"Dad!" Ding Jinshi was so anxious she was about to jump, "Dad, what are you doing?"
"If Jinshi is willing to marry, I’m willing to marry her." Ding Long didn’t speak too harshly or definitively, his words all showed respect for Ding Jinshi’s wishes.
"Then it’s settled. The two of you get engaged first! Anyway, everyone already knows about your engagent, so let’s just settle it, to save Jinshi’s reputation." Ding Father really didn’t take Ding Jinshi’s opinion into account.
"Dad, are you a tyrant? Have you asked what I think?" Ding Jinshi growled, "I don’t want to." Then she stord out and ran downstairs.
"Jinshi!" Ding Long wanted to go after her, but was stopped by Ding Father calling from behind.
"Ding Long." Ding Father said, "The older she gets, the bigger her temper, she’s such a big girl, she won’t run far, sit down, I have sothing to talk to you about."
Ding Long furrowed his brow as he sat back down, but his heart was wholly with Ding Jinshi, "Uncle Ding, what do you want to talk to about?"
Ding Father looked at Ding Long, who was visibly anxious and worried, yet he himself wasn’t the least bit concerned, as if it wasn’t his daughter who had just run out angrily.
Ding Father kept staring at Ding Long while holding a pen, the pen tip gently tapping a notebook, which had several work records, all showing he remained busy lately.
After a long while, Ding Father spoke, "You’re the one who spread the news, aren’t you?"
Ding Long’s expression jolted sharply, his pupils contracted suddenly, eting Ding Father’s gaze, without a word.
"Gu En doesn’t like Jinshi and Lan Li being together, but Gu En is only a teenager, she doesn’t have the ans to let so many people know about you and Jinshi overnight." Ding Father’s expression was inscrutable, "My judgnt tells , this matter, is related to you."
"Yes." Ding Long admitted, unflinchingly eting Ding Father’s gaze, "Because I love her, I want to marry her."
"But don’t you think your way is too underhanded, too excessive?" Ding Father was slightly angry, "You’re forcing her, cutting off all possibilities between her and Lan Li completely, don’t you see? She’s very upset, very angry."
"I see it, but I don’t regret it." Ding Long laughed, "Don’t you also not like Lan Li being with Jinshi? Do you think, marrying Jinshi is not a good thing? I’ve loved her for many years, waited for her for many years, now, having finally brought her back from M Country, when she followed back, I didn’t want her to continue hiding in her shell. I am forcing her, but when I’ve cleaned out all the pus from her wounds, won’t her wounds naturally heal? I want to be the person in her heart, to push Lan Li out from that space."
"Actually, I used to like Lan Li quite a bit." Ding Father couldn’t deny that when Ding Jinshi and Lan Li were dating, he was genuinely overjoyed. Lan Li, as the only son of the Lan Family, ant that aligning with the Lan Family could bring many benefits, but that doesn’t an he would let benefits cloud his judgnt. When Lan Li unhesitatingly dumped Ding Jinshi for Gu En, as a father, Ding Father had already struck Lan Li off his list of potential sons-in-law.
He only had this one daughter, and due to remarrying, he had created a rift with her. He could remarry to make sure his daughter had soone to care for her and marry soone he didn’t love, and for his daughter’s sake, he and his current wife wouldn’t have children, so there’s no way he would trade his daughter for the benefits he wanted.
