Chapter 2: Jade Maiden Wants to Commit Suicide

Ning Zhongze, in her youth, was famously known as the ‘Jade Maiden of Huashan’.

To be worthy of the title ‘Jade Maiden’, her beauty and talent were certainly no exaggeration.

Her appearance was breathtaking, like a celestial being fallen to the mortal world. Her brows were like distant ink mountains—slender and arched, like willow tips swaying in the spring breeze. A slight furrow could already captivate the soul.

Her ink-black hair cascaded like a waterfall. Her eyes were like deep ancient pools—clear and bright. In every glance, it was as if specks of starlight flickered within, flowing with endless emotion.

Her cherry-like lips, crimson without the need for rouge, parted lightly as if releasing endless immortal mist.

Her skin was paler than snow, and under the bright moonlight, it seed cloaked in a faint halo of holy light—truly as smooth and delicate as mutton-fat jade.

Occasionally, a few strands of disheveled hair brushed over her face, adding a touch of languid charm.

Her figure was exquisite, her curves proud, perfectly outlining a dramatic S-shape.

Her slender waist fit not even a full grasp, paired with a face that could topple kingdoms—beauty so intense, one could hardly bear to look directly, leaving others breathless at every mont.

The moonlight was hazy, casting shadows across the undulating mountains, while the sea of clouds churned and rolled.

Two hours later.

Linghu Chong leaned against a giant rock and slowly regained consciousness.

“My head hurts!”

He shook his heavy head, trying to make himself more alert.

But with that motion, he felt a weight on his chest, like sothing heavy was pressing down.

Linghu Chong looked down, and a stunningly beautiful face ca into view.

He saw Ning Zhongze nestled in his arms, seemingly in deep sleep, a serene and content expression on her face.

Her cherry lips were slightly parted, breathing softly, her breath fragrant like orchids.

So beautiful.

At that mont, her willow brows twitched slightly, her delicate nose scrunched a bit—it seed Linghu Chong’s movent had stirred her, and she was on the verge of waking.

Seeing this, Linghu Chong imdiately held his breath and stayed still.

“This is…”

Looking at the disheveled ss around him, Linghu Chong was stunned.

He rembered.

Because of the poison those villains used, he had lost his sanity, and then with Ning Zhongze…

We fought.

I’m finished.

This is the end.

Linghu Chong’s eyes widened suddenly, panic spreading across his face.

This is Ning Zhongze—my master… my master’s wife!

She is righteous and kind, generous and honorable, upright and unyielding, full of chivalrous spirit and deep affection. Most importantly, she has imnse pride.

If she woke and discovered what had happened…

Even if she didn’t kill with a single sword strike, she would definitely take her own life!

What to do? What should I do? This is urgent…

Linghu Chong’s mind raced, trying to think of a solution.

Should I escape before Ning Zhongze woke up?

No, no, if I left, she would surely die.

But if I don’t leave, I might die instead.

What to do?

Linghu Chong hesitated, unable to make a decision.

“Mm…” At that mont, a painful whimper ca from his arms.

He saw that Ning Zhongze was beginning to wake.

Linghu Chong’s pupils dilated in panic—he couldn’t face Ning Zhongze right now. He quickly shut his eyes and pretended to be asleep.

At this mont, Ning Zhongze’s closed eyelids twitched slightly.

The next second—

She suddenly opened her eyes, and within those deep, bright pupils was a look of confusion.

This is…?

Ning Zhongze’s eyes narrowed slightly, realizing she was lying on a man’s chest.

Then ca the searing heat and pain from her body.

Ning Zhongze gasped in shock, abruptly pushing herself up. Seeing the man beneath her, her whole body trembled, and her mind thundered with realization.

“Chong’er…”

“Why? How could this happen? What on earth happened?”

Ning Zhongze clutched her head in agony, unable to believe what she was seeing. She held her head tightly, trying to rember everything that had happened.

Very soon, she pieced the events together, and her face showed utter despair and sorrow.

“What a sin! What a sin this is!”

“Heavens! Why did this happen? Why… ah!”

Looking at Linghu Chong’s face, her heart felt like it was being torn apart. Her spirit was crushed, her expression filled with pain and sorrow.

“What should I do? To think sothing like this happened between and Chong’er… I’ve let you down, Senior Brother!”

“Forgive , I no longer have the face to see you again!”

Ning Zhongze was at a loss, then suddenly her face turned resolute, her eyes vacant and hollow.

She turned to glance around, saw the dagger beside Linghu Chong gleaming coldly.

Without hesitation, she grabbed it and stabbed toward her chest, incredibly fast.

“No—Master’s wife!”

Linghu Chong saw this and was startled, imdiately throwing himself forward and embracing Ning Zhongze’s voluptuous, curvy figure.

This caused the dagger to pierce directly into his own back.

“Puff!”

The dagger sank into Linghu Chong’s back, and a rush of hot blood gushed out.

Linghu Chong let out a muffled groan, the intense pain hitting instantly.

“Chong’er…”

Ning Zhongze was terrified—she hadn’t expected Linghu Chong to wake up at this mont and block the dagger with his body.

Hot blood soaked her hands.

“Chong’er, are you all right?” Ning Zhongze asked in panic, quickly pulling the dagger out.

“Ugh—!”

The withdrawal dealt another heavy blow to Linghu Chong, and a mouthful of blood surged from his lips, splattering on Ning Zhongze.

“Chong’er!”

Ning Zhongze scread in horror, her face filled with worry. She quickly pressed her hand to the wound and circulated her inner strength to stop the bleeding.

“I’m fine, master’s wife…” Linghu Chong weakly said. Luckily, the dagger hadn’t struck his heart—it wasn’t fatal, just extrely painful.

At the word ‘Master’s wife’, Ning Zhongze’s delicate body visibly trembled.

“What do you an ‘fine’? Let go of master’s wife, let heal you.”

“No—I won’t, master!”

“If I let you go, you’ll try to kill yourself again!”

Linghu Chong clung tightly to Ning Zhongze’s body, refusing to release her.

Having been stabbed, his body was even weaker now.

If she tried again, he wouldn’t be able to stop her.

So, he couldn’t let go.

“You…”

Ning Zhongze was speechless—he had guessed correctly.

“Master! This wasn’t your fault. If anyone should die, it should be . I’ve wronged you. I’m worse than a beast!” Linghu Chong whispered into her ear, his voice faint and broken, spilling blood after barely a few words.

The hot blood dripping on her skin moved Ning Zhongze deeply. She panicked and said, “Chong’er! Stop talking. Master doesn’t bla you. This wasn’t your fault—it was those damned people!”

“Let go of Master, let stop your bleeding and treat your injuries. If this continues, you’ll die!”

“Master! I was an orphan from the start—I don’t mind dying. You treated like your own kin. But I can’t bear to see you die.”

Linghu Chong had no choice but to retreat to advance—gambling on her heart and nature, knowing she could never watch him die without doing sothing.

He tightened his embrace around her body to stop her from escaping.

“Mm… Chong’er, don’t move!”

Ning Zhongze’s face flushed slightly with an odd expression. “Chong’er! Master won’t seek death. Let go first so I can treat your wounds, all right?”

Her face was full of worry. She had always seen Linghu Chong as a future son-in-law, doting on him deeply, unable to bear any harm coming to him.

“No—swear it!” Linghu Chong didn’t believe her.

“This…”

Ning Zhongze was stunned.
