Forget it. I won’t think about it anymore.

Besides, that girl in red doesn’t seem to have any malicious intent toward .

Su Xuan really couldn’t figure out the deal with the red-clad figure, so he decided to stop pondering it. After all, as soone who possessed a system, his own existence was an extraordinary phenonon that defied common sense. He even decided to treat the figure in red as a perk from the system. Her smile was truly beautiful, and she had thoughtfully pointed out the people who were there to make trouble for him.

He had a great ti tonight and quickly drifted off to sleep.

Around two in the morning, a dark cloud descended from the night sky, and raindrops began to sparsely dot the ground. Two figures quietly appeared outside the gates of Su Xuan’s Mansion.

Both figures were dressed in black robes embroidered with strange patterns, making them look like a pair of cosplay enthusiasts. If Zhai Defeng were here, he would have been delighted to see these two. They were, in fact, his martial brothers from the sa sect.

The younger one was nad Wei Haojie.

The older one was nad Zhao Ling.

"Senior Brother Zhao, this was Senior Brother Zhai’s last stop," Junior Brother Wei Haojie said, pointing at the mansion’s gate. His voice was laced with self-reproach as he spoke to his senior, Zhao Ling. "I really shouldn’t have let Senior Brother Zhai co here for revenge on his own. If I hadn’t, he wouldn’t have had his brain scrambled by that kid, Su Xuan."

Zhai Defeng’s brain was indeed damaged, leaving him in a vegetative state. However, it wasn’t Su Xuan who did it, but Big White, who had slapped him on the back of the head from behind.

"You can’t bla yourself," Senior Brother Zhao Ling said, waving his hand dismissively. "No one could have predicted that a Sorcerer in black would fall at the hands of an ordinary person."

"Senior Brother Zhao, you can’t possibly consider this an ordinary family, can you?" Wei Haojie, who was only in his late twenties, strongly disagreed. Su Xuan’s mansion was even larger than their Sect Leader’s residence. How could it be called ordinary?

"I didn’t say the house was ordinary. This place is worth hundreds of millions, at least. If soone gave it to , I’d even be willing to betray the sect!" Zhao Ling exclaid. "I ant the people living here are ordinary. Common folk. Understand?"

"No, I don’t." Wei Haojie shook his head. "Anyone who can afford this house must also be far from ordinary."

"Damn it!" Zhao Ling couldn’t help but curse. "Junior Brother Wei, are you an idiot?"

Wei Haojie shook his head seriously. "No. If I were an idiot, I never would have beco a Sorcerer feared by all."

"My god!" Zhao Ling’s mouth twitched. "I’m saying that compared to us, the guy surnad Su is just an ordinary person! Do you get it? A Sorcerer falling at the hands of a commoner is an unexpected event. Understand now?"

"Yes, I get it, I get it," Wei Haojie nodded quickly, then asked, "Senior Brother Zhao, would you really betray the sect for a house like this? That’s a grave offense!"

"I..." Zhao Ling waved his hand in frustration. "It was just a figure of speech! I didn’t an I’d actually betray the sect!"

"Senior Brother Zhao, I’m sorry!" Wei Haojie suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. "I shouldn’t have doubted your loyalty to our sect."

"Forget it, forget it." Zhao Ling looked up at the mansion’s gate. "Let’s hurry up and avenge De Feng!"

"Right!" Wei Haojie nodded. "So, Senior Brother, do we bust down the door and charge in, or do we hop the wall and kill him quietly?"

"Junior Brother Wei, your real-world experience is far too shallow!" Zhao Ling patted Wei Haojie on the shoulder. "Have you never heard of surveillance caras?"

"Of course I have," Wei Haojie replied. "I also know that so people with ulterior motives install them in hotel rooms to film couples doing illicit things, then sell the videos for money. I’ve even seen a few of those clips myself!"

Zhao Ling blinked. "Oh? You have videos like that?"

"Look, Senior Brother Zhao!" Wei Haojie pulled out his phone and played a video.

Zhao Ling leaned in for a closer look and couldn’t help but let out a "TSK TSK" of appreciation.

Then, the two martial brothers squatted on the ground and watched. About fifteen minutes later, they finally looked up, their faces glowing with satisfaction.

Zhao Ling sighed wistfully. "Ah, young people these days really know how to have fun. There are so many moves I’ve never seen before. I feel like I’m really getting old and falling behind the tis. My knowledge is still stuck in the golden age of that Teacher Cang."

"Don’t be discouraged, Senior Brother," Wei Haojie said. "You’re never too old to learn. I’m sure you’ll catch up."

Zhao Ling nodded. "Once we’re done with our business, let’s go study so new techniques and get so firsthand experience!"

"Senior Brother Zhao, you know where we can get that kind of firsthand experience?"

"On the way here, I think I saw a unique little shop in an alley," Zhao Ling said. "The door was glass, the light inside was orange, and there was a... ahem... very pretty girl sitting inside."

"I think I saw that too! And I think I heard her say, ’Co on in and have a seat, fellas! It’s so hot outside!’"

"What a kind girl!" Zhao Ling exclaid.

"Right?" Wei Haojie agreed.

"We’ll pay her a visit after we’re done here."

"Sounds great!"

Then, adopting a serious expression, Zhao Ling returned to their previous topic. "Junior Brother, a mansion this big is bound to be covered in surveillance caras. It would be inappropriate to just barge in and start killing. We have to be discreet."

"What’s your plan, Senior Brother? I’ll follow your lead!"

Zhao Ling’s voice turned chilling. "That Su fellow damaged De Feng’s brain. Let’s give him a taste of what it’s like to have his own brain ruined!"

"Senior Brother, are you thinking of using the Bug Puppet technique?" Wei Haojie asked, shocked.

"Yes!" Zhao Ling nodded. With a flick of his wrist, he produced a black bottle. "We’ll use a Gu-bug to devour his brain and turn him into a Bug Puppet that obeys our every command!"

A Bug Puppet, as the na implied, was a puppet controlled by an insect. Once the bug consud Su Xuan’s brain, he would beco a mindless, obedient slave. It was an utterly malicious technique.

"But Senior Brother!" Wei Haojie protested. "The Bug Puppet technique is powerful, but Gu-bugs are incredibly difficult to create. If we were to lose it, the loss would far outweigh the gain!"

Refining a Gu-bug required a trendous cost. The thod involved placing countless lethally venomous creatures into a sealed container and letting them fight to the death. The sole survivor was crowned the Gu-bug. But even that didn’t guarantee success. The surviving creature still had to be made obedient. If it wouldn’t listen, all the effort was for nothing.

In the world of Sorcerers, a single Gu-bug was far more valuable than a human life. Wei Haojie himself had spent two years painstakingly trying to refine a Gu-bug, but all his efforts had ended in failure.

"Don’t worry," Zhao Ling said with absolute confidence. "My specialty is refining Gu. The Gu-bugs I create are more obedient than dogs. It won’t let down!"

With that, Zhao Ling unstopped the bottle and tossed it over the mansion’s gate.

CLINK!

The bottle landed in Su Xuan’s yard.

A pitch-black centipede with an uncountable number of legs wriggled its sinister body and crawled out of the bottle...
