Getting punched like this was nothing for Ding Long; it practically felt like a blessing.
He glanced at Ding Jinshi, "Anyway, unless you never return to the country, you’ll have to see him sooner or later."
Ding Jinshi sighed, "I know." But so what if she knew? Right now, she was just thinking of avoiding it as long as possible.
"You can’t hide forever; you’ll have to go back eventually. Why avoid the capital just because of one person? Besides, the capital is huge; do you think you’d just run into him? Lan Li is busy with the military and not in the capital. If you do run into him, you’d have terrible luck. Most importantly, you weren’t at fault. Why should you hide? If I were you, I’d go to the capital regularly. Whoever dislikes seeing you the most, the more you should be in their face. If they’re unhappy, that’s when you’re happy, got it?"
"Gu En." Ding Jinshi uttered the na, "She probably is the person who least wants to see in the capital."
"Then you have to go back to the capital, and do it happily, just to annoy her." Ding Long encouraged Ding Jinshi, "Don’t worry, even if you both end up fighting, I’ll help you."
"How will you help?" Ding Jinshi glanced at Ding Long, she didn’t ddle in adult affairs, but that didn’t an she knew nothing. "If I hit Gu En, I’d feel better, but how would Lan Li resent ? The Gu Family dotes on Gu En; if we hit Gu En, would your company stop operating? Would my dad want to continue in his position?"
Ding Jinshi shook her head, "Ding Long, stop persuading . I really don’t have the courage to go back to that place that saddens ."
Ding Long said no more, as he couldn’t persuade her.
"Enough sitting, you’re covered in snow. Let’s go check out that castle you ntioned. We’re here already, it’d be a waste not to see it." Ding Long pulled Ding Jinshi up from the chair, brushing the snow off her, "Lead the way, Guide Ding."
The quiet town was just as Ding Long described—beautiful in winter.
The castle at the edge of town was even quieter and holier this winter. As Ding Jinshi once told Ding Long, the castle’s owner was extrely hospitable, gladly allowing Ding Jinshi and Ding Long, even as strangers, to visit the castle.
The two spent half a day in the town before taking the last bus back to school.
Ding Long stayed with Ding Jinshi at school for three days. When Ding Long returned to the country, Ding Jinshi couldn’t see him off, partly because she had been having so much fun that even the professor knew she had recovered.
Promising to call and report his safety after he returned, Ding Long boarded the flight ho alone. If not for being bound by a veteran’s obligation, Ding Long would have set up his company in M Country, so he wouldn’t even need to persuade Ding Jinshi to return ho.
The snow in the country had stopped, but as Ding Long left the airport, he could still see the vast blanket of white snow.
"Ding Long, did you visit Jinshi this ti in M Country?" Lin Deng asked, driving as he took Ding Long to his place, making himself comfortable on the sofa without any formality.
Many knew Ding Long went abroad this ti, especially since it was New Year’s and people noticed his absence. Ding Long ntioned he went abroad on business, so no one remarked about him not going ho for the holiday.
