But Ding Long felt a bit heartache for her; she was clearly starving upon waking up, yet with him by her side, she waited silently until Aunt Xi ca.
Since there was still soup stewing at ho and Aunt Xi was thinking about preparing lunch, she didn’t stay long at the hospital. After Ding Jinshi finished eating, she had the driver arranged by Ding Long take her back to the Ding Family. However, soon after Aunt Xi left, an elder ca to visit the ward, but it was soone Ding Jinshi did not wish to see.
"Dad, you’re here?" Ding Long quickly stood up and went to the door to greet the person; it was Ding Jinshi’s biological father.
"I rushed back as soon as I got the news." Ding Jinshi’s father had hurried back from out of town. Upon learning before dawn that Ding Jinshi was about to give birth, he set out imdiately and had just arrived in the capital. He hadn’t even gone ho but ca straight to the hospital, "How are Jinshi and the baby?"
"Don’t worry, Dad, they’re both fine." Ding Long responded and then led him into the ward.
As soon as Ding Jinshi saw who entered, her expression turned cold, "What are you doing here?"
Ding Jinshi’s father felt a bit saddened; he knew well how his insistence that Ding Jinshi marry Ding Long had caused her to resent him deeply. She always believed that her father had blatantly sold her happiness for his own gain.
True, he couldn’t deny it. Ding Long had indeed provided him nurous benefits, easing his urgent troubles. Yet what truly made him relent wasn’t the profits and benefits promised by Ding Long but his pledge to cherish Ding Jinshi for life, his declaration of having loved her for many years.
"Jinshi, Dad was on a business trip out of town these past few days, and as soon as I heard you gave birth, I rushed back overnight to see you." Ding Long explained.
"Ding Long, I don’t need you to act like the perfect son-in-law before . If you want to act, do it outside whenever you please. I once said, when I stepped out of ho and married you, I relinquished ties with that family and would never return. What my mother left , I took with , without missing a thing, and not a single item of his did I take. My future, whether happy or miserable, life or death, has nothing to do with him." As she spoke, Ding Jinshi’s eyes reddened, and large tear drops began to fall, "Ding Long, make him leave. My daughter has nothing to do with him. In the future, I will tell my daughter that mommy has no daddy, and she won’t have a grandfather!"
"Jinshi, do you truly hate Dad so?" The old man’s body trembled, barely able to stand.
"Hate, why wouldn’t I? Without you and Ding Long, even if I were a re walking corpse, it’d be better than now! My life’s only light is my daughter! Were it not for her arrival, my life would forever be worse than death, living in Hell! You tell , should I hate? Do I need to hate?" Ding Jinshi roared hoarsely, "Leave; I don’t want to see you!"
"Dad, you’ve rushed back and must be exhausted. Let have soone take you ho." Ding Long’s heart trembled as he advised his father-in-law.
"Take good care of her and the child." Ding Jinshi’s father could only nod. His presence would only upset his daughter and make her cry, and a woman who has just given birth must not shed tears. As hard as it was, he turned and left the hospital without letting Ding Long send him off, leaving Ding Long to stay and care for mother and child.
