But Buffett was a shrewd man and quickly realized there might be a problem. A wrong answer could cost him a lucrative investnt opportunity. FedEx was developing rapidly; it didn’t lack for investors and certainly didn’t need his in particular.
From what I know, Alice has spent ti in China. Perhaps she has so special relationship with Su Xuan!
"No, no," Buffett answered for his son. "They’re just ordinary friends. They’ve never even been on a date."
"Is that so?" Su Xuan kept his gaze on Edward.
"Uh... yes, yes!" Edward nodded. "I’m just a friend of Alice’s, a very ordinary one."
He chickened out, too.
My father tasked with handling this investnt to pave my way to taking over the family business. If I fail to secure it, the impact on will be significant. Everyone in my family knows about this, and they’re all watching —even the dia.
"What a pity." Su Xuan shook his head, feigning disappointnt. "When I ca from China this ti, besides bringing Chinese resources to FedEx, I also wanted to establish a cooperative relationship with the Richard family. I heard Richard has already stepped back and that his daughter has taken his place, but... I can’t even get a eting with her." He finished with a shrug.
"Oh!" Buffett’s mouth hung open. "So that’s what this is about!"
I was worrying for nothing.
Buffett glanced at his son.
Catching the hint, Edward quickly changed his tune. "Actually, my feelings for Alice go beyond friendship. I’ve been pursuing her, and she’s aware of my intentions. I’m sure she won’t refuse if I dare to confess."
"Is that really true?" Su Xuan asked, a small smile playing on his lips.
"It’s true!" Edward’s eyes sparkled. "I can introduce you to Alice."
"Excellent," Su Xuan smiled slyly. "And I can arrange the investnt details for you."
"It’s a deal, then!"
Edward took out his phone to call Alice, but after several attempts, he couldn’t get through. Su Xuan didn’t seem surprised, as if he had already anticipated this outco.
"How about this!" Edward put his phone down and thought for a mont. "I know Alice has a eting at the Paradise Hotel tonight. We can wait for her outside!"
"Fine." Su Xuan nodded.
It worked! he thought with an internal laugh.
About half an hour into the al, Buffett made an excuse and left the table. He wanted to give his son a chance to bond with Su Xuan, having noticed the two hitting it off. They had even started talking about how to pick up won—a topic an old man like him was better off avoiding.
After the dinner was over, while Edward was settling the bill, Wilbur asked Su Xuan, "Boss, do you still need to arrange a car to the Richard residence?"
"No need," Su Xuan said with a wave of his hand. "You can go ho and get so rest."
"Alright then!"
Wilbur’s mind was filled with endless questions, but he knew it wasn’t his place to probe further. So he left on his own.
"Su, bro!" a drunken Edward slurred, sidling up to Su Xuan after paying the bill. He was already acting as if they were the best of friends. "Should we head to the Paradise Hotel and find Alice now?"
"Sure," Su Xuan nodded with a smile.
The two of them left the restaurant together and got into Edward’s luxury car.
For so reason, Su Xuan glanced at the rearview mirror as they drove away...
Following behind Edward’s car was a plain-looking Audi. The person in the passenger seat was on the phone.
"Mr. Richard, that kid has gotten involved with soone from the Buffett family."

"Understood. I will complete the task you’ve assigned." After a few more words, the man hung up. He then dialed another number and said two words in a deep voice: "Move out!"
"That’s impossible!"
"How could this be?"
"My information can’t be wrong!"
When they arrived at the Paradise Hotel, Edward was dumbfounded. Alice hadn’t co to the eting at all. In fact, she hadn’t attended any etings since yesterday.
Edward tapped on his phone, opening a notes app. It was filled with a ticulously detailed record of Alice’s schedule, a testant to the effort he was putting into pursuing her.
"Can you go see her directly at her house?" Su Xuan suggested. "She’s very likely at ho."
"No problem," Edward said, tilting his head back confidently. "To get more information on her, I bribed her family’s butler!"
But then he hesitated. "But isn’t it inappropriate to go to her house this late? It’s too sudden. Won’t she be angry?"
"Edward, my friend," Su Xuan said, clapping him on the shoulder. "In China, we have a saying about chasing girls. You need three things: a glib tongue, relentless persistence, and a thick skin. How can you possibly succeed without them?"
"A glib tongue, relentless persistence, and a thick skin?" Edward muttered the phrase to himself, his eyes growing brighter with understanding.
"Su, hold on, let make another call."
Edward imdiately took out his phone and called the butler at Alice’s residence. He first asked if Alice was ho. After confirming that she was, he told the butler to make arrangents for him to co over right away.
Alice, just wait. I’m on my way... Su Xuan thought to himself as soon as he heard she was ho.
He was almost certain now: Richard had restricted Alice’s freedom to prevent her from seeing him!
Next, Edward drove Su Xuan toward Alice’s ho, completely unaware that he had beco a pawn in soone else’s ga.
"Su, you should never co to this street alone." Edward had taken a shortcut down a street whose walls were covered in graffiti. "This street is very unsafe. A lot of shady deals go on here, and robberies are common. But don’t worry, no one will dare to ss with us. This car is worth almost ten million US dollars. Any criminal would take one look and stay far away... Oh, Su, what kind of car do you drive?"
"Nothing as nice as this," Su Xuan said modestly, despite owning a supercar worth over a hundred million yuan.
"Haha, Su, you’re too modest," Edward laughed. "I heard there’s a custom Koenigsegg in China. Is that yours? Only a car like that is worthy of you."
"Heh," Su Xuan chuckled. "I’m starting to think you’ve been to my house."
"What?" Edward exclaid in surprise. "It really is yours! Then I have to co visit soti and see it with my own eyes—"
CRASH!
Before he could finish, an Audi suddenly shot out from an intersection up ahead, slamming into Edward’s car.
Su Xuan muttered, "Here we go again..."
