Chapter 959: Chapter 99: I Am the Sect Leader

An Zhisu returned to her room. Her anger dissipated quickly, but a trace of lancholy lingered.

Although she appeared to be upset, beneath her irritation was a certain inexplicable unease.

If her strength didn’t improve quickly, once Junior Brother entered the Nascent Soul Realm and beca a Peak Master, coupled with the added powers of the Tai Yin Sword Master, they would surely grow further and further apart—look at Lin Duanshan, Duan Fenhai, and Guan Shanyue. As their Cultivation Realms widened, their communication had also grown increasingly sparse, hadn’t it?

I must reach the Nascent Infant stage as soon as possible…

As these thoughts passed through her mind, she heard Ling Yunpo knocking on the door from outside:

“Senior Sister, I’m coming in now.”

“Mm.” An Zhisu replied softly.

Ling Yunpo then pushed the door open and entered. Upon stepping into the room, he saw An Zhisu kneeling in front of the tea table, her head lowered in silence, her expression forlorn.

“Senior Sister, this ti it was my fault.” Ling Yunpo imdiately dropped to his knees, then sat properly across from her. Producing a wine flask, he poured a cup and apologized, “I’m here to make ands to you.”

“Junior Brother.” An Zhisu asked helplessly, “Do you think Senior Sister is that easily appeased? That all it takes is drinking with to resolve everything?”

“How could that be?” Ling Yunpo’s eyes widened instantly as he protested, “I rely believe that Senior Sister is a reasonable person. Even if I’ve done sothing wrong, as long as I apologize first, Senior Sister’s anger will surely subside, and you’ll calmly tell where I went astray.”

An Zhisu: ………

She had originally wanted to act a little unreasonable and make things difficult for her Junior Brother, but hearing him call her “Senior Sister, Senior Sister” so earnestly, she couldn’t bring herself to continue.

After a brief silence, An Zhisu eventually lowered her head and said:

“This has nothing to do with you; it’s just that I’ve been lacking effort myself.”

“How has Senior Sister been lacking?” Ling Yunpo asked, thoroughly confused.

“Junior Brother.” An Zhisu suddenly asked him, “Have you, since becoming the Tai Yin Sword Master, started to look down on your Senior Sister?”

“How could that be!” Ling Yunpo was just about to swear an oath when he heard An Zhisu ask again, “Then why haven’t you co to see lately?”

“The sect’s affairs have kept overwheld…” Ling Yunpo began, but the latter half of his sentence trailed off.

This excuse was flimsy at best. After all, no matter how busy one is, how much ti does it really take to co drink and spar with Senior Sister?

To tell the truth, it was because frequent mory resets had left him a little disoriented, and after successfully “graduating” from Long Long’s side, he had beco overly focused on acquiring the Heaven-nding Stone, inadvertently neglecting Senior Sister An in the process.

Realizing this, Ling Yunpo sighed and admitted earnestly:

“It’s not that I look down on Senior Sister; I’ve just been preoccupied with trivial matters lately and couldn’t spare the ti… tonight I’ll make ands.”

Without waiting for Senior Sister An to respond, he began pouring himself a penalty cup of wine and downed it imdiately.

Interacting with a fellow drinker has this advantage: no matter how unpleasant things might get, a few cups of wine can smooth things over better than words ever could.

“Junior Brother!” An Zhisu embraced Ling Yunpo, slurring her words, “Even if you’re the Tai Yin Sword Master… you… you can’t neglect Senior Sister, understand?”

“Of course!” Although Ling Yunpo hadn’t used True Yuan to dispel the effects of the alcohol, his training as a spy gave him far greater willpower and awareness than An Zhisu, allowing him to at least stay conscious. “Senior Sister and Junior Brother aren’t judged by Cultivation Realms, but by who entered the sect first!”

“Once a Senior Sister, always a Senior Sister. It doesn’t matter if I’m the Tai Yin Sword Master or an unknown nobody, a Nascent Soul Peak Master or just a Golden Core True Person, that won’t ever change.”

These words struck directly at An Zhisu’s soft spot, and she gleefully raised her cup for another toast, clinking glasses with Ling Yunpo in celebration.

The two drank late into the night and ended up lying on the sa bed to rest… though for cultivators, this ant ditative concentration rather than actual sleep.

The next morning, Ling Yunpo awakened from his ditation to find that An Zhisu was no longer there.

Did sothing happen last night?

“No,” the Kunlun Mirror replied. “The two of you rely held onto each other while ditating. When your Senior Sister woke up in the morning and found herself in your embrace, she blushed and fled.”

“What?” Ling Yunpo was aghast. “We… only ditated together?”

“Why do you sound almost disappointed?” the Kunlun Mirror asked, stunned.

“Ahem. I ant that it’s fortunate I remained clear-headed and didn’t commit a grave mistake while drunk,” Ling Yunpo hurriedly explained. “After all, I’ll eventually betray Shushan. I can’t risk doing anything irreparable to Senior Sister!”

Why, then, with that Jiang the Witch…? The Kunlun Mirror wisely refrained from exposing him directly and instead said:

“Let’s continue analyzing the restrictions of the Demon Locking Tower.”

A few days later, An Zhisu successfully underwent her tribulation within Shushan’s boundaries, advancing to the Nascent Soul Realm as Elder Jiao Xiao.

According to Shushan’s rules, reaching the Nascent Infant stage grants one the option to establish their own sect and beco a Peak Master, or to remain within their current sect.

Given An Zhisu’s temperant, she naturally had no interest in founding her own sect and chose instead to stay on Qingluo Peak.

Not long after, Su Jian arrived at Qingluo Peak and said to Ling Yunpo:

“I’ve decided to pass the Qingluo Peak’s inheritance on to Su’er.”

“That’s a splendid idea.” Ling Yunpo imdiately expressed his approval. “Master, you now hold the position of Sect Leader and represent Ei’s orthodox tradition. Continuing to manage the Qingluo inheritance might cause so confusion, so this arrangent clarifies everything.”

Su Jian nodded and added:

“Once you reach the Nascent Soul Realm, Ei’s inheritance will fall to you, along with the position of Shushan Sect Leader.”

“There’s no rush for that,” Ling Yunpo said with a laugh. “Master has only been Sect Leader of Shushan for less than a hundred years; it seems premature to be arranging a successor already.”

“No need to worry about that.” Su Jian waved his hand dismissively. “Who else but the Tai Yin Sword Master could beco the Shushan Sect Leader? Once you achieve Nascent Infant, I’ll pass the Sect Leader’s position to you!”

“Isn’t that a bit hasty?” Ling Yunpo asked, astonished. “If this gets out, it might damage Master’s reputation…”

“Who dares gossip behind my back?” Su Jian retorted with a cold laugh. “Don’t forget, I am the Shushan Sect Leader!”

Hearing this, Ling Yunpo finally understood.

Clearly, Su Jian was being overwheld by the daily responsibilities of the Sect Leader and couldn’t wait to pass the burden onto soone else.

But if he were to beco the Shushan Sect Leader, it would completely derail his original plans.

After all, as long as the Long Eyebrow Immortal entered the Great Bright Hall Secret Realm, Ling Yunpo could openly take up residence in the Demon Locking Tower and retrieve the Heaven-nding Stone fragnt… But if he beca the Shushan Sect Leader, he’d be constantly monitored by elders coming to consult over various matters.

This would leave him in plain sight, making it impossible to plan his escape with the fragnt.

No, I absolutely cannot beco the Sect Leader!
