Auntie Ding Long chided at Ding Jinshi’s back, and the more she talked, the darker Ding’s father and mother’s faces beca.
"Alright, it’s my business whether we have a boy or a girl, it has nothing to do with you! You all didn’t consider her feelings just now when you spoke, how could she not be upset? Mom, Dad, you go inside by yourselves, I’m not going in." Ding Long said and directly ran after her.
Ding Jinshi had already walked a long way, her pace getting faster, and Ding Long had to jog to catch up with her.
"Jinshi, don’t take their words to heart. I, Ding Long, have no insistence on having a son. I would love our child whether it’s a boy or a girl; I even hope you’d give a daughter." Ding Long grabbed Ding Jinshi.
"I wouldn’t give you even an egg!" Ding Jinshi shook off Ding Long’s hand in anger.
Ding Long chuckled, "Then you better be able to lay an egg too! I never thought of you as a hen."
"You!" Ding Jinshi was infuriated; she had just blurted that out in anger, and now it was being used by Ding Long to tease her.
"Alright, alright, don’t be mad anymore, let’s go, I’ll take you sowhere else to eat, or should we go ho? You do like the food Shi Ma cooks, right?" Ding Long held her in the street, coaxing her, "I think this morning I saw Shi Ma buying ribs, maybe she’ll make sweet and sour ribs. You really like that dish, don’t you? How about we go back and have Shi Ma make it for you?"
"Ding Long, I’m officially notifying you, I am absolutely not going to et any of your relatives ever again, like your aunt, don’t expect to play the fool, spending money, giving gifts, and ending up full of anger, being laughed at like an idiot in front of that hotel." After saying that, Ding Jinshi firmly pushed Ding Long away, hailed a taxi and got in.
Ding Long jogged a few steps and heard Ding Jinshi tell the driver the Ding Family’s address, and that’s when he stopped following.
Ding Long felt helpless too; his family wasn’t like Ding Jinshi’s with generations of officials. His family used to live in the countryside, so naturally there were quite a few relatives with deeply ingrained old-fashioned views.
Even Ding Long’s parents, who lived in the capital for many years, couldn’t shake those old ideas.
When Ding Long got ho, Ding Jinshi was already there, just sulking alone in the room, lying down to sleep without having lunch.
"Shi Ma, make so of the dishes she likes, I’ll go up and coax her." Upon knowing from Shi Ma that Ding Jinshi hadn’t eaten, Ding Long went upstairs.
After saying that, Ding Long ran all the way upstairs, opened the door and saw Ding Jinshi hitting the bed with a pillow in anger. As soon as she heard the door open, she threw the pillow towards Ding Long.
The pillow was filled with duck feathers, no matter how she threw it, it wouldn’t hurt. Ding Long didn’t dodge, just took it directly, but still couldn’t hold back, and burst into laughter, "Getting this mad just because of a few words?"
Ding Long rembered, when Ding Jinshi was a child, this was how she vented when she was mad, and after so many years, this thod hasn’t changed.
