The small gestures of the two people in the back seat naturally went unnoticed by the elders in the front, but from where Chen’s mother was sitting, she only needed to slightly turn her head to take in He Da’s expression completely. Although she didn’t know why her daughter suddenly beca excited, she could see the indulgence in He Da’s eyes towards Chen Ning, which was a kind of affection a man has for a woman.

After He Da held her hand, Chen Ning quieted down, sitting there properly, looking out the car window without speaking. Yet, she couldn’t help but occasionally turn back to glance at He Da, then look down at her hand held by He Da, her lips involuntarily curving into a sweet and contented smile.

Chen’s father parked the car under the hotel, and only then did He Da let go of Chen Ning’s hand and got out of the car with her.

"You must be tired from the flight, and it’s quite late now. You should rest at the hotel tonight, and tomorrow morning, I’ll have Chen Ning co over to take you to et Chen Ning’s grandparents." Saying this, Chen’s mother pointed to a row of impressive bungalows not far away and said, "There, just at the sixth house."

A woman’s thoughts differ from a man’s. Although Chen’s mother was sowhat displeased with He Da’s disability, seeing the indulgence in He Da’s eyes for Chen Ning earlier, she spoke more gently. Won, after all, care more about how much a man values a woman rather than his outward appearances.

Hence, Chen’s mother added another explanation, "We will also be staying at Chen Ning’s grandparents tonight, and since the elders haven’t spoken yet, I just..."

"I understand, thank you, Uncle and Auntie." He Da knew the explanation Chen’s mother left unsaid, nodded, and thanked her. He continued, "These are gifts prepared by my family and , and I don’t know if Uncle and Auntie will like them. I just hope that since I brought them all the way from the capital, you won’t mind."

He Da ca to et his future in-laws, so he couldn’t possibly co empty-handed. The gifts were in one of the suitcases, and since he had already t Chen Ning’s parents, He Da didn’t plan to take them back to the hotel and bring them over again the next day.

That would seem too deliberate, and He Da felt it was unnecessary.

"Mom, Dad, you’re not allowed to dislike them!" Chen Ning interjected next to her, "Even if you dislike them, you have to accept them. If you really don’t like them, at worst, you can include them as part of my dowry when I get married!"

Even Chen’s mother, with her temperant, was about to be exasperated by her daughter. "You, you! We should have sent you to the capital to grow up with your sister Chen Shan when you were young!"

Chen Ning shook her head, "You’re realizing this too late now! Besides, I don’t think you are much better than Chen Shan’s parents."

"You, child," Chen’s father rolled his eyes at his daughter.

Chen Ning stuck out her tongue, then went forward to link arms with He Da, ignoring her parents, intending to help He Da carry his luggage to the hotel’s room.

Of course, He Da couldn’t agree. Not to ntion that Chen Ning’s parents were still waiting, he couldn’t make the elders wait for Chen Ning. Moreover, at this ti, Chen Ning’s grandparents were likely waiting for her to return. Besides, he was a man; he wouldn’t let a woman carry the luggage.

"You should go back with Uncle and Auntie. They’ve been waiting for us at the airport, and they must be tired. Plus, your grandparents are definitely waiting for you, so go back and rest early." He Da shook his head at Chen Ning, refusing her offer.

Only after reluctantly seeing Chen Ning off did He Da carry the not-so-heavy luggage into the grand hotel.
