Governor Li has a fairly good understanding of the chip industry landscape.
In the dostic chip industry, the 14-nanoter process chips are quite mature and the relevant technology can be mastered independently. However, even though Guoxing Technology Group can easily produce 7-nanoter process chips, due to technological and other reasons, their 7-nanoter chips are not entirely "made in China".
Not to ntion the 5-nanoter chips.
Even if Guoxing Technology Group could produce 5-nanoter chips, they don’t possess the necessary equipnt, which is all subject to foreign control.
As for foreign semiconductor technology companies, such as those in Arica and Europe, their 7-nanoter chip technology has already been perfected, and 5-nanoter chips have been successively comrcialized, so are even in the research and developnt stage for 3-nanoter chips.
In this regard, it can be said that foreign countries are not just a whole gap ahead of dostic capabilities, but even more so, especially since there are still many unresolved issues in the dostic chip industry, particularly with our own lithography machine technology.
"No, no, no."
Ding Yue imdiately shook his head and smilingly said to Governor Li: "Governor Li, as early as last year, we had already cooperated with Guoxing Technology Group. Our team at Mist City Arts and Science University will work with Guoxing Technology Group to produce the lithography machines and etching machine equipnt required for 14-nanoter and 7-nanoter chips, although it has not yet achieved a certain scale."
"That’s incredible?"
Upon hearing this, Governor Li was sowhat amazed.
How difficult the chip field is Governor Li knows better than anyone. Could it be possible that the research at Mist City Arts and Science University in this area is so advanced already?
"It is expected that by the end of this year, our Xia Country will be able to independently master the advanced equipnt such as mature 7-nanoter process lithography machines as well as the independent research and developnt of chips."
Ding Yue confidently told Governor Li.
Here, Ding Yue spoke of our Xia Country, not just Mist City Arts and Science University or the Feiyue Group, aning clearly that once Mist City Arts and Science University develops the lithography machine, the stranglehold on Xia Country’s chip industry will vanish at once, and Xia Country will finally stand tall in the chip industry.
"Principal Ding, your Mist City Arts and Science University has put so much effort into lithography machines and chips; this is unexpected. It’s really the pride of Mist City to have such local enterprises dedicated to the developnt of the chip industry," Governor Li said with emotion.
Having such an enterprise in Mist City under his jurisdiction indeed made Governor Li very proud.
"So, Principal Ding, does Mist City Arts and Science University now nearly possess mature 7-nanoter process chip technology?" asked Director Xiao Wenxing on the side with emotion.
"Not exactly."
At this mont, Ding Yue shook his head.
"What?"
Director Xiao Wenxing was stunned. He had thought that Mist City Arts and Science University had nearly mastered the 7-nanoter process chip technology, but now Principal Ding had denied it all of a sudden.
"7-nanoter process lithography and chip technology is not considered leading in the world. What we are aiming for this ti is to overtake on the curve!" Ding Yue said with a calm smile, looking towards both Director Xiao Wenxing and Governor Li.
"Overtake on the curve?"
Director Xiao Wenxing’s eyes widened in surprise and said, "Principal Ding, we don’t boast unnecessarily here. Don’t you know that the foreign semiconductor enterprises have already comrcialized 5-nanoter chips, and so are even researching 3-nanoter chips?"
"I am aware."
Ding Yue nodded slightly and continued, "This ti, we have gathered all our strength and expect to overco the current technical difficulties by the end of September or early October at the latest, achieving technological freedom with the 5-nanoter chip."
"Really?"
Governor Li, upon hearing this, could hardly believe it.
If dostically developed chips could achieve the 5-nanoter level, it would an catching up with, even surpassing, foreign countries because Xia Country will have achieved technological independence in 5-nanoter chip production all by itself, whereas the overseas countries achieved this through joint efforts.
"Technological freedom" for 5-nanoter chips ans dominating every aspect in the field, whether it’s chip raw materials or technologies such as lithography, etching machines, as well as chip research and manufacturing — all in our own hands, without being subject to external control.
Director Xiao Wenxing was also extrely shocked.
If Mist City Arts and Science University could indeed achieve the chip breakthrough as Principal Ding said this year, it would be truly inspiring, stirring the hearts and spirits of all of Xia Country.
"Our research team at Mist City Arts and Science University has said so. Governor Li, Director Xiao, shall we wait and see?" Ding Yue was not outright conclusive in his claims but invited Governor Li and Director Xiao to wait and see for themselves.
After all, Ding Yue was actually confident in his heart, fairly certain that by the end of September or the beginning of October, the lithography machine project at his Mist City Arts and Science University would truly astonish everyone.
But now, it was not appropriate to make overly definitive statents to others.
