"I’m asking if you have any counterasures!" Su Xuan’s tone sharpened. "Is Raef’s R&D capability so weak that we can’t develop a better drug?"
"Boss, it’s not that simple," Dou Jianhua said timidly. "I’ve been in etings with the R&D experts all night, and they’re still at a complete loss!"
The drug from Bai Wei Pharmaceuticals is called the Jinyang Qiang Shen Pill. Raef was defeated by this very dicine.
"Then you continue your research," Su Xuan said. "I’ll try to think of a solution as well."
"Okay, Boss."
Dou Jianhua imdiately hung up. But he didn’t really believe Su Xuan could co up with a solution. Su Xuan wasn’t even trained in dical research, so what could he possibly do?
"Everyone, keep at it!"
In Raef’s conference room, Dou Jianhua ordered the group of experts, "If we can’t develop a drug better than the Jinyang Qiang Shen Pill, don’t even think about going ho!"
Most of these experts were elderly specialists in Chinese dicine. They sat there in painful contemplation; one was constantly scratching his head, another endlessly wiping his glasses, and another was chain-smoking, all trying to figure out how to quickly develop a drug to defeat the Jinyang Qiang Shen Pill.
"Sigh!"
Dou Jianhua looked at these old comrades who had repeatedly produced miracles for Raef Pharmaceuticals, feeling a pang of sympathy. But he had no choice. The business world was a battlefield, and they couldn’t just do nothing. Bai Wei had already taken a huge bite out of Raef, a direct loss of eighteen billion!
The Qiang Shen Pill... for strengthening the kidneys...
Su Xuan parked his car on the side of the road, muttering to himself. He subconsciously touched his lower back as a vision involuntarily appeared in his mind.
Last night, he had experienced a hallucination due to Zhai Defeng’s sorcery. In his own yard, he saw a young apparition in ancient robes who seed to be in poor health, pounding on his own lower back.
Could he be suffering from kidney deficiency? Su Xuan’s eyes lit up. If that apparition was suffering from kidney deficiency, then the prescription he was holding must be for treating exactly that, which ant it was for strengthening the kidneys!
But at the ti, the writing on the prescription had been too blurry for him to see clearly; he had only hazily discerned the nas of a few herbs. Yet, if he could copy down that entire prescription and give it to Raef’s R&D team, then...
I have to go ho!
Su Xuan started the car and headed for his mansion on Houhai Street, a peculiar expression on his face the entire ti. Because what he was doing now was truly bizarre: attempting to solve a real-life problem with a hallucination.
Could it work? Could it possibly work?
Soon, Su Xuan returned ho.
HISS!
The mont he arrived, he stood in the yard, took out the small porcelain bottle, and inhaled deeply from it. Then he squinted and looked toward the edge of the pool.
But to his disappointnt, the young apparition wasn’t there.
Last ti, he was sitting right there by the pool, looking at a prescription!
Su Xuan guessed the young apparition might be sowhere else, perhaps in one of the rooms. He imdiately started searching each room, finally spotting the young apparition in the study.
The apparition was sitting at the desk, writing sothing. Now, his back was straight, and he looked invigorated. His lower back no longer seed to trouble him; he was no longer suffering from kidney deficiency. He must have already taken the dicine from the prescription!
"Buddy, where’s your prescription?" Su Xuan walked over to the desk and said to the young apparition, half-joking.
The apparition couldn’t hear him and paid him no mind.
So, Su Xuan searched the desk himself and quickly found the sa prescription from last ti. But just like before, the writing was blurry, making it impossible to see clearly.
I must not have inhaled enough, Su Xuan thought. He opened the small bottle again and started taking deep breaths. He inhaled again and again until his head began to throb. Only then did the characters on the prescription beco perfectly clear, every single stroke distinct.
CLICK!
Su Xuan hurriedly grabbed his phone and took a picture of the prescription, but he imdiately gave a wry laugh. How could a phone possibly capture my own hallucination? He quickly took out his hundred-million-dollar pen and began to copy the formula.
Rou Congrong, Ba Ji Tian, Gouji, Bu Gu Zhi, Raspberry...
He didn’t notice, however, that as he was copying the prescription, the young apparition seed to lift its head. Its gaze fell upon the pen in his hand—or more precisely, upon the diamond embedded in it. It was as if that diamond had established a subtle connection between the hallucination and reality.
PHEW!
After copying the prescription, Su Xuan let out a long breath and rubbed his temples. Just like last ti, his head ached afterward.
"Goodbye, my friend. If this prescription works, I’ll be sure to thank you!" Su Xuan said to the apparition before hastily running out.
After he left, the young apparition began to slowly dissipate. As it faded away, it looked in the direction Su Xuan had gone and murmured, "Who... are you?"
「anwhile.」
In the conference room of Raef Pharmaceuticals.
"What’s wrong with all of you?" Dou Jianhua stared at the research experts, his face flushed with anger. "Is Raef not providing you enough R&D funding? Or do you just not want to work here anymore? You’re always boasting about how brilliant you are. Why is everyone so quiet today? Say sothing!"
"Director Dou, you know that developing a new drug isn’t an overnight task," an old, wrinkled expert said, extinguishing his cigarette. "Please, just give us a little more ti. Three days, tops. In three days, we will definitely develop a drug more potent than the Jinyang Qiang Shen Pill. We won’t let you down!"
"I can give you ti, but who’s going to give ti?" Dou Jianhua threw his hands up in exasperation. "Mr. Su has already personally asked about this. He’s Raef’s largest shareholder, with a 56% stake! The drop in stock price has already cost him ten billion! Are you going to make that money back for him?"
"This..." The old expert’s lips twitched as he lit another cigarette.
"So put your damn heads together and think of sothing!" Dou Jianhua snapped, pacing back and forth.
CREAK!
Just then, the door swung open and soone walked in.
Dou Jianhua looked up and his expression imdiately changed to a smile. He hurried over and said, a little sheepishly, "Boss, we’ve already made so headway. You don’t need to worry..."
"Old Dou, I pulled so strings and got a prescription. Have the experts take a look and see if it can help." Su Xuan lied, handing the paper he had copied to Dou Jianhua.
He was eager to see if the prescription was just his own hallucination or if it was real and actually effective.
"Everyone, quickly, take a look at this!" Dou Jianhua imdiately placed the prescription on the table, ushering the experts over to study it.
After just a mont, three or four of the old experts looked up in astonishnt. They exchanged a glance before exclaiming:
"Brilliant!"
"This is absolutely brilliant!"
