Chapter 4: Madam, I’m So Cold

Even soone as strong and well-built as Linghu Chong began to tremble under the biting cold wind.

It was mainly because his injuries were too severe, and he had lost too much blood, so the cold felt unbearable.

Moreover, neither of them had recovered their inner strength.

Their condition—compared to ordinary people—was even worse.

However, neither of them spoke nor made any sound.

They simply maintained that awkward and tense atmosphere.

As ti went on—

The night grew deeper, and the valley grew colder still.

The piercing cold wind slashed across their skin like knives. The thin fabric covering them stood no chance against the bone-chilling cold.

Their bodies began to shiver uncontrollably.

What’s more, Linghu Chong was lying on the icy cold rock. He curled up from the chill, his teeth chattering, and the ‘clack clack clack’ of his teeth knocking together rang out clearly in the quiet valley full of rubble.

Ning Zhongze buried her head between her knees, her head shaking from the cold. She heard the sound of Linghu Chong’s teeth chattering.

At that mont—

“Master… Master’s wife…” Linghu Chong turned his neck with great difficulty to look at Ning Zhongze, speaking in a trembling voice.

Ning Zhongze turned her head shakily. Upon seeing Linghu Chong’s face as pale as paper, his lips purple from the cold and drained of their usual color and luster, and the muscles on his face slightly twitching, she was startled.

“I… I’m so cold!” Linghu Chong said, trembling.

“I’ll go find so firewood. Just wait a mont!”

With that, Ning Zhongze didn’t dare delay. She got up quickly to gather firewood.

Watching her graceful figure disappear, Linghu Chong felt a warmth rise in his heart.

Before long—

Ning Zhongze returned carrying a bundle of firewood.

After she set up a small campfire—

She ca over to help Linghu Chong up. “Co, let’s warm up by the fire.”

“Th-thank you, Master’s Wife…”

Linghu Chong said, still trembling. As he touched Ning Zhongze’s body, he also felt how cold she was.

Her body constitution was naturally on the colder side, so her situation wasn’t much better than his.

Even so, she still took such good care of Linghu Chong—truly a strong and capable woman.

The two leaned against the campfire and finally felt a bit warr.

But such a small fire couldn’t provide much heat on this cold and windy Mount Hua.

They still shivered violently.

“Master’s Wife…” Linghu Chong murmured at this point.

“Hmm?” Ning Zhongze gave a soft hum in response.

“Let hold you, it’ll be warr that way.”

Upon hearing that, Ning Zhongze’s proud and delicate figure trembled slightly, but she remained silent.

Seeing that she moved a little but didn’t respond, Linghu Chong wasn’t sure what she ant.

But now was a ti that required him to take initiative.

So, Linghu Chong reached out and placed both hands on Ning Zhongze’s shoulders, propping her up, then slowly shifted his body.

Turning sideways toward the fire, he gently embraced Ning Zhongze’s full and soft body into his arms.

Suddenly, Ning Zhongze reacted as if shocked by electricity. She sat up straight, a trace of panic flashing across her face.

This sudden reaction startled Linghu Chong.

“You… move back a little!” Ning Zhongze murmured softly without turning her head.

To Linghu Chong, her voice sounded panicked and uneasy, even slightly fearful.

This confused him, but he quickly understood and gave an awkward smile.

Maintaining distance—Master’s Wife really is thoughtful. Truly a righteous heroine.

Then, Linghu Chong scooted back a bit, keeping about twenty centiters between them.

He once again pulled Ning Zhongze’s delicate body into his arms. This ti, Ning Zhongze didn’t react, quietly settling into Linghu Chong’s embrace.

The two leaned against each other for warmth. With the fire helping, their bodies finally started to warm up.

The color returned to Ning Zhongze’s stunningly beautiful face, making her complexion rosy once again.

“Are you feeling warr, Master’s Wife?” Linghu Chong asked softly by her ear.

“Mm,” Ning Zhongze murmured in response, her voice gentle and sweet.

Linghu Chong smiled warmly at her words. He held Ning Zhongze quietly, enjoying this fleeting mont of warmth.

The breath brushing her ear made it ticklish, causing Ning Zhongze’s ears to twitch slightly.

Linghu Chong’s embrace was not just warm—it was burning with masculine heat.

At this mont, lying in that warmth, Ning Zhongze felt a deep sense of peace and comfort, as if she were floating in a warm ocean.

For a mont, she forgot all her worries. Her heart felt incredibly serene and calm, without anxiety or tension, without fear or unease.

Her whole being beca tranquil and ethereal.

Ning Zhongze snuggled slightly deeper into Linghu Chong’s arms, finding the most comfortable position, and lazily closed her eyes, quietly enjoying the warmth and peace.

“Hoo… hoo…” Two soft breaths.

Unconsciously, the two of them fell asleep while holding each other.

Just then—

A miraculous scene unfolded.

From Linghu Chong’s body, golden streams of light began to erge.

These golden streams flowed around the two of them, then seeped into their bodies, circulating between their ridians and dantian over and over again.

Their inner strength began to recover—and much faster than before.

Under the golden light, peaceful smiles appeared on both their faces, as if they were intoxicated by the sensation.

Even more astonishingly, wherever the golden light touched their wounds, the injuries began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

These golden streams could actually heal wounds—truly mysterious and wondrous.

Unfortunately, the two of them were unaware of this miraculous occurrence.

No one knew how much ti passed.

Without more firewood, the flas of the campfire gradually dimd.

Soon, only embers glowed faintly red.

The cold wind in the valley continued to blow.

But under the cover of the mysterious golden light, Linghu Chong and Ning Zhongze, leaning into one another, didn’t feel the chill at all.

Their faces still wore smiles—so warm and content.

As ti passed, under the healing of the golden light, all their injuries were completely healed.

Even the inner strength in their dantian beca more abundant than before.

However, aside from this, filth resembling black sludge began to seep from their pores and skin, giving off a foul stench.

After a long while, the golden light all flowed back into Linghu Chong’s body and disappeared without a trace.

The valley returned to silence.

A gust of cold wind carried a faint stench to Ning Zhongze’s nose.

Her willow-like brows twitched slightly, and her nose scrunched up, as if the odor disturbed her, showing signs of waking up.

A little while later—

“Mm…” Ning Zhongze gave a soft murmur as she woke from sleep.

Her face bore a trace of confusion and drowsiness, and when she looked at the campfire beside her, she was surprised to find not even a spark remained.

How long did I sleep?

She shifted slightly, turned her head, and saw that Linghu Chong was still asleep.

In his warm embrace, looking at Linghu Chong’s handso and radiant face—there seed to be so kind of magic in it—that made Ning Zhongze’s heart flutter slightly.

Almost subconsciously, she reached out to gently stroke Linghu Chong’s cheek.
